My SO and I both get cold sores. DS1 has never had one. My SO noticed this spot on DS2's mouth at dinner. Has anyone had any experience with colds sores and toddlers? Should we call the pedi? Can I breastfeed?
DS2 is 15 months old.

Can anyone help? He keeps asking to nurse but I don't know if I should.

I'd think you should be able to nurse. You can't get cold sores on your breasts, same way you can't get genital herpes on your fingers or feet or whatever. But I'm not sure.

@luckypenny: yeah I don't think its possible but it still scares me! And I can't pump for crap. Guess we don't have a choice anyways.

DS had something similar, and our doctor said it was due to a zinc deficiency. We started to give him a multivitamin, and it went away after a few weeks.

@yin: hmm...maybe thats what it is then! Dr. Google says if it were a cold sore more than likely he'd have a fever and more than one spot (because its the first time). He has no fever and just one bump, which doesn't seem to bother him at all! I think I'll call his pedi tomorrow.

just remembered my LO has a tiny white bump on this knee as well but I didn't think they were related.
I hope its not a cold sore.
