I wanna beat his booty!!!!!

So my husband decided to let DD empty out her potty after she goes #1 and #2.

She picks it up, walks to the toilet and empties it.

She's TWO. So of course her aim's not perfect.

IT DRIVES ME CRAZY. The first time I tried emptying it out she freaking threw a huge ass tantrum because SHE WANTED TO DO IT!!!

Am I crazy? Should I just let her throw her pee and poop in the toilet and just clean up after her?
(I clean and sanitize the bowl (little and big) after she's done of course.

Or should I tell her sorry, this is MY job and beat my husband's booty into submission? HA. kidding about the beating. Ugh.

Third option.. Maybe I should get rid of the small potty and have her just sit on our big toilet from now on? Means I'd have to get another stepping stool..

Maybe this is a good opportunity to try and get her to use the big potty? She seems gung-ho to be a big girl and do things herself.

Is the mess contained on the toilet and floor only or is there some on the walls too?

Oh goodness, I'd get her on the big potty. Awesome that she's so independent but I would struggle with the mess.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: haha sometimes she doesn't make a mess at all.. and the mess stays around the toilet area. I haven't had to clean the floor yet!

@pui: She's actually good about using the big toilet when we're out, so I'm gonna set our guest bath up with the seat cover. Will have her go on it and see how she does.

Another vote for using the big potty. It's one less mess to clean up, and she will be happy to be a big girl on the potty. Win win!

If you don't just go with the big potty (which is my vote), then let her do it because it helps her take ownership of the action. This also means she has to help clean up after herself (obviously with your supervision and final cleaning).

Ahahaha, yep I've been there! Our compromise is basically that DD can do it herself if she's very careful and doesn't make a mess. If she's playing around/being careless, she doesn't get to do it for the rest of the day. Now she tells people, "If I don't do things properly, mommy and daddy have to do it for me."

Big potty! I mean it's a win/win.
She get independence and you no cleanup, whether it be your husband or you who takes her into the bathroom.

We never had a little potty at all. We did the big potty all the time from beginning to end.

Ikea has a very tall stool for standing which is great for both the potty and the sink.

I voted for big potty, but if you dont go down that route i say let her empty it herself. I feel like its positive reinforcement. Congrats on potty training!

I think you should let her do it AND get her to help clean up the mess.

I'm all for letting them try things themselves. When DS was 3, he was in a fantastic preschool that stressed this type of thing (not neccessarily potty). I've seen the kids pour their own juice at lunch time and serve themselves. If there's a mess, the teachers help the students clean it up. It's easy to do everything for them all the time, but they need to learn things, too.

ETA: For some reason I missed the big potty option...I change my vote to that...and then my above statement come second, lol

We have been a big potty family since DD started the potty training process so that is my vote.

I had a similar argument with DH because he taught DD how to buckle herself into her carseat shortly after DS' arrival (she was 2 1/2); when I tried to do it she threw a fit. His thoughts were she was a big girl and we check it/adjust the tightness so it was fine; he wasn't the one dealing with toddler tantrums first thing in the morning. I relented and now at 3 she insists I do it.

I vote for big potty, nobody wants to clean the toilet that many times a day.

My friend bought this for bathroom in her house. Something to consider?
