.....when my kids were little. I hear this all the time, especially when I'm wearing Prettybaby in my sling on my hip. It cracks me up because slings have been around for a zillion years, this it not a new concept! lol!

haha my mom (total hippie, too, btw) made all these crazy carriers/slings to wear me and my brother around. She's a RISD grad, textile major, and even made her own fabric. Crafty lady.

@prettylizy: My mom says the same thing but not in a nice way, like "I don't trust these newfangled contraptions they have for babies now."

My grandma said that constantly when she visited. About our ergos, bouncers, double strollers, etc. But she said it kind of like, 'look how easy you have it now!'

@rachiecakes: that's awesome! RISD hippie- I love it!
@mrsjazz: lol! My mom doesn't think my sling is safe because there aren't leg holes
@MerryC: That nicer than the usual "in my day we made due with..." that I hear sometimes.

I heard this a lot at the baby shower I attended this past weekend. She was gifted so many wonderful things and all the older women were astonished at some of what we find commonplace for babies now - like the video monitor! People went crazy over it!
