I called our local rink about that. They said as long as they can walk well, technically, they can learn to skate. (but classes are for 3 and up) I've seen little kids my daughter's age skating sometimes. She's 2.5. We brought her once but forgot to bring her helmet so I was afraid of letting her go on her own. We haven't tried again yet.

this sounds so fun. We may just have to do this with J next year (he'll be nearly three in the winter)

I plan on taking my LO once he's walking a little better and follows instructions. Maybe 2?

@wheres_c: Oh my gosh, those are adorable! I'd wait until LO was old enough to wear them a while before I'd buy, but those are too cute!

I was a competitive figure skater into my late teens and DH was a hockey player through college. Both of us were on skates as soon as we could walk fairly well, and will probably do the same with LO. Official lessons started about 3 I think.

My brothers and I all started skating at around 2. My parents would take us to the rink and we would push around one of the kitchen chairs for stability!

I was on skates at 3! They have little walker type things you can use if your little one isn't stable.

boo ours is 3 1/2 which means she'll have to wait till winter 2016!
