We just had friends over, so our house is clean. Any other time, it probably wouldn't.

If somebody came by without notice, our home would be very "lived in" and not super clean!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
If someone stopped by right now it would be fairly clean, but not spotless. Spotless is nearly impossible now with a very active 15 month old!
pomegranate / 3729 posts
Certainly not. Having people over takes preperation for me. Most of the time it lights a fire under me to clean up even though I know I needed to!
pear / 1786 posts
No, we don't have LOs yet but two dogs and two busy adults do not make for a clean house most days!
hostess / eggplant / 11068 posts
The house itself is clean...It's just our bathrooms that need some scrubbing.

This is exactly why I have a cleaning roster... My Inlaws like to visit un-annouced ( they live 2 hours away!) Urrggh it used to annoy the hell out of me as I absolutely hate people seeing my house gross. Now if I keep up with the roster my house is clean all the time without the mad rush clean up so I guess it's taught me to keep it clean lol.
coconut / 8498 posts
No... I should make a cleaning schedule for myself so it's not so overwhelming.
nectarine / 2522 posts
@c.sassy: do it! It's the best thing ever! I spend 15-20 minutes every night after work doing one thing and my house is clean all the time
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
For this week it would be. We are having DHs friend stay over for 2 weeks so it is spotless Any other week and they would have to sleep in the bathtub.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Depends on the week, lately it would appear very lived in!
coconut / 8305 posts
At one time it would've been clean, but since having DD no way!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
Yep... We're usually pretty tody and guest ready. Usually.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
Ha ha ha. This week? No. I would pull the crazed momma cars, though.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
Nope. I have a really hard time keeping my house tidy andDH is no help
honeydew / 7444 posts
The house is pretty clean, though there are days when it could use a bit of organizing. We rarely have much clutter, so it's always easy to do some quick cleaning before guests come over.
DH made a mistake and thought a friend of ours was coming a week later than what she told him. When i got the email the morning of that she was coming that night, i frantically cleaned and organized as best i could while 30 weeks preggo. :T

Like @Rubies: our house is clean but the bathrooms could probably use some extra attention - I hate cleaning bathrooms the most
grapefruit / 4056 posts
Our house would be tidy, but not spotless. I have a 140 pound newfoundland dog, a cat, a baby, and a husband who likes to leave his work stuff lying around. I can get it to spotless given a couple hours notice though (to vacuum, steam mop, and spot clean walls).

I always have the house clean but I have it all "hotel-like" when guests come....fold my towels better, light a candle....
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Nope! Our house always has clutter. It's clean, but we are always doing laundry so there would be stacks of folded clothes in the living room, paperwork and mail on the kitchen table, etc.
grapefruit / 4187 posts
It would definitely be neat, but we only clean once a week or right before guests come over so it could be at the end of the clean cycle if they come over unannounced.
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
No, but I would expect them not to hold it against me since I didn't have any warning!
pea / 9 posts
Absolutely not. And all of our friends and family know that would be the case so they wouldn't even ask, lol!

@Hanzabelle: That's a great idea to set up a schedule. We always wait to clean on the weekend and then it takes forever. Maybe I'll do a deep clean this weekend and then start that next week.
pineapple / 12053 posts
hm... probably dishes in the sink (no dishwasher) and then some clothes out and probably a bed not made. but not dirty and easy to clean up to spend the night!
squash / 13199 posts
No. Especially now that I just started work again, its only clean on the weekends. But once I get used to his new routine I will try keeping it clean and tidy again
pear / 1965 posts
The guest room would be ready, as for the rest of the house, it would not be dirty but it would not be up to my standards for a house guest.

We've been doing an ok job lately maintaining. I'd just need 15 min to do a super sweep! But most of the time, our place is messy!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
Most of the time. I like to keep my house clean. Right now we have guests and it's a little messy! We're doing a bunch of projects.
pomegranate / 3503 posts
No way. Maybe late at night, after the kids go to bed and I've had the chance to tidy up a bit. But as soon as they wake, it's like the tasmanian devil has gone through the house.
nectarine / 2690 posts
Sometimes. I go through spurts of keeping a really clean house and periods of laziness. Right now it's laziness. It's not gross, but not as clean as I want it to be.
pomelo / 5073 posts
Definitely not. This is something I'm going to work on the next few weeks. I love coming home to a clean house, but I just have been too busy working on my classroom. Now that that's done, I can focus on the house and start school with everything in order. Fingers crossed.
