I made dinner on our 3rd or 4th date and cooked him my very famous (lol) chicken risotto He still requests this dish once in a while
Updates? We have a WTF/Next Steps meeting with the RE on March 18 to talk about IVF and look into the cost, etc. I am looking forward to this next step because we are both frustrated that 2.5 years in we still aren't pregnant

Oh man, I have NO idea the first meal I cooked for DH... we've been together for almost 12 years, and we were in college, so it was probably ramen noodles or easy mac, haha.
Updates: I'm plugging along with the Lupron shots, waiting for AF (in the next few days) so I can start my second IVF cycle. Ready to get this show on the road!
@mrswin: good luck at the WTF appointment! It's always exciting to start talking about the next steps... comes with renewed hope
pomelo / 5000 posts
@mrswin: the WTF appointment feels good! I'm glad you're getting to regroup and look into next steps. Want to share your risotto recipe?
@shutterbug: I still crave those types of "meals" every now and then. In fact, I made boxed mac and cheese for just me last night! How's the lupron treating you this go round?
Not much to report here! I'm in limbo land until my lap on the 21st. One of my sisters just had a baby---that makes nephew #7, and I have two nieces. I'm looking forward to seeing him, although I'm nervous I'll get the "poor you" looks that I can't stand. I don't know--I'm just running out of steam with it all, to be honest. I wish I had some renewed hope and energy.
First meal for my husband? I actually do remember this--it was a healthy nacho recipe, filled with chickpeas and broccoli. I remember b/c it made us gassy, and my husband had to excuse himself!
@mrswin: @Shutterbug: any dates you want to share for our running list to keep for this week?
nectarine / 2433 posts
@Happygal: There is no recipe for my Risotto unfortunately, I have been cooking it forever. I think the original recipe was from a Williams Sonoma recipe book. Will see if I can find it when I get home tonight.
The only date right now from me is the March 18th appointment with the RE. I am not doing any treatment so I will only POAS if my AF is late.
@Shutterbug: LOL too cute! I didn't realize you had been together that long, nothing wrong with ramen or mac and cheese

Husband and I actually had a debate a few weeks ago about the first meal I made him - I'm 99% sure it was creamy chicken and Swiss (we just call it chicken slop), he says it was some boxed meal (he's wrong! )
AF arrived on Monday, and I went in on Tuesday for my first ultrasound. Everything was clear, so we got the okay to start Letrozole yesterday, mid-cycle scan scheduled for next Friday.
@Happygal: I'm right there with you in feeling like running out of steam. All of the waiting and disappointment really takes a toll. I hope things turn around and you find your hope again soon!

I can't remember the first meal! I think I made him this chicken with cream of mushroom soup thing? I don't remember how soon into the relationship though. I remember around 5 months in, I made him lasagna for Valentine's Day. I lived in a studio with a tiny kitchen so this was quite the ordeal!
As for me, we had our WTF/next steps appointment last week. Ironically, it was on CD1 which has worked out perfectly. A sample of something was taken that day. I went back CD2 (she does CD2 or 3) for blood work (egg stuff) and a baseline ultrasound to compare things to. My doctor called yesterday and said the ultrasound looked completely normal. I have my HSG tomorrow early afternoon and DH has his SA Saturday morning. After that, it's just my post-O blood work (progesterone) and physicals with blood work for both of us. She also had me start taking Pregnitude and I have an acupuncture appointment next weekend (recommended both plus massage in September but I didn't do any. So she recommended at least acupuncture over massage). Phew! So that's where we're at
@mrswin: Ooh, that dish sounds good!!

I can't remember the first meal I cooked, but I do remember the first time I watched him try to cook. We were dating way back in high school, and he decided to make us chicken noodle soup. Yup, from the can. He put the pot on the stove, turned the knob, and let it sit... and then I realized that he hadn't lit the burner! I still remind him that I saved both of our lives and literally taught him how to boil water. Unfortunately, that's still about all he can do!
We're in the middle of our first TWW (ten day wait?) since August, when we found out we were dealing with fertility issues. It's so weird to think that this is actually the first time it's ever been physically possible for me to be pregnant! I go for my first beta March 7. A week from tomorrow! I haven't decided if I will POAS first.
@just_ju: @Happygal: I hope you both find some encouragement and renewed energy this week. Sometimes it helps me to know that every day is one day closer to the day we'll finally start our family.

@mrswin: I can't wait to hear about your WTF appointment but that's so far away! Good luck!
@Shutterbug: Come on AF let's get this party started! I hope your IVF goes well this cycle.
@Happygal: I hate limbo land and the poor you looks. I hope things start looking up for you. I know how hard it is, but maybe the lap will be the solution.
@just_ju: What are you doing this cycle? Sorry I don't know what the letrozole is for.
@LindsayInNY: Wow! That is a ton of ground to cover, it's awesome that your doc is being so proactive. My doc was like that and I loved it! Unfortunately, most of my test weren't done at the right time so I had to redo them with the RE, which sucked.
@thisisme: FX for you! I hope this is it. I wouldn't blame you if you decide not to POAS it's so hard to deal with a BFN.
The first meal I made DH was stuffed shells for his birthday. He loved it, but I never make them anymore because they are soooo unhealthy.
I'm officially 5 dpo today. My temps are amazingly steady which is unusual, but I wonder if that's the clomid doing it's job? Or maybe my thermometer is broken? Also (maybe TMI) but my nips are killing me, I read that it can be a side effect of the clomid. Any one else have that happen? I have my second opinion appointment tomorrow and I am sort of excited. I really hope this doctor is a better fit for us. I will be sure to update after the appointment tomorrow. I also have to go do my b/w on Saturday before work, I hope my progesterone numbers are good.

@MrsTal: this cycle will be our 3rd IUI :). Good luck with your second opinion tomorrow!

@mrswin: Yay for the next step of getting answers!
@Shutterbug: isn't it funny how there are times when we don't want AF to come because we're so hopeful, and when we know what the next step will be, we can't wait for it to arrive so we can start already! I hope you get your AF soon so you can begin the next cycle!
@Happygal: FX that the lap will work and provide you with a BFP as far away as that procedure may be. :hugs:
@just_ju: what dosage are you starting the letrozole (femara) on?
@LindsayInNY: Perfect timing! Its awesome that you did not have to wait long to start all your testing. FX that this is your cycle with how the timing is working!
@thisisme: Sending positive vibes your way for great beta results.
@MrsTal: I hope you have a productive appointment tomorrow! Its always great to have more help and more answers! As for the sensitive nips, hopefully that's a sign that the clomid is working for you.
I think the first meal I cooked for DH was chicken curry over rice. He looked like he enjoyed it and I packed him leftovers for lunch. It was also one of the meals that I would make every so often because it was so easy to make. Fast forward 5 years, after we were engaged, he told me that he does not like curry at all!
Update: So far my OPKs have remained the same. No difference in the line colors since Sunday. I'll be going in for lab work this weekend and hopefully my progesterone numbers will be good to indicate that I ovulated. I'll call the RE on Monday to schedule an u/s and see what's going on with my ovaries irregardless of the lab results.
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@MrsTal: good news with the second opinion coming up! clomid can give you tons of symptoms since it indirectly affects all your hormones. I unsuccessfully try to ignore all symptoms on my clomid cycles. I do think it means your hormones are doing something new which is good!
@thisisme: yay for 2ww! I agree it's about a 10 day wait for me, I basically test and give up around 11dpo.
@LindsayInNY: I am impressed with everything you have fit in! awesome timing!
@just_ju: I'm curious to hear about your letrozole experience. I wanted to try it but my RE doesn't prescribe it.
@Shutterbug: @mrswin: always exciting to move things along!
@Happygal: I know what you mean about the hope and energy, maybe post-lap you'll get it back?
so I have no idea what I first cooked for DH. we spent a lot of time eating out and traveling early in our relationship because we were long-distance across several states. cooking was not a high priority when we saw each other
updates - 10dpo BFN today. which is still early of course but I'm just not feeling it. I put a fair amount of stock in 11dpo as a fair test day so I'll likely do an actual FRER (instead of my usual wondfo) and then just wait for the spotting to start.
and then it's back to 100mg clomid (which I also did this cycle) and I have approval for another IUI. I feel pretty depressed about it right now.
DH is taking a new job so we are moving from MA to TX sometime in the next couple months. I'm feeling pressure for this to work because we'll lose our great MA coverage, and then I'll also have to start over with a new RE and new insurance approvals and all that. just feel like it will set things back.
but this job is a huge blessing for our family and I am trying to remember that if I had to choose job or BFP, I would choose job as it's a great opportunity for DH that doesn't come along every day.
and who knows, there's still a small chance this cycle.
clementine / 901 posts
@just_ju: thank you! I hope IUI #3 is the lucky one.
@bhbee: omg! That's a big move, when exactly will it be? I also put a lot of stock in 11 dpo test for some reason, I feel like by then it should be positive? I really hope it works out before the move so you don't have to go through the process of finding a new RE. But I'm sure if you have to, you will find someone great and it will work out.
@lazypanda: I hope your labs show you ovulated. An ultrasound would probably be a good idea just to get an idea of what's going on in there.
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@MrsTal: it sounds like they may agree to let him work remotely (they also have office space here but not his group) for a bit. so we may be able to stay until the end of our lease May 31. or as I think of it, 3 cycles, of course. and then I start thinking about lining up house-hunting visits to my RE appts . . . I need to chill out.

I'm pretty sure it was a hamburger that I butchered because the inside was still mooing he grills now!!
Had my cd14 u/s Tuesday. Only 1 follie on my rt ovary. Progesterone next wed. If not preg this month.. Off to an RE. kinda indifferent about it. I want to think it is a good thing to have more expertise than an ob, but I know what financial burdens will come with it ( no infertility insurance coverage ). Had a rough day Tues driving home from dr. Running the whole why me in my head.

Here's an updated list! I added "cycle number" trying to the end if you'd like to share that as well. To keep from cutting and pasting the same list over and over in one thread, why don't you include an **before any info you'd like included in the list and I'll update at the end of each day.

Hey ladies. Thanks @mrswin: for starting this. I've been distracted by some issues in my personal life the past few weeks.
I can't remember what I made for him, probably frozen pizza. I remember he cooked pork chops for me though and they were delicious.
No updates.
*Waiting on af, I don't know what cycle, but it has been 4 years.
pomelo / 5000 posts
@MrsWin: it seems like anything from Williams Sonoma is a sure thing, just like my Cooks Illustrated books!
@Just_Ju: I hope you get some renewed energy as well. I guess it's better than the "I feel devastated" state, but just being flat is depressing in its own way. I see you're on your third IUI--fingers crossed this is the one for you!
@lindsayinny: good luck with your HSG today. Go share your experience on that thread I started! I hope yours is as easy and smooth as all the other Bees. Did you say your doctor recommended a massage? Any kind? Just to get you to relax? I like that doctor.
@ThisIsMe: what a funny story! My husband's cooking skills are pretty limited as well--he makes burritos, chicken marsala, and fish. Repeat. Good luck making it through the TWW--it is torture!
@MrsTal: stuffed shells sounds right up my alley. I love anything with cheese. I had a month of steady temps and when I asked my RE about it, she said it was nothing. She also wasn't that into charting, so keep that in mind. I just saw I missed that you have another appointment today. Good luck! How did you pick this doctor out--is it an RE or OB? Oh, and Clomid definitely made me sore. I think it's in your system for awhile.
@lazypanda: Aww, that's cute about the curry! I'm sorry about the not-changing OPKs. That can be so frustrating. What CD day are you now? Are you just doing blood work this weekend, or an exam as well?
@BHBee: Oh, I know about the long distance relationship meetups. Intense. That is a huge move! Moving is both exciting and exhausting. What part of Texas? Congrats to your family. I'm sorry you're feeling low about stuff right now. Hugs to you.
@Mrs Bunchy: I think working with an RE is going to be a really good thing for you. I don't have infertility coverage, but I was surprised at how much they were able to bill and get covered for me, and I hope it can be the same for you! I know 1 follie is disappointing, I've been there (I had only 1 after a ramped up dose of Follistim), but it only takes 1 to get pregnant! And now you're not having to worry about multiples.
@Mrs. Polish: I hope things are ok. I won't pry, but you can always share if that helps. Is your husband the cook at your home today? I was thinking of creating a "just hanging out" section for our updated list, b/c that's what I feel like I'm doing and it seems like it would be a good category for you, too!
blogger / nectarine / 2010 posts
@Happygal: a just hanging out category is fine with me. I'm definitely the cook now, but he knows how to...he just says things are better when I make them. We've had show dogs for ten years and they were stolen a couple weeks ago. We've been desperately searching for them and one turned up yesterday, so we're hoping the rest do today. It's been very stressful and emotional around here.
Eta: to clarify, dh has been showing dogs for ten years, the stolen dogs aren't ten years old.

@Mrs. Polish: what?! That's horrible! How many dogs were stolen? I can't believe it. Horrifying.

@LindsayInNY: good luck with the HSG today! Take some advil beforehand!
@Mrs. Polish: hope everything is ok (ETA: OMG I just saw your update! How terrible!!)
@bhbee: I saw your other thread about the FRERs... I hope this turns out to be a BFP and a sticky one!
@Happygal: thanks for the list! **Cycle 25 for me (this upcoming IVF cycle, that is, since I'm 10dpo of this cycle)

I'm not sure if I fit in our not.... I'm 35 and on cycle 7, so according to my insurance I belong..
I don't cook, so I have never really made anything for my husband. But our first date was Mortons. Yum.
Update:
- Had HSG on CD12, everything fine
- DH had SA yesterday (separate post)
- I'm about 8 DPO
Next steps: After AF shows, I will have more CD3 work and then will start treatments.
Hopefully, it's okay if I join.

@Happygal: there were 5, 4 still missing. The mom was returned last night, the other four are her 1yo pups.
@LindsayInNY: yeah, those were ours.
@Shutterbug: it has been pretty awful. We've been busy checking national lost and founds, but now it's looking like they never left our area.

@Shutterbug: sending good thoughts for getting started with your next round!
@Happygal: Ugh. limbo land. But that is hilarious that you gave yourselves gas from the nachos. What a memory!
@just_ju: Sending good thoughts!
@LindsayInNY: Hope your HSG today is easy and pain free! And acupuncture is great, so relaxing. It really did wonders for my cycle before I started on meds.
@thisisme: Happy TTW'ing! And very similarly, this is the first cycle ever I actually know we have a small chance, because my body is actually doing what it's supposed to (due to injections, but still!). It is so nice to have a little hope again and I wish you so much good luck on your beta.
@MrsTal: I'm 5DPO (and IUI) today too! And when I was on Clomid I had every pregnancy symptom possible, which was beyond frustrating. Hang in there, and good luck with your second opinion appointment!
@lazypanda: sending good vibes for good progesterone numbers!
@bhbee: thinking of you and holding out hope that it is still just too early. That sounds like a great opportunity for your husband, but I'm sure it's hard to have that added pressure with a looming move and finding a new RE. Hopefully he'll get to work from home for a while to make things easier on you. Moving states is hard enough without the added logistics of insurance and new doctors to deal with!
@mrs bunchy: sorry to hear you had a rough Tuesday. Moving up to an RE can be a bit stressful and depressing sometimes, but I hope that it will bring you some answers. Just having an expert in your corner and building a plan of action together can sometimes be enough to lift your spirits a little.
@Mrs. Polish: keeping you in my thoughts, and sorry to hear about your dogs. How stressful! Hoping the others are found soon!
@Happygal: thanks for making the list!
@littlek: of course you are welcome! And sending lots of luck for your TWW!
I have no idea what the first meal I cooked my husband was. We were in college, so it couldn't have been fancy. I do remember that I taught him how to cook spaghetti right before we officially started dating, because he only knew how to make grilled cheese and hot pockets himself!
No real updates from me, just TWW'ing at 5DPO/DPIUI. Been having some mild on and off cramping the past two days, but I'm guessing it's either still from the trigger or a side effect from the progesterone supps. I've been testing out the trigger and the line was super faint this morning, so hopefully it will be completely out in another day or two.
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@Sprite: @mrswin: @Happygal: thanks for all your good wishes. I don't feel like it will be that disappointing if it's an evap, I've already accepted it. and I think I already see myself taking things better this cycle because the move will give me lots of distractions. even if I get a BFP I'm not rushing into a beta. I'd only do one if I made it to next week with strong lines. betas where you know it's not doubling are just depressing and my RE does not encourage you to come early.
we're moving to Dallas, so nice cosmopolitan area and we know a few people there. it'll be a huge change but a lot of exciting things about it. I just wish we could have moved during the winter to take advantage of warm weather!!!

@lazypanda: I'm taking 5mg of Letrozole this cycle. Good luck with your lab this weekend!
@bhbee: I've had good experiences with Letrozole! I typically only get one follicle, but that's a better response than no follicles on 150mg of Clomid, plus my worst side effects have been headaches and a little more cramping with AF - I'll take cramps and headaches over the Clomid crazies and hot flashes any day :). Crossing fingers your second line wasn't an evap!
@Mrs. Polish: this will be my 4th round of Letrozole, 3rd at 5mg. The first time I was on 2.5mg and it did nothing for me :-/. So sorry to hear about your dogs.
