I'm nearing the end of my TWW after my 2nd IUI/injectables cycle for baby #2. Doing my best to not POAS too early. My beta is on Monday. I'm hoping for good news because my birthday and my son's 1st birthday are weeks away.
I planned a little weekend getaway for my birthday. It will be me, my husband and my son, but I'm excited for a little road trip and an escape from everyday life. I also have control issues so this guarantees I'll be happy on my birthday Doing something that I want, and no pressure on anyone else to make it "just so". Anyone else like to control their birthdays?

Can I join in? Do y'all check in every week? I'm sure people have seen my recent questions, but I have DOR. FSH of 10.9 and AMH of 0.73. We are trying to conceive our 2nd. We have a son that is 19 months old. Today I found out that DH also has low morphology but she didn't tell me the exact numbers. Just that the doctor thinks we should try IUI with injectables for 2 months and then go on to IVF. So we are twiddling our thumbs this cycle waiting for the next go round. Oh and I have an HSG tomorrow morning. Joy. I need this month to fly by.
@sweetooth: Yesterday was my birthday. My DH was very sweet and I had a nice day (as nice as a work day birthday can be) and we are going out for drinks tonight because my in-laws will be here.

November is going to be a busy month for me! We're traveling for our EA consultation. Then we are home for a week, which is my birthday week. Then the next week we are heading to Georgia to visit my family for a week. We're going to log a lot of miles on the road. It should all be fun though!
As far as IF goes my clinic requires a home study review and for DH and I to watch some webinars before they sign off on us. There isn't a lot of time in the evenings to watch hour long videos so I'm hoping we get it done by Sunday. I really want this part of the process finished before our consultation on 11/12. My period also hasn't shown up and I'm starting to stress about it. I guess it won't be the end of the world if we can't transfer until March instead of January, but I really don't want to wait that long.

@Leialou: aw I hope you don't have to wAit that long either!

@travellingbee: Happy belated birthday! Hope you have a fun night out tonight We try to start a check-in thread each week just to give everyone a place to connect and get the support they need while dealing with IF. There are different spin-off support threads, specific to treatments or other topics, but this thread is for everyone So of course you can join. Good luck with your HSG tomorrow. I've heard of people having luck conceiving after their HSG.

no updates this week for me but I will update amongst my grogginess next Thursday after surgery Scared out of my freakin mind but getting it done.

@Leialou: Are you a fellow Scorpio? Your November does sound full! Make some good playlists for your road trip to have a good soundtrack for the month
I hope your consultation goes well and you are able to get through all of your webinars. If AF doesn't show soon, is it bad if you take Provera? Would that allow you to stay on track for January?

@sweetooth: thanks!! I'm so nervous but anxious to get it over with at the same time. Counting down to the day we can start TTC again!!

Oh man. Can I join again? It's been a rough week or so for my emotions.
Last month we were supposed to be back to doing IUIs and I O'd on a Sunday, so we had to wait another whole month.
So, we HOPE to do an IUI in a couple of weeks (I started my cycle yesterday). No meds for me though, so the odds aren't great. We just found out today that DS's step-brother is pregnant with #3 (and emphasized to us a whole lot that they were NOT trying and she was on the pill. ugh). And my friend that I walked through IF with is about to have baby #2. 3.5 years is just a lot of years to try without any positives.
I feel like we've been in this place forever and I'm feeling sad. Sorry to jump in with a negative post!
And no, nothing exciting until the beach in January. THAT should be fun though!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@babycanuck: Are you able to start TTC pretty quickly after you heal from your surgery?
@Mrs. Pinata: Of course you can join - sounds like you need some support {hugs!}. That's rough when your cycle falls on a weekend and your RE doesn't have weekend hours. Have a chat with your cycle this month and tell it to cooperate Seriously though, I do talk to my follicles during the IUI process
It really is so hard to hear about other pregnancies when you are trying for so long. Hugs! No need to apologize for any negativity. Get it all out! It will make you feel better if you share those feelings so you can try and move beyond them and make room for positive, baby-in-your-belly thoughts
And the beach in January?! How awesome is that...
pomegranate / 3105 posts
@sweetooth: Yep - once I get my first real period I can start. I'm due to start AF two days after the surgery, so I don't think it will mess my cycle up at all!

Just been told we will soon miscarry our last FET embryo - I was so positive for this one, too!
Hopefully if this is over soon, we'll be stimming again before the year's end.

My HSG went fine on Friday and she told me my tubes were clear so at the very least, that's good!

I got my blood work on Friday (yay!) so now I'm just waiting to hear back from my doctors office. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get the results, they still don't have the results from my ultrasound so I'm waiting for that too.
This month is busy for me! It's our anniversary so we're going out of town for a few days, and we have our house up for sale. January we move and in Feb/March we're planning on going on vacation. We just need to get over Christmas and we're good to go!
persimmon / 1404 posts
@travellingbee: Awesome news about your tubes being clear! Was the HSG painful?
@jaguar: I'm so sorry *hugs*
@babycanuck: fx that AF comes soon so that you can start TTC again!
@Mrs. Pinata: *hugs* I'm sorry about all of the pregnancy announcements around you, I know how difficult that can be. Good luck with your IUI!
@Leialou: Were you able to watch all of your vides on the weekend? Sounds like you have a pretty busy but productive month coming up
@sweetooth: GL for today! A weekend birthday trip away sounds amazing, it'll be so nice to get away and just relax with your family
blogger / pear / 1563 posts
@sweetooth: Yes! I'm praying it will be WARM there (in FL) even though it's January and the weather can be iffy.
@jaguar: Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry to hear this. Hugs to you! How heartbreaking.
@travellingbee: That IS good!
@alohaorchid: Thanks! And I hope you get your results soon and that they're good! And you DO have a lot going on! Good luck with your busy month and happy anniversary. Our anniversary is in December and I love having a "non summer" anniversary.

Updates... ER went well on Friday. Retrieved 16 eggs, 12 were mature and, as of Saturday, 10 were fertilized! I'll get another report in a few days to see how many make it to the freezer. I'm not keeping track of the days and just going to relax and just wait for the phone call. It's out of my hands at this point.
As for anything exciting coming up, the holidays? Need to keep sane with all the waiting. My RE is getting me back to normal by putting me on a break for 2 months then the FET will be Jan 28th. I start meds in early Jan.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@bluestriped bee: Wow great retrieval! Fingers crossed!
@alohaorchid: Yay that your blood draw is done! No the HSG didn't hurt at all. She said if you've had a baby before your uterus has already stretched and so it doesn't typically hurt. It felt slightly uncomfortable, like a pap, but not painful at all. I was prepared for much worse.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@babycanuck: I hope AF cooperates and you're TTC soon!
@jaguar: Hugs! I hope you're taking good care of yourself and that you can start trying again as soon as you're ready
@travellingbee: yay for clear tubes!
@alohaorchid: Is there a reason why the results take a while? On days that I get bloodwork and ultrasounds for monitoring, I get the results in the afternoon on the same day. // This does sound like a busy time for you! Happy Anniversary and good luck with your house.
@bluestriped bee: So glad to hear that the ER went well! I hope all 10 make it to the freezer and that time flies for you with the holidays!

I want you all to know that I understand that it can be hard when someone share news of pregnancy. I debated whether or not to post here - but I wanted to share good news with you all because it's nice to know that going through infertility treatment can result in good things. I got a positive beta yesterday! I'm over the moon and hoping for doubling numbers as the week progresses!

@bluestriped bee: Looks like we'll be in our TWWs around the same time early next year! I'm going to start BC after Dec AH and scheduling a Jan 2 or 5th for meds to start a fresh cycle immediately.
@sweetooth: Congrats!

@sweetooth: I had debated on whether or not to congratulate you on the Pregnancy After IF thread, where I don't belong...yet! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

@Shutterbug: Let's just say that it went, lol. I cried and almost left but I got it done and I didn't pass out. Now I'm just hoping that I don't have to go back for more!
@travellingbee: I'm glad it didn't hurt for you. I've heard some huge horror stories about it!
@sweetooth: Thank you We might have free healthcare but it's s.l.o.w! Congratulations on your news!!!

My doctors office just called, they have the results of my blood work and would like me to come in "at the doctors earliest appointment" to discuss the results of both my blood work and ultrasound. His earliest appointment is November 13th. So in 9 days I should hopefully have a real diagnosis!

@Leialou: @Shutterbug: @PurplePumps: @FliegepilzHut: @alohaorchid: Thank you all so much! I will always and forever send positive thoughts to everyone going through infertility treatments
@alohaorchid: Ah, free healthcare...amazing. It's interesting that they don't tell you anything over the phone. I hope you get the answers you need to move forward on 11/13

So I just received a phone call from my REs office. The results of the HSG showed that my tubes were clear, but that there was some sort of possible polyp in my uterus? They want me to do a hysteroscopy next month. Anyone had this done? Is it painful? Also got The actual morphology results, and it was at 3%. I asked about prices of the IUIs with injectable cycles that they recommended that we do. Each one should cost about $3000. We also could choose to go straight to IVF since it has a higher success rate. What would y'all do?
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@travellingbee: That's a hard call. Definitely get the hysteroscopy out of the way... Did your RE seem to think that your DH's overall counts and motility would make IUI a good option? If I had IF insurance (I guess you don't either), I would almost certainly go straight to IVF! What are you and your DH leaning toward?
nectarine / 2705 posts
@travellingbee: My HSG revealed a fibroid and I had a saline sonogram to confirm it, and then a hysteroscopy to remove it. I was out for the procedure and don't remember a thing. So I'd say it was painless I do think it's good to have that taken care of before any treatments to be sure your uterus is a happy home for your embryos. As for the decision on IUI/injectibles vs IVF - that's hard to say. I know that cost is a part of the decision. But I'd also say that IUI/injectibles are a lot less taxing on the body & mind. So as with any of the infertility decisions, it's tied to physical, emotional & financial concerns. For what it's worth, I'm an IUI/injectibles success story. But we did not have any morphology concerns.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@FliegepilzHut: no, no insurance coverage. I guess really it's just a gamble. Best case scenario, we get pregnant with the first our UI and it only cost us $3000. Worst case scenario, we try 2 IUIs at $6000, then go to IVF and now we've paid for both. I guess worst case scenario really would be if we had to do more than one IVF on top of 2 IUIs.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@sweetooth: oh they didn't mention putting me under!!! They said it'd be in the office... Glad to hear of an IUI success... Were you high FSH/low AMH? Did you get a bfp the first IUI? Maybe we should try one and see how I respond then decide if we try another or go to IVF...
nectarine / 2705 posts
@travellingbee: I was not high FSH/low AMH. We got our BFP after our third IUI for #1, and second IUI for #2. You might not need to go as far as IVF. Definitely talk with your doctor about the success rates for IUIs and your diagnosis
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@travellingbee: We were faced with the same decision a few months ago and opted to go straight to IVF after oral meds and IUIs. DH's SA are great so there was no reason to expect IUI's to be that much more successful than TI so we went to IVF for the highest chance and most control since our insurance would cover most of 1 round. At this point, I just want to do whatever will give me the highest chances. My first IVF was a bust, I didn't even have a single embryo for a day 3 transfer, but they were able to see that many of the eggs were polyspermic and we may have an egg quality quality issue and should do ICSI... and we never would have known this with IUI. If injections/IUI failed, it would have just been another shot in the dark with no insight as to why it failed. I'm slightly more optimistic for the second round now.
