Hi ladies. I've slowly been creeping my way back around. No updates on the if front. I've been on bcp for almost six months because I couldn't handle having the added stress of a never ending period. Focusing on losing weight (ugh...again) to try to control my pcos.
I hope you're all well.

It's not a new focus, but per usual, trying to finish up some little home project - rewiring our entertainment center, moving all the equipment to the basement and running the cabling back upstairs. Next on the list - paint the kitchen cabinets.. after finding a new color. And getting motivated to work out/run again... I stopped 3 months ago and the lbs are creeping up again.

Work...and house cleaning.
Still waiting here, but FET will be coming soon!

I'm in a 6 week training course for work that has quite a bit of homework. So I've been spending a lot of time on that.
My consultation is next week! I'm having a mock transfer done that day and started estrace yesterday wait CD 1. They wanted me to be on CD 11-20 during the appointment. If AF had cooperated and shown up at her usual CD 30 instead of CD 40 I would have been. Fortunately I won't have to reschedule the appointment though because it takes months to get one. I scheduled mine in August.

@Leialou: Sorry AF didn't cooperate - but I'm glad to hear you won't have to reschedule. Good luck at your consultation and with your mock transfer!

@Leialou: I hope that the mock transfer goes well! It's exciting that everything is moving along.
I found out that I have something like a polyp in my uterus and they are going to do a hysteroscopy in the beginning of the next cycle. We are going to try to proceed with an IUI cycle next cycle anyway. Best case scenario is that they find it is just a small polyp and can remove it quickly. Then we would be able to continue with the injectables and I UI . Worst case scenario, it isn't a polyp and it is something else that they need to go and do a D&C for. If that is the case, I would have to stop the injectables and not do the IUI that cycle.
What else of my focusing on this week? Work and getting organized in my house. Also excited to meet up with some bees tomorrow!

@Leialou: I'm glad you get to go ahead with your mock transfer! How is the Estrace treating you (better/worse/different than BCPs)? I'll be starting in a day or two!

@travellingbee: FX for a quick and (relatively) easy fix with the hysteroscopy!

@FliegepilzHut: it's not bad. I can't even tell I'm on it. The brand of birth control I was using only gave me side effects when I had to double up.

DH had GI surgery on Tuesday, so I'm mending him back to health.
Updates. None really. Yesterday, got the report that 7 made it to the freezer! Woohoo! Feeling good. I might have mild OHSS but last night I didn't wake up from a stomach ache. I, also, didn't take my 8 pills that I usually take before bed. Maybe that helped the stomach ache, too.

No IF news from me, just waiting for my doctors appointment on Thursday to find out the results of my tests.
Things to focus on that is not TTC related, we're going out of town this weekend for our anniversary and we have a long weekend! I'm also focusing on our house, which still hasn't sold... it's starting to stress me out. Ugh.

@Mrs. Polish: Welcome back! What are you doing to control your PCOS?
@PurplePumps: That sounds like a lot to keep you busy! What colours are you considering for the cabinets?
@Leialou: Good luck with the mock transfer! Sorry that AF didn't cooperate, but at least you can still go ahead with it. A 6 week training course sounds intense! Is it in your hometown or do you have to go somewhere else for it?
@travellingbee: a bee meet up would be so much fun, I hope you have a great time! I will keep you in my thoughts, I really hope that you can still proceed with your IUI next cycle.
@FliegepilzHut: Things are coming up fast, I'm getting excited for you!
@bluestriped bee: That is awesome news!! Yay for getting so many to freeze. I love that you're taking a break before FET, I think it's a great idea to let your body have a break from all the hormones before the transfer. I hope your DH is feeling better!

@alohaorchid: right now just bcp. I'm working on diet and exercise, but life has been hectic so I haven't been so great about it. Have a fabulous weekend! Happy anniversary!
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@Leialou: Thank you! Still waiting for my CD#1....
@alohaorchid: I am getting pretty excited...and trying not to be nervous!
Can anyone help me out? I'm trying to remember when my period should start after stopping BCPs... I think it used to be 2 days...but during my fresh IVF cycle, it took 4. I'm hoping for 3 this time around. Does anyone have any experience with this?
kiwi / 613 posts
@FliegepilzHut: Mine has varied I think, but between 2-4! You're getting so close!!!!

@FliegepilzHut: I thought it was two days, too, but for me it was longer. I think 3-4 days for me.

Hi ladies!
Surgery was done and successful - I go on Wednesday to get my balloon removed and I can't wait because I'm a little bit uncomfortable. I want to get back into working out and keeping my mind busy until I get AF again! Feeling good, all went well.
I put up my little Christmas/Chrismukkah tree yesterday and am going to start wrapping presents.

@babycanuck: great news and update!!! Hope you feel better soon and AF is here before you know it.

@Mrs. Polish: Hi there! I hope your weight loss journey is successful!
@PurplePumps: That sounds like a complicated project! I hope it goes well and you love the results of your home projects.
@Leialou: Keep us posted on your apt! I'm so glad that it's so soon!
@travellingbee: I hope they can get rid of the polyp super easily!
@bluestriped bee: I'm totally out of touch. Are you in the middle of an IVF cycle now? Or did you already have the transfer? Sorry I can't remember! 7 frozen sounds great!
@babycanuck: So glad the surgery was successful! I'm super impressed you're already decorating for the holidays! I'm just trying to keep the house clean.
We had an IUI today. But, DH's number weren't good at all. We don't know the morphology, but count and motility weren't nearly as good as they've been before. Today the count was about 1/5 the total count of his numbers back in April/May. So, we're not feeling very positive about it and are pretty discouraged after all the healthy stuff we've been implementing since June. We absolutely can NOT figure out the connection to DH's lifestyle and his sperm analyses! His numbers seem to be all over the place unfortunately.
Non-IF-wise I've been working hard on my essential oils business and have been having a lot of classes, and sharing, etc. We've seen so many positive effects on so many areas of our lives, but apparently not in fertility! Blah.

@momazon: @bluestriped bee: Yep, 4 days again. But hopefully that will still be plenty of time to build up a nice lining by the time of my monitoring appt on the 21st!
@babycanuck: So glad you're doing well! I can't believe it's time to wrap presents already!
@Mrs. Pinata: Phooey. Has your DH been to a urologist? Maybe there aren't any lifestyle issues impacting his SA...
blogger / pear / 1563 posts
@FliegepilzHut: Yes, he has! We've talked to 3 different urologists. 2 said his numbers weren't that bad and we should be able to get pregnant eventually on our own (whomp, whomp since it's been almost 4 years now), and another found varicoceles that he said were so small they wouldn't be worth doing the procedure on and that we would be better off doing IVF w/ICSI. So, yeah. Pretty much opposite answers! But, none of the urologists (or REs) recommending doing anything about the varicoceles.
It's more of a testosterone issue, so we've been going to a chiropractor. that claims he has had 100% success with people getting pregnant by giving them the right supplements their body needs. From the get-go I told him he better be prepared to lower his success rate working with us (maybe not the best mind-body connection strategy, but this was NOT our first rodeo), but it has kind of been our last-ditch attempt to improve his numbers. Sigh. So frustrating!

I'm in my two week wait from my IUI Thursday. Ugh just trying to keep busy. IUI last month didn't work.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@Mrs. Pinata: So my RE gave me the protocol of doing the ER then allowing my body to rest for 2 months then doing the FET. So my complete IVF cycle (ER & FET) will span 3 months. (Actually my IVF calendar for each part was 3 months each because I had to start bcp a month before my RE... Ugh 6 months of waiting... It's okay, I'm almost halfway there.) My FET is planned for Jan 28th. My RE thinks it will give me a higher success rate and give my embryo (or do we call them blastocysts?) the best chance because I'll be off all the stimming meds. I think there have been at least 1 or 2 HBers who have done this same protocol. They were successful. Hoping it works for us. Only downside is all the waiting but I'm trying to concentrate on enjoying the holidays.

CD8 here. I had reread Making Babies, and I am wondering if I have luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome, where the egg is not released from the follicle, but progesterone and temp go up, so it looks like you're fully ovulating. I am adding an herb to help with that (worst case: time and money wasted). I am also adding evening primrose oil instead of preseed since my CM is rarely good, and trying acupuncture again.
In other news, DH and I are bidding on a farm tomorrow night at an auction. We have always wanted one, and this one is in a great location. It has an old farmhouse that we would renovate. Excited yet terrified!

Soooo went today to have the balloon removed from my uterus from surgery, what a weird conversation!
Gyno: "Well your septum was impressive!"
Me: "Ummm....what does that mean?!"
Gyno: "Usually I do these surgeries and it's you know...meh. Yours was bigger than I expected, though!"
Me: "Ok...........*awkward silence*"
lol. bizarre. She said it could take up to 6 weeks to get my full period back which bums me out. I go back in another 3 weeks to ensure things are good then schedule a HSG when I do get my period.
blogger / pear / 1563 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: I read that book too and worried about the same thing! I think your RE can confirm if you've ovulated or not by doing ultrasounds right around ovulation to see if there's a corpus luteum. I haven't done that though. And exciting about the farm! Good luck!
@babycanuck: Well, that sounds good! Isn't it interesting the conversations you have when dealing with IF that most people in life wouldn't understand a bit?
nectarine / 2192 posts
@Mrs. Pinata: Thanks!
We got the farm. I am so happy/shocked. I told some of my coworkers, and two people individually asked when we were going to have kids. Apparently, DINKs can't buy a farm. When I dodged the question of the second person, the first person overheard, and they both had this weird look between the two.
We have to do EXTENSIVE renovations, and we need to decide how soon we can afford that. We will probably live in our current house until it is finished. This brings up all kinds of IF issues: do we design it for the two children we hope to have? What if we're just two old people with no kids on a huge farm? I had envisioned having everything settled when we had kids, and assuming I get pregnant at some point, where will we be in this renovation/moving process? We seem to have lots of things happen at once- like in one week, DH graduated, we got engaged, and closed on a house. I wonder if this will be the same?
blogger / pear / 1563 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Congrats!! And you know, I feel like life is just one transition after another, so I say take it one step at a time. So exciting about the renovations! Good luck!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@babycanuck: OMG. LOL! Yeah, that is awkward!
@AmeliaBedilia: Congrats on getting the farm! How big is the farm? Will you have animals? Very cool! Yeah, I can see your dilemma. I would suggest that you renovate what you can afford for now and update or make it work when you have kids.
