Hi, Ladies!
I thought I'd start another IF check-in board for us that isn't necessarily POAS-related.
How is everyone? What are your 4th of July plans (if American) / weekend plans?

I had my x-ray guided cortisone injection into my hip to try to help avoid surgery on a labral tear / associated ilio-psoas tendinitis and a fluid-filled cyst. I felt GREAT for a while yesterday after the injection, because of the numbing meds, but boy does it hurt now. Doc said 72 hours until it *should* calm down. <fingers crossed for no surgery!>
This weekend I have acupuncture, and we're hoping the weather is nice enough to have friends over for a pool party / bbq prior to going to see fireworks on Saturday.
We're also trying to move bedrooms in the house, now that our bedroom has been renovated (new HW floors, paint). Lots of chores!

Hey guys, happy 4th - even if it's already the 5th here in Aus.
We're doing a medicated FET this round, so on oestrogen supps and ultrasound is next week to check lining.

Heading to the beach today! Yesterday was pretty crappy (weather-wise), so we just binge watched a whole lotta Netflix I had a bad day on Friday, my good friend told me his wife is pregnant after 'trying for 3 months,' right after I told him I've been having a hard time and will likely be doing ivf in August. Cool.

@MrsKRB: Ugh, I'm sorry. How are you doing? AFM, I'm on CD3 of my IVF prep cycle. Got AF on the 4th, so we made red white and blue frosty (alcoholic) drinks and I tried not to think about it. I'm nervous about IVF but excited to have better odds.
@ballerinabee: Thanks for starting this thread! We were on Cape Cod for the 4th, had a cookout with friends and family and saw some great fireworks on the beach. I also went to an amazing hot yoga class which I wouldn't let myself do in the 2ww, but when AF arrived I grabbed my mat and ran to the studio
@jaguar: Where in Aus are you? I have in-laws in Paynesville and recently went for an amazing visit to Sydney and Melbourne.

@YogiRunner: sounds like a great weekend! I'm having a really hard time with all this lately, I thought I would be a lot stronger! It's crazy to me that I will probably starting ivf soon, I think I'm still in denial that there is anything wrong!

@jaguar: hoping and wishing for a successful medicated FET cycle for you! I have a HS friend in AUS and I always love to see her pictures, because as we're sweating, her kids are in winter hats and scarves and vice versa. Someday I hope to visit!
@MrsKRB: Jealous about the beach! It was unseasonably cool and rainy here this weekend, so I shivered in the pool with my 3yo. He kept insisting that he wasn't cold, even though is lips were purple and he was shivery. The fun definitely outweighs the cold for him! I'm sorry about your friend's insensitivity. People who haven't been through it just don't get it.
@YogiRunner: Hooray for starting your IVF cycle! Your weekend sounds wonderful. I used to live in the Boston area, and I love the Cape! So pretty (but I don't miss the traffic!).
My 4th was filled with ex drama (my husband's ex - mother of my stepsons), so my DH was unexpectedly away for 3 days dealing with that. I made the most of the weekend with my 3yo, and watched A Capitol 4th (DC) and the Macy's 4th (NYC) fireworks on tv while sipping a lovely bourbon drink.

@ballerinabee: ugh sorry for the drama sounds like you had a great weekend! I would love a bourbon drink right now, probably will help myself to one in a few days when AF shows!

We had our first RE appointment Friday. He says SA is ok, and thinks I have a short LP due to prolactin. He also thinks some autoimmune issues and insulin resistance might be a factor, and endo less likely. He started me on cabergoline, and ordered labs (done today)- NK cells, prolactin, TSH, testosterone, insulin, glucose, and AMH. I am praying that the NK cells and AMH come back fine, since those are not easily fixable. My FSH was 6 1.5 years ago, and there's family history of babies in mid-late 30s.
On the upside, I did some research, and I think the prolactin fits. My RE said that I have enough symptoms to suggest that prolactin will have benefit regardless of my lab value (plus I started it a few days prior). I'm hoping it kicks in quickly to give us a chance this cycle. I started it CD7, and it can work in a couple weeks. The side effects are terrible, but I'm trying to hang in there and since today is CD11, to BD lots this week.

@YogiRunner: Hey chick, I'm in Sydney!
@AmeliaBedilia: Good luck with those labs, it sounds like a good thorough appt. x
@ballerinabee: I know, it's crazy seeing you guys and your summers, while we're freezing over here!! xx

@AmeliaBedilia: I 'm glad they're finally doing something for you! I'm sorry the side effects stink, but at least you can feel like you're actively doing something to get your BFP. I hope the rest of your labs come back normal, and that it's just (fixable) prolactin at issue. <fx for you!>
@jaguar: I can't wait to see Australia someday, and hopefully NZ and New Guinea too. My grandparents on both sides were avid world travelers, so I have their stories and my friends who live there filling my FB with gorgeous pictures. One of my good friends from HS got married on a glacier in NZ. The pictures are stunning. Just the two of them, their officiant, and the helicopter pilot.
So, I learned something the hard way this week. I read that black cohosh can be a good fertility / egg quality supplement and started taking it on CD1, along with Vitex & maca root. My period has been AWFUL this month. It started late Tues night last week and was horrendous (cramps, flow & clots) for over a week. I said something to my acupuncturist on Tues when I went in because I wondered if the acupuncture was the culprit. I also told her about the supplements I'd added. She researched it and said that black cohosh, while good for egg quality, causes bleeding and clotting and shouldn't be taken for IF until AF stops. It can cause miscarriage or early labor in pregnant women. So, I stopped taking it immediately on Tuesday, and AF is STILL lingering. It usually lasts ~4-5 days for me, with the last day or two being very light / spotting, so this is craziness. And the blood was really dark red/black. So, lesson learned. Only take black cohosh after AF stops and only until O is confirmed. Yikes.

@ballerinabee: Wow! It's crazy what herbs can do (for better or worse!) I'm sorry AF sucked this month. The things you learn the hard way while TTC... I'm still dumbfounded that it's not more widely published that ibuprofen and regular lube are both big no-nos. I wish there were more clear do's and don'ts out there!
apricot / 452 posts
@YogiRunner: absolutely! I had no idea that either were bad for TTC until we had trouble and I started doing research. I take a LOT of ibuprofen when not TTC, so that was tough for me.
I'm trying to decide whether TTC next week or not - I have a dr's appt next Thurs to decide if I'm having hip surgery, and if I am, I want to have it right away so I can start IVF in Sept with a good hip (hopefully minimize my lower back pain too). But, if he says no surgery yet, I don't want to waste trying. I wish my appt were not right around the day I should O!! WWYD?

@ballerinabee: I hate that everything in life has to be in question or put on hold because of ttc I would probably still try this month and hope everything works itself out in the end!

@ballerinabee: I would try. Otherwise you might wonder what would have happened. Hugs!
I'm in chart hell. I started cabergoline 7/3. I took my temp at a much later time for the two days after (normal, but not the elevated temps that should have been for temping late). Then my temps have plummeted. Temp jumped on CD14, but still it's pretty low. I'm on femara, metformin, and cabergoline. I consistently O CD15 on my own, seem to O CD14 on femara, and have read that cabergoline can make you ovulate sooner. I found a study online that there is a relationship between lower body temperature in rats with stimulating Dopamine receptors (what cabergoline does). I'm trying to figure out whether I O'd CD13 (what I think but might be trying to convince myself) vs. having an anovulatory cycle. Please help!

Here are the charts - first as is, second with a few temps discarded. I'm going crazy here.

My RE just called. Labs are a disaster. My natural killer cells are 34%, normal is under 10%. AMH is 0.2, prolactin slightly elevated and TSH 2.7. He wants me to continue I Cabergoline for the prolactin, start synthroid, and do prednisone for implantation. He wants to recheck AMH. I am completely flipping out.

@AmeliaBedilia: I'm so sorry Try to take a breath and at least now that you have the results back, the plan can be started. Thinking of you
apricot / 452 posts
@AmeliaBedilia: Wow. That's a lot to take in. On the positive side, you have some known issues to target.
I didn't know much about NKC, but here's some promising research out of an IVF conference:

I really hope the plan they've put together for you works! <hugs>
