Happy Thursday!
The only update from me IF wise is that I have a doctor's appointment on October 7th. I'm going to ask him for a referral (again) to an RE. Other than that, I'm still struggling with the CP. Even though it was 2 months ago I think I've been so busy over the past 8 weeks that it's only really starting to sink in now. AF was due a couple of days ago so I know that's not helping my mood.

Happy Thursday indeed, especially since I decided to take tomorrow off! Nothing new on the TTC front, just waiting to hear back from the RE what she recommends next. Wont be trying IVF again until January. In the meantime, looking into acupuncture and researching own my own about various things. I was recommended the book "it starts with the egg". Has any one read that one and have feedback or any other recommendations?

No updates... Just waiting for AF to arrive in the next day or two. And DH enrolled for new insurance (new job) so I have to call them to find out all the coverage information. I have a rough idea but want specifics. Then it's on to IUI #3 (already?!).
@alohaorchid: I hope you can get that referral
@PurplePumps: Haven't heard of that book? What's it about? I'm open to anything at this point

@PurplePumps: I've never read that book. Is it about IVF or IF in general?

My only update is we have our home visit scheduled for next Thursday! I'm excited.

@LindsayInNY: @Leialou: I'm not really sure either, someone recommended it to me when I mentioned the doctor saying there was an egg quality issue my last cycle.

@LindsayInNY: Congrats on DH's new job, but changing insurance is a pain.
CD9 on my first femara cycle. Side effects have been way worse than expected and I am feeling discouraged. I'm trying to work on my stress level. Depending on when I O, I could test on our anniversary- a BFP would be extra awesome. I have a doctor's appt next month and hoping to have to change it to a prenatal visit.

@alohaorchid: Hugs! It's always when things calm down that your mind has a chance to really process things. I hope you get your referral quickly and you can start getting some answers soon. Maybe that will help process your CP a little more.
@PurplePumps: I need to take a day off! Hope you have a nice long weekend. Good luck with your research. I think it's a great idea to really understand your options and ask questions.
@LindsayInNY: I know it's hard to keep going on the positivity - but you know the saying "Third times a charm"- that could be you! Hope everything transfers smoothly with the insurance.
@Leialou: YAY! Good luck next Thursday!
@AmeliaBedilia: A BFP on your anniversary would be awesome! Be sure to plan lots of good things no matter what. Your anniversary deserves a celebration. I hope the side effects subside soon and you're able to work through the stress.

I had my CD12 appointment this AM and we're all systems go for trigger tonight and IUI on Sunday! I'm feeling good and hoping to stay in this positive place for the next few weeks. My body has been doing the work for these first few weeks, and now my mind needs to take over.

@LindsayInNY: @sweetooth: thanks ladies! Last time he referred me I think it took around 3 months for an appointment. We thought it would be longer so I was kind of shocked and we decided not to go through with it. Hopefully it's just as fast this time around, but if not it's not like I'm not used to waiting. My family doctor is pretty good with sending me for tests, etc. so I'll see what I can do with him first. It's been a while since my last ultrasound (where they found the cysts) so it's probably worthwhile to see if things have changed at all.
Af showed up today so my mood has definitely lightened. Sometimes I have no PMS and other months it's horrible. This month was a horrible one!
@PurplePumps: sounds interesting! Let us know what you thinkg of it, I'm willing to read anything that might shed some light on ways to help fertility.
@Leialou: that's so exciting! And came around so fast!
@LindsayInNY: Congrats to your dh on his new job! I hope it's easy to go through the new insurance and they have the coverage you need
@AmeliaBedilia: fx for an anniversary bfp for you!
@sweetooth: I think your attitude right now is great! I have everything crossed for you

I'm anxiously awaiting Thursday to go to the surgeon.
Work has been horrible, and I want to change jobs, but DH says I shouldn't since things with my body should be resolved soon and hopefully I'll be KU at some point.
Only working Mon/Tues this week because of religious holidays - yay for short work weeks!

@babycanuck: Hugs! Sorry to hear about work- what's going on? At least it's a short week.
CD12 here. We had a crazy busy weekend and are exhausted, so we're just relaxing tonight. I usually O CD15, but who knows with the femara? Our plan is at least every other day starting with CD8, and hopefully most days this week. I am trying to stay hydrated to help CM. I am also going to try to meditate every day this week.

@AmeliaBedilia: Loooooong story but basically our manager was replaced by a contractor. We went to HR with some concerns and they threw it back in our faces. My whole team is planning to quit before end of year

@alohaorchid: I'm sorry! Sometimes I tend to have delayed reactions to hard things in my life as well, especially if my life is particularly busy around the time they happen. I hope you get your RE referral and can come up with a plan. That really helped me!
@PurplePumps: I have heard good things about that book, but I haven't read it.
@Leialou: Yay! That's great!
@LindsayInNY: That's great that your DH got a new job! When my DH switched jobs, the insurance company was great about explaining everything to me. I hope you have the same experience!
@AmeliaBedilia: A BFP on your Anniversary would be awesome! FX for you!
@sweetooth: FX crossed for you! I hope this is your cycle!
@babycanuck: So sorry things aren't going well at work! That's so hard. I hope things get better! Good luck with the surgeon on Thursday!
I am patiently waiting for my 5 day transfer tomorrow! My ER was last Thursday and it went really well. They collected 26 eggs. There were some that were over mature (long story but I had to trigger a day late), but we ended up with 14 fertilizing.
My RE told us at our WTF appointment that we would definitely do a day 3 transfer this cycle because all of my embryos had arrested at day 5 last cycle. So, you can imagine my surprise on Saturday when I got the phone call that the embryologist definitely wanted a day 5 transfer. I kept asking if they were sure and was told they were definitely sure! I was SO happy. It's so nice to finally get some good news on the TTC front. We haven't had much of it. FX that this cycle is positive for us!

@Sunshine1810: That's really great news! Everything FX'ed for your xfer tomorrow!
CD1 for me today, and it's actually a relief for it to show. this time Hopefully I'll finally feel more normal and less bloaty and crampy 24/7. Definitely a cycle off from any sort of meds for now and going to start getting my butt back in the gym after 2 months of slacking off.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@alohaorchid: Yeah, sometimes it can take a little while to get an appointment with an RE. I remember that too, when we made the decision to see an RE, and then the wait for our first appointment. It's definitely a good idea to take a look inside and make sure everything is a-ok for your future baby Thanks for crossing everything for me
@babycanuck: I hope Thursday is here before you know it! And I'm sorry to hear about the work stresses I'm sure it's hard to only think of one thing at a time - but for now, focus on Thursday and then look in to the job hunt.
@AmeliaBedilia: EOD BD, hydration and meditation - sounds like a great plan! Best of luck to you this cycle!
@Sunshine1810: Thank you! So glad to hear about your great ER and I hope the transfer goes well today! Good news is SO great to receive during this journey. I hope that after today, your next batch of good news is a BFP!
@PurplePumps: Enjoy the cycle free from meds, and full of good things for you! Gym time, fun time, relaxation and no appointments

I had my IUI on Sunday. I'm so glad to be through the injections stage and on to the prometrium. I had forgotten how "lovely" these little suppositories make you feel I wore my husband's socks to the IUI so it was like he was there with me. It always feels so crazy to think I'm getting pregnant without him in the room. So the socks thing helped me Whatever it takes, right? (I guess there's also a little tube of him in the room )
Here's to a speedy TWW!

I just tried to get some information about my benefits and I'm FLOOOORED by the drug cost, and their story didn't quite make sense. I have a benefit max of $7500 for medication, and my doctor had thought that would cover 2 or 3 rounds, but they told me that I'd reached it already. They said that they billed my insurance 13k for just my 4 gonal pens and that alone wiped out the max. 13k, really!?!! I was like, shit! Does that mean I should expect a $4500 bill to cover the rest over my max? And she said no, the difference was already made up for by my copay... but I only paid $170 copay for that medication, so it doesn't add up! Then she said that's what they billed, but that's not the contracted rate between insurance and manufacturer, but she couldn't tell me how much was paid for it and she just couldn't explain it in a way that made sense. But really?? 13k for 4 gonal pens, 3250 each??, does that sound remotely reasonable?

My cousin's wife is pregnant and due around the time I would have been due if we didn't have a cp. Ugh.
@sweetooth: thank you Good luck with your TWW! I love that you wore his socks
@babycanuck: Sorry to hear about how work is for you lately. I hope things get better! And, GL for Thursday!
@Sunshine1810: That's awesome news! Eveything sounds great for you guys. Good luck today!!!
@PurplePumps: I hope you're feeling better today

@PurplePumps: I did a quick check on a drug website I have access to and it looks like it's around $900 in Canada. I'm not sure if that helps though... although I do think over $3,000 sounds ridiculous!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@PurplePumps: That does not sounds reasonable. My 3 Gonal-F pens were somewhere around $4k total (on the invoice... I paid $50 copay). We're in the same state, but I have BCBS for insurance. What's the pharmacy, Village?
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@Shutterbug: I have UHC, and we're required to go through CVS Caremark for coverage.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@PurplePumps: That seems WAY off to me. This is the pharmacy I go through and it looks like gonal-f pens do range in price depending on dosage included, but no where near $3250 each. http://www.freedomfertility.com/fertility-medications/medications-and-pricing.aspx
The financial part of this process is so stressful sometimes. On Sunday, after my IUI, I was trying to be in my "zen state of mind" and at checkout they start discussing my outstanding balance, and all of this insurance crap. I'm like - not NOW woman! I'm trying to stay zen, and get pregnant, I don't have TIME to talk $$$ with you.
@alohaorchid: ugh! Sorry to hear that about your cousin's wife. That's so hard...HUGS!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@sweetooth: lol, I hear ya. I was about to have a breakdown hearing CVS's prices (adding up the 4 meds I got for last cycle, Gonal, Ganerelix, Edo, and Novarel, they billed a total of just over 16k to my insurance, what a huge scam) thinking I might have to pay that myself if next cycle doesnt work. Thanks for the link... that's a huge relief.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@PurplePumps: wow, that is a serious racket they have going on over there at CVS! I had the same 4 meds on my first IVF cycle (3 900iu Gonal pens, 5 Ganirelix, 1 Novarel and I think 30 Endometrin) and the amount they billed my ins co was less that HALF that much.
ETA: if you have to self-pay, definitely look into Village Pharmacy in Waltham (they ship overnight too), or Freedom (online).
nectarine / 2192 posts
My update: CD14, waiting to O. I never have great CM, which might be part of the problem, but I have been using preseed or conceive plus since December. I have been drinking tons of water plus daily green tea. We are BD daily at this point, but I keep forgetting to meditate.
kiwi / 613 posts
@PurplePumps: That sucks! That's crazy! Oh yeah, CVS/ Walgreens/etc are so much more expensive. It's such a racket.
If you have to do self-pay next time, make sure to call around first! My pharmacy Ambulatory Care Pharmacy is MD has better pricing than Freedom for Bravelle, Menopur, Endometrin and Novarel, and they ship overnight. Also, also be sure to research the rebate and savings programs (like IVFGreenlight.com and Go Direct to Savings, etc) if you're needing to do self pay.
Once you switch over to your new plan in January, and the meds max resets, can you call the insurance company and give them the pricing to see if you can get approval to use one of the specialty pharmacies and have it still covered?
