Do you still send your LO? I'm a part time WOHM and daycare is open for MLK, but DH and I have the day off. We are planning a rare day to ourselves. My mom thinks this is just horrible and we should keep the twins home. Is this something I should be feeling guilty about?

I keep her home (my mom guilts me too haha) on vacation days and snow days. But most of the other parents send their kids. On this upcoming spring break I might send her one day so I can have a "me day" - and I won't feel guilty!

Haha! When I was in my 20s, I couldn't believe parents did that. Luckily, I had LO in my 30s when I am wiser and understand the importance of a "me day" every once in a while. Don't feel guilty.

I kept her home the week of Christmas when I was off of work (even though daycare was only closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) but that's because a bunch of other kids were staying home and I didn't want her to be one of the only ones there in her class. I'm off of work tomorrow and daycare is open and I'm totally sending her! I'll just pick her up a little earlier than usual. Enjoy your day off and don't feel guilty!

Oh hell no! Bonus babysitting day?! I totally send him in, at least for part of the day. He naps much better there and enjoys his friends. Maybe it depends on age, but at almost 2, he prefers to play there than run errands with me.

We've had a couple date days doing this and I've had a few days just to myself. It is nice to get a bunch of errands done without dragging a toddler around.
I definitely wouldn't feel guilty.

Send them and enjoy your day! I have to pay for all five days even if she's out, so I usually send her no matter what.

I'd send my LO gladly and have done so! He gets to play all day and I get a lovely and probably much needed free day.

@Eminthevalley: omgosh no! If you have a rare day off WITH your husband AND daycare is open which means you are paying them anyway you should enjoy the day together sans kids. Enjoy!

I am off and keeping LO home tomorrow, but I do send her every Friday when it is my errand day! DH is working too so we will have more solo mama time.

Daycare is open but we are both off tomorrow, and A is doing a short day at daycare. We'll drop her off around 9-10, pick her up around 4. DH has been out of town for work for 15 days, and I want to spend some time with him, enjoy lunch out, but we'll all spend time together in the morning before taking her.

Daycare is open, we both have the day off, and neither of us thought twice about sending her. She's a sweet pea, but we haven't had a day to ourselves in ages and ages!

We keep her home. I only work 4 days (but we pay for 5) and DH always tells me I should take a day for myself but I haven't brought myself to do it yet even though I know I should!

The nanny is coming tomorrow and I am just thrilled!!! Dh has to work... I spent all weekend with LO and tomorrow I'm going to get a massage and a pedicure and spend my Christmas Lulu gift card.

No guilt. I wish I had tomorrow off. DH has every Friday off and he has zero guilt about sending LO.

We are sending her tomorrow and going snowboarding for the first time in 3 years! I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, sometimes. It's pretty rare that day care is open on a day that I'm off though.
However, my husband works 4 on 4 off, and gladly sends LO to day care two days each week while he has me time. I think sometimes I need to take a page out of his book.

I'm dropping her off at her sitter's house today so I can clean house and go to the car place.

Your mom is trippin'I do have a friend who was a preschool teacher who used to complain about this. I just laughed, because she obv doesn't have kids.

Your mom is being unsympathetic and judgemental. I would totally take the day off. You have TWINS. Of course you deserve a break when you can get one.

i always said that if the kids daycare is open and we have off, I wouldn't send them....
reality: I send them!!!! I enjoy the day off(and usually with my husband) and they love daycare so it's a win win in my book! -

I send her and use the time to get some kid-free errands done + enjoy some me time by getting a manicure, haircut, etc!
To lesson the guilt-factor, I will make an effort to make something for supper than I know DD will love, and usually will pick her up a bit earlier than usual! -
I had Columbus Day off but daycare was open and I sent DD for most of the day. Although I spent the entire time at home crafty decorations for her first birthday, which made me feel less guilty.

My doctor encouraged me to use those kinds of days! Do not feel guilty, just enjoy!

Zero guilt. We have to pay for daycare no matter what, so why wouldn't I send her? Plus, this was her schedule remains consistent. I'm so, so excited to have an actual day off from everything!

Send them to daycare with no guilt. I did this over New Years week - our nanny share nanny was working, but I was off, so I sent LO 2 days and I took 1 day for myself and 1 day with DH.

Man, I wish. We only get 6 holidays at my company so this never happens.

Well I'm the minority. I kept him home. I feel like I don't see my kids enough as it is. I enjoy spending the extra time with him. If DH would have been off we would have made it a family day and gone to the aquarium or something.
