Enjoy it!
DH and I had a date day over Christmas break, we both had the day off and still sent LO and it was wonderful!

@blackbird: That's completely ridiculous for teachers to complain about that! If I'm paying for childcare I can use it however I want. Sheesh!
ETA: I have off every Friday and use it as my errand day while DS is in daycare. And over the summer when I have off for the whole summer we're going to enroll him in daycare part time 2 to 3 days a week so that he his schedule is still kind of consistent and it doesn't throw him off when he goes back full-time in the fall. This year it was a really hard transition with him having been home with me all summer. I love him and I love spending time with him, but I actually think he does better when his routine is in place and he has the stimulation of other kids throughout the day.

@Eminthevalley: Absolutely do NOT feel guilty! I have work today, but last year I had a couple of days when I was off and LO's daycare was open, and you can bet I put her in daycare those days!
Sadly, all I did on those days was clean and grocery shop without LO, but it was still nice to do all of that uninterrupted!!

If it's just one day I send him. It's rare that I ever get a day to myself and while I love him and love seeing him, I also love having ME time, too. I'm a better mother when we are together. I usually pick him up a little earlier, anyway.
If it's multiple days, I sometimes send him one or two days and then keep him home with something special planned for the other days.

I'm in the minority and wouldn't send her - I have a hard time being away from her unless it's truly necessary.

@mediagirl: Same here! My husband has most holidays off and he totally sent the kids in today and does on the holidays. He will usually pick them up slightly earlier. He uses the days for some "him" time and is doing some chores around the house.
I have to say I have some serious jealously of him right now. I would absolutely love a "free" day. I also think my kids do better keeping with their routine.

Heck no! I work from home on Fridays and still take J to daycare because I really need just one day a week to myself. You should never feel bad about finally getting time to be with your spouse. I know that my DH and I would kill for some alone time - we rarely get it.
