@Happygal: I didn't realize that either. I always feel like my NTNP months don't count so it doesn't seem like I've been trying that long.

    @FaithFertility: @LovelyPlum: thanks ladies!

I love this thread, makes it so much easier to remember everyone's info. The weekly threads are great but I often can't keep everyone's info straight.

@SweetiePie: It sounds like we're several weeks behind you. We also went straight from TTC naturally to IVF. We had our initial consult in Nov. and are just finishing up all of our testing. Hoping to actually start IVF sometime in Feb!

Interesting to see all the similarities and compare notes.

    Here's me:

    Started TTC: 12/11

Months/cycle in active TTC: 18 (after things normalized post-m/c)

    Ages: 33

    Any children- none

    Past pregnancies- 1 missed m/c @ 8weeks (detected at 11+)

When did you see an RE- haven't yet...but have done all the testing that's been recommended so far

History of IF in family: no, but multiple women in my family have had 1 m/c...then gone on to have multiple healthy pregnancies

    My diagnosis: unexplained

    DH diagnosis: hyperviscous semen?

Treatments so far: LOTS of TI, IUI x3, acupuncture, Qigong, assorted relaxation techniques

    Medications so far: Clomid

Other notes: waiting...very impatiently...to get Day #3 lab results back. Repeat FSH, estradiol levels (first ones were done about a year ago)...LH and AMH levels for the first time.

Methods you would try to get a child: Strongly considering IVF...unless my AMH levels are extremely low, adoption. Currently taking suggestions.

    Updated version with a diagnosis!!!!

    Started TTC: 11/2011
Months/cycle in active TTC: On cycle 20
Ages: I'm 30 and DH is 31. I was 28 and DH was 29 when we started TTC.
    Any children- None
Past pregnancies- None. Never seen a BFP.
History of IF in family: none
When did you see an RE: At 6 months, per suggestion by OB/Gyn. May-June 2013
My diagnosis: on April 2014, we saw a new RE and they have diagnosed me with PCOS and DOR! So happy to get away from that unexplained.
DH diagnosis: SA had low morphology but IUIs should have helped with that
Treatments so far: As of 1/2014, I have had 3 cancelled IUI cycles due to enlarge follicles or inability to provide sample for IUI. 2 IUIs were completed but unsuccessful. For the past 18 cycles, I have never ever seen a BFP. This month of will be our last IUI before going to IVF. I'm hopeful that 2014 will be the year I get pregnant. Since DH has trouble with providing a sample, our RE will be letting us freeze his sperm and using it as a backup if he can't provide a sample before the IUI.
Medications so far: Femera for all IUI cycles. 4/2014 started on metformin.
Other notes: I have done acupuncture for the past year for fertility and general wellness.
Methods you would try to get a child: IUI, IVF, Adoption. (I've gone back an forth between IVF and adoption. Right now, we have the funds to do IVF. I think we would have to have a difficult talk about $, if IVF doesn't work. ) Surrogacy- not quite yet.

    Started TTC:
Diagnosed PCOS around 2007 and told would struggle to conceive when time came. We stopped BCP Feb 2013 and hoped for the best for the rest of the year, sadly no luck the good ol way.

    Months/cycle in active TTC:
Battled to get cyst free in 14, finally on my 1st Clomid cycle.

    Ages:
I'm 30, my DH is 25. He was the romantic "toy boy" that swept me off my feet... and never left

    Any children: 0

    Past pregnancies: 0

When did you see an RE :
Feb 14 I saw my specialist gynae for the first time. We don't have REs in South Africa, well I'm sure in theory we do, it's just not that common here to go further than a specialist gynae when battling IF.

    History of IF in family:
My mom dropped a pearler the other day informing me that she drove to her gynae with my Dad's fresh donation in her handbag and he did an IUI for her! She was 30 and my Dad 40 when I was born, so a bit of help past the cervix seemed to do the trick. No other history of IF in the fam.

    My diagnosis: lean PCOS,

    DH diagnosis:
Semen analysis - 94% amorphous heads / 4% good guys.
    Recommended IUI.
DH had a motor bike accident at 19 which left him with obviously traumatized man bits, and the suspicion that permanent damage had been done. He said he was genuinely worried he would never get an erec again, let alone be fertile.

    Treatments & Meds so far:
Feb '14 | Provera to induce AF for HSG . HSG 100%
Mar '14 | Provera to induce cycle for Clomid - cycle bust, cysts.
Apr '14 | 1x 4cm cyst on R ovary. Back on BCP for 6 weeks to try reduce size.
June '14 | Big cyst ruptures, heals and we stop BCP to induce cycle to attempt 1st Clomid at last.

Currently (CD 11) on Clomid 50mg am & pm CD 5 - CD 13. Scan on CD 13 to check response to extended Clomid course. The scan on CD 9 showed both eggs and follicles halfway there. Seriously holding thumbs.

Other notes: Nothing at the moment

Methods you would try to get a child:
We would stop before using donor eggs/sperm. For us it's my egg-his sperm or bust

Oh, I think I was MIA when this started. (On one of my many "breaks" from HB.) So I will contribute. This is so handy when reading the IF threads!

    Started TTC: December 2011

Months/cycle in active TTC: Just about every month since then. May have missed a month here and there for MC recovery or vacation.

Ages: Me: 33 (34 next month) him: 35

    Any children- no

    Past pregnancies- 3

When did you see an RE- I think it was Jan/Feb 2013. After I felt it was taking us too long to conceive again after my first MC.

History of IF in family: none. My mom's first pregnancy ended in MC, but I think it was just one of those things.

My diagnosis: None yet, which is so frustrating!!! Previous MCs MAY have been due to polyps. There's no way of telling for sure.

DH diagnosis: Normal mostly. Morph. is 4%, but we were told that's normal.

    Treatments so far:
past: TCM/acupuncture, injectables (one round, got pg, lost it.) Got "de-polyped."
Now: seeing a naturopath, about to get iron "perfusion" whatever that means. Taking a fertility blend.

Medications so far: puregon (follistim) with ovitrell trigger. TCM herbs. Now taking Fertility Support that was recommended by naturopath.

Other notes: Long story, if anyone wants it, PM me!

Methods you would try to get a child: anything up to IVF with our own eggs/sperm. We will most likely adopt, regardless of bio. children.

History of IF in family: None in the immediate family. Although it did take my grandma 3 years to conceive her first child.
My diagnosis: Unexplained so far. I have an HSG test next week for further info.
DH diagnosis: His SA didn't show any issues.
Treatments so far: We're starting IUI this month if the HSG doesn't show any problems. I've also been doing acupuncture for almost a month.
Medications so far: I'm beginning Letrozole this cycle.
Methods you would try to get a child: Unsure, possibly IVF or adoption.

Update, doing injectables this cycle, for the 2nd time. 50iu of puregon. Only had 1 follicle, so next time, dosage will be upped. If/when I get a bfp, I'll be on daily blood-thinner injections. (This is often used in cases of unexplained RPL.)

I'm jumping back in to fertility treatments as we try for #2. I thought I'd share my diagnosis for those of you that don't remember me from the first time around.

    Started TTC: July 2011

Months/cycle in active TTC: 20 months for #1. Only 2 cycles for #2 before deciding to return to the RE.

    Ages: I'm 35 1/2. My husband is 38.

Any children: We have one little boy, 9 months old, conceived on our 3rd IUI, 1 cycle of injectibles.

    Past pregnancies: 1

When did you see an RE: We had our first RE appointment in September 2012. It took 3 months to get all of the testing and preliminary procedures taken care of before we started on Clomid.

History of IF in family: None.

My diagnosis: Good ol' Unexplained Infertility. The first time around, they noticed a slight blockage on my HSG. So they performed a saline sonogram to confirm what they saw. And then a hysteroscopy to remove the "fibroid" or blockage. I put it in quotations because the doctor said when she was in there, and they put the fluid in, the blockage just moved out of the way. So in my mind, my diagnosis is not unexplained. There was some s*%$ in the way that needed to be cleared out before the baby could snuggle in. Much better, and more human diagnosis, don't you think?

    DH diagnosis: All tests normal.

Treatments so far: For #1, Hysteroscopy, 3 IUIs

Medications so far: Clomid for the first 2 IUIs, and Bravelle injectibles for the 3rd IUI. Trigger shot on every IUI cycle. And prometrium.

Other notes: I sometimes struggle with feeling like I should just relax, and see if we can be one of those couples that can conceive their second child without medical assistance. But I don't feel like I have the luxury of that time with my age. I also feel like even though I know I have no control over when I get pregnant, I'd like to try and have our second child at a different time of year. I'm so thankful for our first child, but having a baby around the holidays was a tad overwhelming for me. I'd love to have a baby when I can get out of the house more in those early months and not have to factor in Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's all while trying to master breastfeeding. A girl can dream, right?

Methods you would try to get a child: At this moment, I am still only mentally prepared to go through the IUI process. If we cycle for 3 times again and are not successful this time, we'll take a break and discuss our next steps.

    Any children: none

Past pregnancies: I had a m/c in a past relationship in 2008, and one chemical with DH 12/2011.

When did you see an RE: May 2012

History of IF in family: unknown

    My diagnosis: PCOS/Hypothyroidism/Possible Endo

DH diagnosis: DH has great counts, but low volume which means we need to do ICSI for IVF.

Treatments so far: Metformin for PCOS, Syntrhoid for hypothyroidism, 3 failed IUIs with Clomid, 1 failed IVF cycle.

Medications so far: Metformin, Synthroid, Clomid for the IUIs, and then extended Lupron protocol for IVF #1, with Gonal-F and Menopur to stim. I will be following the same protocol for IVF #2 with different doses of meds.

Methods you would try to get a child: medication, IUI, IVF, Adoption.

** minor update** Added dexamethasone. Somehow I missed it during my last update.

    Started TTC: 11/2011
Months/cycle in active TTC: On cycle 26
Ages: I'm 30 and DH just turned 32. (I'll be 31 in Oct.) I was 28 and DH was 29 when we started TTC.
    Any children- None
Past pregnancies- None. Never seen a BFP.
History of IF in family: none
When did you see an RE: At 6 months, per suggestion by OB/Gyn because of DH's medical history. (May-June 2012)
My diagnosis: on April 2014, we switched REs and they have diagnosed me with PCOS and DOR! So happy to get away from that unexplained.
DH diagnosis: SA had low morphology but IUIs should have helped with that.
Treatments so far: As of 8/2014, I have had 3 cancelled IUI cycles due to enlarge follicles or inability to provide sample for IUI (at old RE). In order to prevent, cancelled cycles, DH now goes in a few days before the IUIs and has his goods frozen so we have them as back-up. Fresh is always better than frozen, but frozen is better than cancelled cycles. After those cancelled cycles, I went on to have 3 IUIs that were completed but unsuccessful. At the new clinic, I've had 2 unsuccessful IUIs (If you are counting, this would be IUI #5 for us.) I'm currently in the TWW for IUI #6. Hoping this is the one! If not, switching to IVF. (Wallet will be sad.)
Medications so far: Femera and trigger shot for all IUI cycles. 4/2014 started on metformin (for PCOS) and dexamethasone (for DOR).
Other notes: I have done acupuncture for the past year for fertility and general wellness.
Methods you would try to get a child: If this IUI #6 doesn't work, we'll be moving on to IVF. I don't want to think about what happens if IVF doesn't work.

She is referring us to a surgeon, but who knows how long the waiting process will be. I am a complete wreck of emotions - relief that I have an answer, but so scared about surgery (never gone under/hate IVs). DH has been incredible and said no matter what decision I make, we'll do it. I will likely go for the surgery but I just worry about so many things (it's really really bad).

July '14 | Lap - ovarian drilling, endo clean up, dnc
Aug '14 | started Provera for AF for CD1 so can begin IVF protocol for Sept cycle.

    Other notes:
OD reduced both testosterone and androstenedione production to normal levels - great news! LH and FSH still an issue.
