R has been a chronic cat mapper since 3m. Occasionally will take a longer nap but always naps well in the car. It doesn't seem to matter how long he is awake he naps 30-40 mins. Even if he goes down awake. My older son was like this but he had figured it out by now. So, if naps didn't consolidate by 6m when did they?

Closer to 8-9 months - before that they were 30-40 minutes. At 8-9 months they started getting to about an hour plus.

9 months is when we finally got her on a nap schedule. Twice a day.

3 more months of this I might off myself. Seriously it's awful he takes 4 naps most days. I always give him his first nap at home in the hopes it will at some point lengthen. Then we go out to do an activity and invariably the next nap is on the go and therefore short. 3rd nap at home again. He can barely stay up 2 hours.

Sometime between 7-8 months for us.

13 months. From 3 catnaps to 1.

Not till we cut down to 2 naps, and then it got better when we went to 1 nap.

At 8 months she is just finding her groove. She's still holding on to her early morning nap about 90 minutes after wake-up about 2-3 times a week but otherwise she's doing 2 naps, one about an hour the other about 2.5. She's still in flux a little though so I take advantage and occasionally force her into an odd nap pattern to fit our day better.

UPDATE - the naps got better overall at 7 months....but we couldn't get down to two naps until 8 months....and things didn't get more predictable until 9 months! He's solidly on 2 naps a day and most of the time they are both normal length naps....but sometimes one of them still sucks LOL.

@winniebee: thanks for the update! My 6 month old usually takes 3 30-45 min naps and dear god I wish they would lengthen and consolidate to two!

@winniebee: for the longest time I thought I was doomed and that all of his naps would be in the ergo. But once we nap trained at 8months (our third attempt at it) his naps got better!! The only bad thing is if we miss his window we end up with a 35 min nap, otherwise it's at least 1 hour!
