I saw one of my friends on FB post about this. I didn't realize that this could be a problem if you have more than 2 kids.
Do you ask if you can bring both LOs?
Do you find a babysitter for the other LO?
Do you bring both to the party and take the other one home with you?

I would not be the parent asking to bring all of my kids, I don't feel like that is fair to the host; if everyone brings an extra kid that is a LOT of extra kids! Assuming it's not a drop-off party, DH and the other kid would hang out, or maybe get to spend some time with grandma. I don't think I'd hire a babysitter though, I'd probably decline before paying a babysitter for a kid party.

One invitation means one kid, the one on the invitation. With one possible exception being young (under 7) twins. My sister has twins and had this debate last year and really just wanted someone to tell her that she could RSVP no. And typically those invitations are coming from less close friends like school mates. If I was close to the family and expected they knew siblings I may (maybe) ask about it. Parties are expensive and often they are per kid so I wouldn't expect anything. There are going to be so many things that siblings will have to learn to do separately. The little one won't always be able to do what the older ones and vice versa.

I don't know, I think it depends on the age of the kid and the location. I had a friend ask if she could bring her older son to my daughter's 2nd birthday, and I didn't think twice about it. The party was at home and I knew we'd have more than enough space and food. It might be a different story though if it was at a place where you pay per child or if my daughter was old enough to care.

I would just bring the child who was invited. I wouldn't hire a sitter though. So if the party was during DH's working hours (and not drop off) I would ask if I could bring my other DD, too.

Maybe it's because I'm in a different culture, but I generally assume both my kids are invited. Of course I ask, but I have never had any answer but, "of course!!" At my kids' age (2 and 4), parties are still family parties.

I'm kinda going through something similar right now. I'm throwing a third bday party for my daughter, and didn't realize that so many people would bring their other siblings. I totally understand why they would bring babies, but I was surprised that they wanted to bring older siblings and spouses as well.
It stressed me quite a bit because we're having double the amount of adults (since almost everyone is bringing their spouse), and at least 4 more (older) kids than I originally anticipated.

Leave one with dad, but I must admit I already dread the day that someone invites one of the twins to their party and not the other. That seems like it will be hard to explain to littles.

For right now, I assume both (well I guess all three, but the baby doesn't count yet). If I am not sure, I'll ask the party host, but 9 times out of 10 I assume both of mine are invited. At 4 and 2, they don't really have many separate friends anyways.
Next year, when DD is in school I would not assume that my boys are also invited. I would probably leave the boys home with DH, who hates going to parties anyways.

unless #2 is a non participating infant, I would bring only the invited child. I would never ask to bring another child and put the hostess in that awkward position,

We usually check if both are invited, since they're pretty close in age! If not, then we probably wouldn't go - unless our LO is really close to the birthday boy/girl. Then we'd split up and each take one kid (if we're both free).

I don't think this is so weird when you're talking about classroom parties if the kids aren't in the same class. We just went to a party yesterday, no siblings were there, just the kids in the class.

Assuming that we are talking about a peer party (like a friend from school, sports or other activity), I would only bring the invited child and think it's pretty standard that siblings are not invited.

We leave the other at home with the other parent. Its common since Drake started school and attends birthdays regularly. Juliet is too young to care luckily and also naps so its rarely a big deal at this stage

So far, only parties we've been invited to are my friends kids (so all my kids are invited) or preschool kids (both kids are in same class so so far, both invited to all parties and my second son is too young to participate). But if they don't say siblings welcome, I wouldn't bring the child who wasn't invited.

I think it would depend on if I am friends with the family, or if LO is just friends with the child. However, in most cases the invited child would probably go to the party with one of us, and the other parent would take care of the other LO.
