For those whose DHs plan to get a vasectomy when your family is complete, how long after your last child did you wait?
We're planning for DH to get one since we always planned to be two and through, but are holding off for now on the off chance that we change our minds! Not sure how long we'll plan to wait.

I'm going to get another Mirena after #2 and then we'll probably wait a few years JUUUUUST in case. Less than 5 years after #2 though.

We will probably do something similar to @prettylizy after #2. I'm pretty positive we don't want 3 LOs but I want to wait awhile before making a final decision.

If we end up having a #2 he'll probably get it when I'm pregnant or shortly thereafter. We're still in the air about a second but we're sure we don't want more than that.

I think we would wait a bit after we think we are done just in case. Maybe a year after our last LO.

I just asked DH if he'll get a vasectomy (bearing in mind we haven't got any LO's yet... I meant in the future obviously!) he's now looking at me like I'm crazy, so I don't think it's going to happen... at least not for a long time!

We don't have LOs yet, but probably a year or 2 after we think we are done. I hate being on BC so it will def be a good option for us I think!

Probably while I'm in the hospital with baby2 haha, we both thought we only wanted one bio baby and now weve changed our mind since he's here but he said no more after number two! Ha.

We have waited a full year and we're sure we're done. We're waiting for him to move onto the family insurance plan and then schedule it. We are just very content at two and feel like it'll be easier to travel and help pay for college with fewer kids.

we're doing it only when I get to a maternal age in which it would be both riskier for me to get pregnant (IMO) and tedious to take BC. So, I'd say 34 for me, personally. DH would probably say 38 is more reasonable of an age. I personally do not want to be pregnant after 34 though.. I feel like it would be physically too hard ( I had my first at 24, so I would compare).

Dh scheduled his 1 year after our first together lo was born, making us a family 6, then I got pregnant and they wouldn't do his procedure. It's scheduled for September of this year, we're due in August

@Mrs. Jacks: changed that darn word to "riskier" and by preference I guess I mean: I prefer not to worry about any added risks involved. That's how I should have best explained that thought process.

@illumina: my DH came up with the idea!
I think I want to keep our options open juuust in case because we had twins. Two kids, but I only got to experience one pregnancy! But, I'm fairly certain we're done. DH is pretty adamant that we are for sure done.

Like some PP, I plan on getting another Mirena after LO#2. After that expires if we feel like we are definitely done then it will be snip snip time.

We were 99% sure we were one and done going in. LO will be 10 months in a few days and I have had NO baby fever at all; neither has he. I got a mirena put back in, so now we are in no rush, but we've talked about deciding at either LO being 1 year or 2 years old.

We only ever wanted two kids which we have now, and the youngest is 7 months old. DH is 27 and got his vasectomy done a few weeks ago.
Even after DS I had 0 baby fever but we knew we wanted 2 close together so we went for it. Now DD is here and we have one of each I know we made the right decision for us. The thought of having to go through another pregnancy and labour and raising another child makes me sick to the stomach lol
