Yes, because I have an egg carton that says sell by FEB 7, and I ate one yesterday. I threw them out today though

I've used eggs at least a week if not more like 2 weeks past their 'sell by' date!

@Bao: put on a bowl of water. If it stays down on the bottom or even stands up while still touching the bottom, it's good. If it floats, it's not fresh anymore.

Yep! I probably use them for hard boiled eggs! The less fresh ones peel the easiest

Yes, the sell-by date is a guide for stores, not consumers. Stores must pull eggs (and other items, like milk) from their shelves after the sell-by date, but they are still safe for consumption for an additional 2-4 weeks, typically.

I would. Sell by date is different than Best By date. I think eggs are good for a few weeks past their Sell by date!
