Would you return it? Ignore it? Eat around it?
I always return it, but never expect for it to be remade or comped. Today, we were trying out a new restaurant and I found a red hair in my eggs benedict at brunch (I have brown hair). It made me totally queasy. I asked to have it taken back. The manager came over, apologized, removed two of the meals we ordered from our bill AND cut the bill in half 
I felt kind of bad because a $100+ brunch turned into $30 just because of one hair.

I would send it back if I even noticed...I'm not very perceptive so who knows what I miss. try not to feel bad. You weren't trying to make a scene or be a jerk, no one wants to eat another person's hair.

Ew that makes me want to gag just thinking about someone else's hair in my food! I would for sure send it back.

I would send it back, but wow that manager's response was above and beyond! I'd leave a great Yelp review noting that if it had happened to me - it's always great when your concern is treated as a legit concern and not something silly.

I'd send it back also! @coopsmama: I like your idea of the Yelp review. Maybe state there was an issue with your meal and the manager on duty went above and beyond to rectify the situation. Keeping it somewhat vague so that ppl don't take advantage of the comped meals. I hate when ppl do that just because.

Wow I'm surprised that everyone would send it back. Personally, I'd take it out and just keep eating.
I'm also not one to cause a scene or make a fuss though.

I'd send it back and ask for it to be replaced. If it was one food of several (like say, mashed potatoes), I'd scrape it onto a plate and send that portion back and ask it to be replaced. Anything beyond replacement is a nice gesture on the part of management.

I would send it back and expect part of the meal to be comped, or some kind of gesture from the management. That's just disgusting.

Send it back. And that dish has always been comped, plus a free dessert or 2 for the table.

I actually find hair in my food a lot (no, it' not mine, it's always IN the food ). I always send it back, and don't expect to be reimbursed if I'm mostly done with my meal. Hair is totally gross.

I also am not very good at noticing stuff... But if I do, I'd send it back. I know these things happen so I wouldn't be a jerk about it, but I would not be able to continue eating!

I'd send it back. Unless I ordered something else to replace the meal, I would expect my meal comped.
Once a friend of mine found a coloful object in her food like a piece of plastic shaped like a broken crayon. She was beyond concerned. At least one can surmise hair in food came from the chef's head.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Bleh! I once found a plastic bag looking thing in my enchilada. I asked for that one to be comped!!

I wouldn't eat it or send it back, I hate confrontation. So I'd just stop eating...
