If you are lazy TTC/NTNP, do you still:
Eat lunch meat cold
Drink wine (amount? When during cycle?)
Eat sushi
Drink coffee

When we were TTCC/NTNP I had no restrictions. I didn't drink a ton of wine to begin with, so sticking with my normal glass or two here or there felt fine, in my opinion.

I have ZERO restrictions while TTC/NTNP! Eat, drink, and be merry!
pomegranate / 3895 posts
I cut out caffeine, but that's all!
ETA: Scratch that, I drank one cup of coffee a morning as opposed to several throughout the day.

Yall are making me feel better. We are full on ttc and I totally ate a juicy burger for lunch instead of the $15 leafy green salad. Whoops. Sorry hypothetical baby!
nectarine / 2932 posts
I didn't restrict myself from anything. I am very much in the 'drink til it's pink' category.
clementine / 899 posts
No restrictions as NTNP nor when we'll TTC. I have cut back on caffeine (drinking more herbal teas) but not because of TTC.
nectarine / 2809 posts
@Mrs. Sketchbook: I really just eat/drink whatever I want (as healthy as possible). I figure, I'll restrict myself for 9 months, so why now?
pomelo / 5000 posts
No restrictions, although I have cut back to having 1 glass of wine a week at the most and am trying (not very well) to stick to just one cup of coffee a day. The coffee is the hardest one for me.....

For the most part, none.
The only thing I do is slightly restrict from alcohol at the very end of my TWW.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Nope! No restrictions. I didn't when I was pregnant either, but I ate it in moderation.
persimmon / 1328 posts
I don't restrict anything, especially if I am being more lazy about TTC. Otherwise, I might be forcing myself to go without some of those things for a really long time.
persimmon / 1355 posts
Nothing. I followed the drink till it's pink philosophy (but I wasn't out getting wasted - just a glass of wine with dinner or whatever).
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Nothing. I had beers the night before I got my BFP cause I was sure I was imagining my symptoms.
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
I still do those you mentioned (not wine as I'm nursing but would otherwise) but I limit (and would ideally cut out) wheat, dairy and sugar.
GOLD / cherry / 153 posts
I won't drink more than a glass of red wine after a positive OPK. I'm also trying to moderate caffeine intake, but that's just for better quality sleep.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
I don't restrict anything.
I know people feel differently about different things, but you and your baby don't share a bloodstream until after 6 weeks, so I find restricting during the TWW to be rather silly - especially after I had so many failed cycles. It just seemed ridiculous for me to restrict month after month.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
I didn't restrict at all while TTCing. In fact, I didn't even restrict myself completely while pregnant.

@septca: Amen to that. Im still learning but Ive *read* and take Dr. Google for what its worth that certain foods (the bad things most of us love) can inhibit implantation. That would be my only worry with the whole diet thing. That being said, me and hypothetical baby sure did enjoy my burger today LOL
pomelo / 5000 posts
@septca: it's not so much about what I ingest possibly affecting the baby, but more based on the recommendation of my RE. They say that caffeine causes a decrease in fertility (related to the amount), and that a study showed drinking alcohol can lower fertility as well.
With that said, I'm a believer in the a mind-body connection, which is why I enjoyed a glass of wine when I was out with friends last night! It's all about a balance.

i stopped caffeine cold turkey (i was miserable), and avoided alcohol. i pretty much ate everything else though until i got my BFP.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
I was definitely in the "drink til its pink" camp. Right before I got my bfp (at CD28), my mom was visiting and she drinks more than I do normally. Not like, bingeing amounts of booze: she just drinks wine with meals, and I was never drunk, but we were drinking more than 1 glass with dinner, and every night instead of like once or twice a week like I normally. So I was definitely pregnant and drinking wine with her during her visit, which lasted from about 8-13dpo (though I wasn't tracking temps or opks or anything, so that's a guess for when we conceived). I really didn't think we had a shot that cycle (my cycles were irregular so I wasn't sure when I ovulated), otherwise I might not have had so much wine with her, but it all worked out regardless!
And I definitely still had caffeine! pre-bfp, I had at least 2 cups/day: an espresso in the am, and black tea in the early afternoon. And pregnant now, following my doctor's recommendations, I still drink 1 cup/day (usually in the afternoon when I need a pick-me-up, and usually just tea).
I'm vegetarian so no sushi or deli meat anyway...

No restrictions here either. I'm glad I set out with that mindset too, since it's taking us way longer than expected. No way I'd be able to face all these unsuccessful cycles without my wine!
pomelo / 5720 posts
No restrictions but I do try to cut back on caffeine so that it won't be a huge deal when I do get pregnant.
clementine / 849 posts
I didn't have any restrictions - but I DID try to make myself a little healthier. I cut down on pop and junk food though.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3688 posts
@dc yoga bee: and @Happygal: I agree with you both on caffeine. I only drink 1-2 small cups of coffee a day as it is (was WAY more than that with a newborn, however), so I don't count that as "restricting."
I feel like the information out there on alcohol is really mixed. The first time TTC I did limit alcohol a bit for fertility reasons (not because I was worried about the impact on the pregnancy), BUT the cycle I actually got KU I drank way more than normal because we were on vacation.
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
no restrictions. I do try to eat healthier (doing green smoothies now!) and not have a crazy amount of caffeine, but those are really just daily well being.
pomegranate / 3658 posts
@LindsayInNY: Yeah I sometimes keep a closer eye on my alcohol consumption at the very end of TWW, but that doesn't mean total abstinence, just avoiding major consumption. Other than that I eat/drink as normal while TTC.
kiwi / 659 posts
I was definitely 'drink til it's pink'! I cut back on caffeine, and had about 1-2 cups of black tea a day while ttc. No other restrictions. I haven't been crazy with the restrictions while pg, either.. No alcohol, but I do a cup of coffee or tea per day, and eat deli meat when I feel like it (probably not even once a week). I eat feta and blue cheese in salads. With some of these restrictions, I think it's definitely a judgement call...
bananas / 9229 posts
@PawPrints: Agreed. DH is kinda particular about it despite all the explanations I've given him. So I refrain mostly to appease him. I may have a drink if we're out somewhere but will avoid drinking casually at home.
nectarine / 2936 posts
I cut back on caffeine. The first few months I didn't drink during the tww and then I gave up on that. I ate lunch meat and sushi. I didn't take advil during the tww.
GOLD / pomegranate / 3938 posts
I haven't restricted anything with regard to foods or drinks. I have held back on medicine during the TWWs and I also haven't gotten any kinds of shots since I started TTC.
