It would definitely be the French or Italian countryside for me. Close enough to major cities, but remote enough to feel like the country. We've talked about it and hope it can be a reality in the next couple of years, if only for a summer.

Berlin! I would love for DS to pick up some German. DH and I love it so much, we've discussed living there for a semester at some point.
But really, if I could live in any major city in a non English speaking country for a year I'd be jumping for joy.

Florence! I lived in Siena (smaller Tuscan town nearby Florence) for 5 months and I loved it but I wish I would have been by the hub of travel instead of having to take another 1-1.5 hr train or bus to get back home. I know it well enough but not too well and we could live either right in or just outside the city and it would be magical! A year would be perfect.

Ok I'm going to be the odd one out here and not go with Europe. I would love to live somewhere around Big Sur, California. It is just absolutely gorgeous with the amazing ocean views and all the trees and it would just be so secluded.

Picking a place in another country would be too hard to decide so I am going to stick with the US and say NYC. I have always dreamed about living there for a year.

If it's just a year, I would pick something completely unfamiliar like Tokyo, Nairobi or Dubai. My husband half seriously talks about applying to jobs in places like this and I would totally be on board for a 1-2 year commitment.

Germany because DH is German or China because I'm Chinese. It'll be so great for the kids. Sadly, unless one of us finds some weird short term job that is willing to pay for lodging etc it just ain't gonna happen!

Internationally, I'd love to live in Japan. Within the US...I don't know. Somewhere in the south. Tallahassee is so nice, we love it there.

Realistically, I'd actually say HK b/c that's where I was born and where I grew up and I'd love for m DH and kid(s) to experience it for a year!
Dream/vacation spot would be SoCal or Hawaii!
