Let's say you suddenly get tomorrow off. An early three day weekend. And you can travel anywhere you want to do anything you want, no limits in cost, with or without your LO/SO - where would you go? Why? What would you do when you got there?

Italy! My friend lives there/ is from there and he is a doctor now and married and I would love to go back and visit
Second choice is Bali or Fiji so I can float around and take lo swimming.
Third is Thailand for every reason!
Eta: okay forth is New Zealand to camp all over with a camper van. I would also love to just drive all over the states with no real plan

@Bao: oh man...YES. I would have to go alone...DH has no interest.
Either that, or to Ireland.

I'd love to go to San Francisco though I don't think a 3 day weekend would really be enoug time. But maye I could treat DH to a giants game!

Hmmm if it's only for a long weekend, probably San Fran. They have his amazing sushi restaurant that I've been dreaming about for 3 years.

Can we teleport? If so, I'd like to go back to the Maldives and relax in an overwater bungalow!
If it involves real travel time, then maybe LA for the weekend!

San Diego!! Great for kids, inexpensive and beautiful!!! It's one of my favourite places.

With LO and DH, and we'd be off to Copenhagen. Nice time of year for the north.

If we skip to next weekend, I'd say Gtmo, or NJ so I could spend the 4'th of July in the US (or on a US base) and see fireworks, a parade, go to a cookout, and all that good stuff with family and/or friends!

If it's just a 3 day weekend, I would go to Dubai (relatively short flight for me).

for a 3-day weekend, probably houston. only a 4 hour drive (hopefully if traffic is nice) and I can eat all the yummy food and still enjoy myself. I feel like if I travel away, I'll be rushed.

A 3 day weekend... hmm, London or Paris, just a 5-6 hour flight.

@Greentea: we did this! (Your fourth option) we flew to the South Island in NZ, nothing booked, a vague idea of where we wanted to go - and got this sweet little camper van and toured the whole island, it was awesome.
I would either go back to NZ (assuming in this hypothetical situation that the flight it also magically fast) or go back to Italy. Or back to the Caribbean.

I'd go on a 3-night Bahamas cruise with DH if we could magically get grandparents to watch DD for the weekend in this dream scenario

For just a 3-day weekend? I'd go up to the inn where DH and I got married, but I'd bring my sisters. I love my DH but he's bad at relaxing. I'd do a girls weekend full of laying by the pool, reading, eating, wine, movies, shopping...mayyyybe a little hiking. Oh man. Sounds amazing.

Just a 3 dayer? I'd take DH and leave the kids and go to Banff and spend the weekend there eating and shopping.

Ahh, what I wouldn't do to go back to Mexico right now! I'm sure DD would like it - but if we could palm DD off on the inlaws for a week or so and just take off - WOW! Sunshine, sea and lots of drinks....!!

@beaker: that's really sweet. I'm praying for her LO.
I'd go to Woodloch Pines in PA for a 3 day weekend. It's a great family resort but expensive.

If it's just for a weekend - I may not travel outside the US... although maybe something like a caribbean island - that's not a long flight!
Otherwise I'd say LA/San Diego area. Visit DW, legoland, Mrs. Train ;), the beach, etc...

Hmm... for 3 days, I'd go to FL to visit my friends and hit the beach with LO.

@beaker: I've been thinking about her and her sweet boy a lot.
I'd go to Spain, hire a villa with a sea view in the resort where we had our wedding reception, chill out for a day then go to DH's family's place for some home cooked paella and some yummy jamon. Sigh, now I REALLY want to go to Spain!

@beaker: so sweet.
Hawaii. Close enough but tropical. DH, LO, and I would spend all day in the water!

I'd go to visit my BFF with the kids in the Bay Area! Haven't seen her in a long time and i would love to ..
