We announced it when we finally decided on one. I didn't care about comments because we were firm that's the name we wanted.

our first we told
when we have another everything, name(s) and sex will be a secret even with family

We told people and hearing all the negative comments made us certain we didn't care because we love her name (:

We are pretty much decided on a name but are keeping it a secret. My mom knows though.

I told my two closest friends our son's name and kept it a secret from everyone else.
pomelo / 5132 posts
Because we aren't finding out sex, we feel comfortable sharing both names.

we were team green. no one knew our names except us which was good because once he arrived, we decided on a name that wasn't on our list!!

We kept it a secret to avoid unnecessary comments ... It worked
I did spill the beans to my best friend and the midwife ahead if time though, oops!

We announced it. I love the name and couldn't wait to tell everybody. It was also how we announced the gender. Her hebrew name is a secret though. We also only for one negative comment and it wasn't that bad. "Nobody is going to know how to pronounce that" (says the guy who figured out out first try. Lol)

We've shared with a few people....which ended up in just about everyone knowing. However, we've been calling her by name since about 25 weeks or so, so I knew it wouldn't be a secret for too long.

We kept our name choice secret to avoid any comments...... I obviously didn't learn though b/c I told my mom this time the girl name we liked & she immediately told me she didn't like it & took it upon herself to start helping me think of names. boo

We decided on a name a couple weeks before DD was born. We kept it a secret.
With DS we were undecided so we didn't share his name until after he was born.

We haven't decided yet but have a very short list, we're not going to share until the baby is born

We came up with names literally the week we found out I was pregnant and told our families and close friends both of them. Once we found out the sex we told the world (aka facebook). My sisters even sent Christmas presents to boy baby and girl baby (we told everyone on Christmas day).

We've only short listed about 2 boys names and 5 girls... but we haven't told them to anyone since we just want to work it out ourselves without too much outside influence.

We had a boy and a girl name ready before we got our bfp. We announced his name as soon as we found out the gender. We actually haven't gotten any negative comments, that I know of anyway.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: With #1 we told everyone his name because it wasn't changing and we weren't budging.
With #2 we are stuck between 2 names, and are keeping those names a secret as we don't want to be swayed. I only shared those 2 choices with a very select few wonderful ladies

@Rainbow Sprinkles: we had a short list of names and picked the final name the day of the gender ultrasound. It was mostly secret. DH told his best friend. I told my hairdresser, my dental hygienist, random grocery store clerks and two or three co workers. I was a terrible secret keeper! But then DH totally blew it by saying the name out loud in front of his parents and three other people at our baby shower.
we did still keep it a secret/surprise from my family from that point on.

We didn't tell anyone except our doula at our last appointment. Since she was helping us usher LO into the world it didn't seem right to keep it from her. It was so weird to finally say it.

We announced it officially once we knew it was a boy. We had a solid boy name and a solid girl name already picked. We will probably do the same with all future kids.

We shared it! We did a game to reveal it at our shower and I was so 100% confident in our name that if anyone were to say anything (which they did... and continued to after he was born) I didn't care and didn't let it get to me!
I liked sharing it - I thought it was fun!
I actually wish my SIL or sister would share their names so that I could get something personalized for them

We have a name and have told three people, and so far two of those people have said HORRIBLE things about the name. It hasn't changed our choice, but it makes me mad people are so rude.
pomegranate / 3577 posts
Secret! Partly because it took forever to choose a name. My sister is the only one to know the official list of possibles. (She liked our number one choice the best!)
watermelon / 14206 posts
We shared with whomever asked. We didn't put up a FB announcement that we had a named picked, but it wasn't a secret, either.

we announced late into my pregnancy to friends/family. we got mostly positive reactions but there were negatives to but I didn't care, I love his name.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
we're still ttc and I've already told my mom and a couple friends the names we like, haha. they all had positive reactions though--especially my mom, who loved our choices!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
We told some family members or people as they asked, but no huge announcement.
grapefruit / 4681 posts
We had names picked out as soon as we started dating and they are the names we used for DS and the name we are using for this baby, so people that know us well have always known the names of our future children. Anyone else we tell as they ask.
cantaloupe / 6669 posts
We have a name picked and will be keeping it a secret from everyone until she is born. Everyone knows she's a girl already so I like that element of surprise!
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
We didn't tell a soul! Not even hellobee! And we will do the same next time too.
coconut / 8854 posts
We aren't TTC yet, but we plan on not finding out the gender, and we also plan on keeping any name choices secret!
