@Revel: we only did checks, not sitting in the room with her. we did this with night wakings only as she could fall asleep on her own. i would assume you would want to do the same thing. what did you end up doing?

following - we're doing parent attended CIO for naps at the moment and starting it for nights on Friday. How did yours go/is it going?

We didn't do CIO for wake ups. It never really worked for us. I left her be to see if she'd settle and then went in. When we wanted to reduce night feeding my husband went in. We just had to wait it out, and they slowly reduced over time, especially after we moved her out of our room.
Once she could fall asleep on her own, they reduced significantly, and she put herself back down quickly unless (in my opinion) she was hungry.
I do think the sleep lady shuffle can be used for middle of the night waking. I would think it would be kind of hard on the baby though!
