...Where in your home does your LO play most of the time? In the family/living room or their room? We have a few rooms I've tried as the playroom and honestly can't bring myself to use anything other than our family room because I'm lazy and don't want to walk anywhere.

We play a lot in her room, the family room or the office. The family room is a semi-playroom since her kitchen is down there.

We live in a condo, so our only living room is also LOs playroom. I prefer her playing out here so I can do other stuff but still see her.

The kids mostly play in the living room. It's great because one of us is usually right there, and it's easy to keep an eye on them.
The downside is that we have to clean the living room regularly. It may be a blessing in disguise though, because the kids have had to get a lot better about picking up after themselves!

Family room, we spend most of the day there and all of LO's toys are there.

My siblings and I just played in our own rooms or the living room and cleaned it up after.

She's only 5 months so this is likely to change. Originally spent most of our time playing in her room. Now that she's rolling we needed more space so I put a blanket on the floor in my bedroom for her to roll around on with toys.

We have an awkward area between our L shaped couch and the window, about 6' square. I bought some wood-grain foam squares and put a quilt down for him to scoot around on. We're going to put a playpen around it soon, since he's trying to crawl!

@mrbee: Like you said, that's both a positive and negative...the mess can't be hidden but I have the energy to clean only one room so I might as well take care of his stuff while I'm at it. Plus it motivates me not to put out too many things for him.

Theoretically I'd like her room to be where she plays and where her toys are kept. In reality I'm sure it'll wind up being mostly in the living room.

We live in a 2bdrm condo, and my son is 1. I am not interested in hanging out in his room all the time, and he is too young to be unsupervised. We also have an L-shaped open plan living rooms. So, we gated off the L and that is the play area.

Just in the living room. We pick up multiple times a day because there's just not much room to spread out but I actually don't mind it.

We just use the living room right now (LO is 2)... He wants to be where we are now anyway. We try to keep the toys contained, but I'm just accepting that my life is full of toys for a while!! We have a finished basement when LO is bigger and can have his own space.

Probably 75/25 living room and his room. We're in an apartment though, 850 square feet-ish.

Family room, which is in the back of the house luckily. We have a "formal" living room in the front, so luckily the mess is usually out of the way.

The living room. She's so little that someone has to be with her. I have no desire to be banished to a playroom, so I haven't ever made one. Once she's older, I imagine a lot of her toys would be in her room or the basement (if we ever finish it).

The playroom is in the finished basement but my LOs are so young that we don't use it yet. For now we play in the living room or one of the kids rooms.

Living room. Her nursery is big and we also have empty space in basement but I know living room is our hub so we will make room for her to play in

The living room. Shes just started playing independently in her own room occasionally (17.5 months) but when I'm trying to do chores/cook our meals, etc it just makes more sense to be in the living room together. She likes to "help" me do things anyway.

Our whole house is a playroom. It used to be just the living room, but since she could walk she's made every room hers. She takes toys all around the house and makes toys of random things she finds.
I figure it's only a few years and I'll just enjoy it. She's finally learning to return things to her room so that helps with the mess...a little -
Her toys are kind of spread over her room, our living room, and the den/my "office".

LO just turned 2 and she mainly plays in the living room. She doesn't have many toys in her room at this point, just books and stuffed animals.

Before we moved house recently we didn't have a playroom and we kept all of her toys and played in the living room.

When we moved into our current house, we decided that toys would be in the family room, which is really the playroom, we spend the majority of our indoor time there as it has the bulk of the big toys.
Slowly, toys have migrated to the bedroom. I let my son keep his magnatiles and some foam blocks up there, he likes to play in there on occasion. We also have some art supplies in constant use in the kitchen.

The living room and his room. When he was younger, he used to play in the office when my husband watched him, but he rarely plays there now.

Los bedroom is his playroom. We keep most of the toys put away in the closet and get out a few at a time. We have a shelf of books and a few harder activities that we play together in the living room, and cars and trucks usually migrate around the house throughout the day. We try to put them away before bedtime.

DD is 12 weeks today, we play mostly in her nursery, but I can see us transitioning more to the LR, we need to get a rug we have tile or some play squares!

LO mostly plays in the living room since her room is upstairs and she doesn't like to be away from me. I cried over the mess tonight.

She plays in the family room. it's big enough that we can corral her toys to one side of the room and enjoy our space on the other side.

We store most of her toys in her room (and some in the basement which never get played with because it's pretty cold down there in the winter) but they end up in the living room. She drags them out, covers the floor and then we put them back at night/when she's done. It works, not ideal, but she likes to see us when she plays, she's not really an independent player or likes us to play with her.

We don't have a big house or a lot of storage space so when she gets big enough I think playing in her room 90% of the time will work the best. But depending on the activity the living room will also be an option.

We are fifty fifty between her room and our living room. I think when she is older I will set up a small playroom for her in a seldom used room of our house but it will be a long time before I would expect her to play several rooms away from me so it's more for when she is big enough for independent play.
