If you found out (by accident) that a coworker your same age with your same title and years of experience lived in a house 2x the cost of yours would you be upset at all? Add in the fact that his wife has always stayed home with the kids and they only drive luxury cars and taxes are 3x higher than ours. DH and I both work and even with daycare for one (his kids go to private school) there is no WAY our expenses are the same or higher.

I haven't gotten a raise or bonus in the last 2 years because I was told I am paid at the "top" of the range for my title. I always questioned this but now I am finding it even more hard to believe. I'm not about to get him involved in this but I'm wondering if I should start asking more questions at comp season (or now) about pay bands as the info is kept private? I seriously doubt I will get any more info than I'm currently given but how else can I find out what is "fair" for my position? My job is very niche and specialized so websites like salary.com and glassdoor are no help.

I know they could be getting help from family (which is none of my business) but my parents are comfortably high up in the 1% and help us out too - and we still would not be able to live comfortably with the same expenses as this coworker.

What would you all do? Ask questions? Drop it? Any other suggestions??
