I'm thinking that I'll be using the snap and go stroller for at least 6 months.
I want to get the Baby Jogger City select (with second seat), but for the price, I'm hoping I can delay that purchase for as long as possible.

we used ours for about 6 months. we probably could have switched a little sooner, but we were used to our snap n go.

7 months until we switched to a umbrella stroller. We never used the full sized Chicco.

About 6-7 months. We also have an attachment to our stroller for the infant car seat too. I found the snap and go really useful for travel and airports with an infant. This time around, I'm hoping to baby wear LO #2 in the airport.

@cascademom: Yeah, I'm wondering if I should skip the snap and go and get the city select with car seat adaptors.
pomegranate / 3895 posts
Candidly, I would skip the snap and go. We NEVER used it (ended up returning it because it was still in box) - we had the car seat adaptor on our B-agile and I kept it in the car. It "drove" better and the weight difference really wasn't that much.
ETA: Just saw your last comment. Obviously I agree

We also used ours for a good 6 months then put her in our Uppa Baby GLuxe
pomegranate / 3032 posts
We used it as long as i used the infant bucket seat... so about 10 months?.... It was just so easy when i needed to run an errand by myself not to have to take her out of the seat

We used our double snap n go until 10 months when we switched to convertible car seats. We still used our big double before that for walks, trips to the park or zoo, etc. but the convenience of the snap n go couldn't be beat when I was by myself with both kids. I wish there was a way I could get our double snap n go to you. We're done with it now and it's in perfect condition! But the cost to mail it would probably be more than it costs new!

We used it every day for the first 6 months to walk DS to daycare. It was so light and easy to fold that it made it a good choice for us. I guess it depends on how often you would use a stroller and what terrain you'll be on. The snap n go and the car seat attachments are around the same cost so I felt it was a wash there.
coconut / 8861 posts
@bluestriped bee: Even this time around, I'm not sure what direction we're going to go with. The snap and go was a hand me down sort of thing, so having one helps, but necessary, not sure. We'll have two littles as well. Right now, LO rides his trike more than in his stroller these days. If LO is in his trike, then LO #2 could be worn or put in the stroller or snap and go. It's a tough call.

If you can hold out until Black Friday, there are usually some great deals on the city select. I got mine with the second seat for $400.
FWIW, I love the city select so far. I've used it as a double a dozen times so far. It can be harder to turn on an incline, but that doesn't bother me. (Plus I'm going to get some great arms out of it!)
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
The city select is a front/back double right?
I have the B-Ready like that and I love it for the times we need it. But I can't imagine having two similar in age in the front/back setting like that. Just from my experience with it, if I were having twins I would 100% do a side by side.

What's a snap and go? I know nothing about strollers!
grapefruit / 4321 posts
Since the city select frame can essentially be used as a snap and go with the car seat adapters I would just skip the added expense of getting a snap and go. That's what we did with our Vista.
grapefruit / 4321 posts
@Mrs. Pickle: It's just a very basic frame that car seats can "snap" into. It doesn't have its own seat.

@twodoghouse: Aww, thank you! So nice of you to offer but I'm checking out consignment sales in May and seeing if I can snag one at a good price.
@cascademom: Yeah, I'm hoping to baby wear the twins.
@ninja: Oh, good idea to wait for black friday deals! The twins are scheduled to make an appearance in Sept/Oct, so I can definitely wait for black friday.
@T.H.O.U.: Yup, it's a front to back double stroller. I thought with a side by side that it would be hard to get through certain doors.
@Mrs. Pickle: It's a universal stroller that could be used with any type of car seat. I'm told that you simply snap your seat in and go. It's pretty cheap, too. It's $68 new (for the double) on Amazon right now.

We didn't use a snap n go, but we had to ditch the infant seat at 4m because he hated it. I'd try to get the snap n go as cheap as possible, maybe at a consignment sale, because you may end up not being able to use it very long, or not liking it. I feel like with 2 kids you want a stroller that handles really well. I get the impression that snap n goes don't have a great ride, but that might not be true.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@bluestriped bee: I mean tons of people use side by sides every day. I'm sure there are some limitations but we really haven't used ours as a double that much because even with our age gap, they kids want to be together.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@ShootingStar: Yeah, my sister told me that my SIL hated the snap and go. She loves her City Select with second seat, though she said it's heavy stroller and take a lot of trunk space. I think I need to visit Baby-R-US to try out some strollers. I'm hoping to get a used snap n go soon.
@T.H.O.U.: Yeah, I need to go try out some strollers. Maybe I will like the side by side better.

We just got the chicco keyfit and stroller caddy for LO#2. (We needed a new infant seat). We opted out of buying a double full-sized stroller because 1.) not sure if DS#1 will be into strollers 2.) we're in the burbs and rarely use strollers in general.
We'll probably use the stroller caddy for six ish months then move LO#2 into the gluxe! We'll probably still use the infant carseat for longer than that though.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@bluestriped bee: FWIW, I bought the snap-n-go first and returned it for the chicco keyfit caddy because it did not have the SNAP-IN feature! It was a sit-in and belt it tightly with the keyfit. Not sure how it works with other infant carseats!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@mrsjyw: Oh, good to know! I have the Chicco Keyfit car seat in my registry.

I didn't get a snap & go either... I have the Britax system and I like that I already have a stroller esp if we want to take her for a stroll... She's gonna be 5 mo and I think we can start putting her in the stroller.

We loved the snap n go be clause of the weight. When you have two infant seats with two babies, it makes the value of the lighter snap n go awesome! I would look for a used one though. I bought one from someone in my local mothers of multiples group for $10 and we used it for about 6 months
pineapple / 12053 posts
@bluestriped bee: I would want to get the most of the city select and just get the car seat adapters for it. I feel like that's the best use for your $!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@bluestripedbee: Chicco doesn't make a double keyfit caddy so you can do the double snap n go or the joovy twin roo. We have the latter and love it - it isn't as long as the snap n go. We used our keyfit caddy with ds1 for about 10 months. I would definitely recommend the frame stroller instead of a full stroller based on the weight of it alone and at around $100 it's a steal. When our twins grow out of it we'll likely just get a double umbrella stroller.

I just stopped using it with my DD at 8 months since we switched her to a convertible car seat. Probably could have used it another couple of months even. DS we stopped using it at 6 months.
I really love the convenience of a snap and go. I mean you can get by if you have the adapters for your other stroller. But snap and gos are so light weight. I really hate lifting a heavy stroller in and out of a car. Maybe I'm just a wimp tho. lol
nectarine / 2180 posts
@mrskc: Ditto! DD is 7.5 mos and we are still using the snap n go. We used it for 8 months with dd1.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@birdofafeather: Good point!
@marionberry: Thanks. I saw that. Why did you choose the Joovy over the Baby Trend stroller?
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@Mrs. Blue: Oh, nice. Yeah, I'm going to a JBF consignment sale tomorrow and I have a Mothers of multiples sale next week. Hoping I can find something there. Thanks!

We bought the snap n go (via craigslist) just to travel with because we didn't want to mess up our UB Cruz. But other than using it on travel we never used it. We would just use the car seat adapter with the UB Cruz.
I would recommend buying one secondhand if you can!
ETA: I want to get the City Select with second seat for when we have our second one in July!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@bluestriped bee: if I remember correctly, the baby trend puts the car seats long ways whereas the seats are side by side in the joovy roo. This makes the length of the stroller shorter which I appreciated. I think it's pretty much a coin toss in which is better but I must say I love mine so far. It also has two drink holders and two bottle holders which is awesome and steers really easily.
