Cheapie for the reason @mrsmate mentioned! Depending on where you're going in Europe, you will be carrying that stroller up and down an awful lot of staircases so the lighter, the better. We only ever travel with our cheapie...but it's a nicer umbrella stroller so it suits our needs just fine and was easy peasy to carry up and down the Tube steps in London.

I would bring my G-Luxe on those trips, but I don't really think of it as a *nice* umbrella. I actually hate how they have their logo aaaall over the sides, but there are other things I like about the stroller, so I got it. Recline is important to me as is it's ability to stand on it's own and hold a moderate amt of things, while still being pretty light.

I have brought a "cheap" $25 BRU stroller to Hawaii before and it was fine, but it was for my then 3 yo where recline and storage for baby things wasn't a big deal.

But for big cities with an infant? A g-luxe would be a good compromise. I have travelled with big strollers before (a Bugaboo and a MB double), and it was a pain everytime, even if I checked it in right away before security. But the first time, I didn't know any better... And the second time, I was moving and didn't want to pay shipping for the double.

We found a compromise, a light stroller but sturdier than an umbrella. I took it across country traveling alone with our little guy and had a great experience with it. After a ton of research we got the Kolcraft Countours for $65. It can also be adapted to hold an infant seat.

@shopaholic: Your LO might not be old enough to sit in a regular cheapie umbrella stroller, so you probably need to get the gluxe.. Haha. That would be my rationale.

We just traveled to Chicago and we have a big Asia trip coming up so I was worried on what to do. We ended up buying the Chicco c6 for around $70. Even though its an umbrella stroller, it still has all the stuff we needed (reclined slightly, big sunshade, tall handles). It's also super light and easy to carry. It also came with a bag so it was convenient to gate check. My LO had just turned 7 months and she fell asleep well during the whole trip.

I think the g luxe sounds perfect for when you travel...we have one and have used it on the subway and it's way easier than the vista. It also pushes really well and seems very sturdy, not flimsy at all.

It looks like they might not make it anymore, which is a shame. We love it. It cost us $150, which is a lot for a travel stroller, but it fits in the overhead bin so you can carry it on board. It is also super easy to steer with one hand which is very handy when you are travelling with a LO. We did a ton of research on all the options, and rather than buy a cheapo umbrella stroller that we might struggle with pushing, or take our nicer stroller and risk damage by the baggage handlers (we've heard many horror stories), we splurged and are always so happy that we did. It is not light but it is easy to open and to fold up, we can do both one handed holding LO with the other hand. There is plenty of storage space underneath. We started putting him in it when he was about 8 mos but he was a petite guy (15th percentile weight), still does great at 17 mos now. The back does not recline but he doesn't sleep in the stroller so that has never even occurred to me We have ended up also using it for trips closer to home when we are driving since it takes up less space and is easier to fold than our regular stroller.

If you come across one somewhere, I highly highly recommend them.
