haha..my situation was not the norm, but..
I called when my water broke, and got the one and only OB (on call) that I had not yet met. So she had no idea of my family history of quick labors. I called at 5:30, and she told me to wait til 10 to come in since I was a FTM.
good thing I didn't listen to her..baby was born at 9:27!

They told me to come in if my water broke or if contractions were 5 min apart.
I waited until contractions were 3-4 min apart since I was only a 5 minute drive from the hospital. I got there and I was at 7 cm and delivered my son 3 hours later.

We left for the hospital when my contractions were 3 minutes apart, lasting a minute, for two hours. The hospital is about 30 minutes away. I wanted to show up close to transition and I did.
