My a1c was 5.9, so they had me do the glucose tolerance test around 14 weeks. I failed the one hour test by a few points but passed the three hour test with flying colors. I just repeated the one hour test at 26 weeks and I'm waiting to find out the results. Good luck! That glucose drink is SO gross.

Yes. I ended up having early onset gestational diabetes, so I spend most of my pregnancy following the diet. It was a pain, but I endured it. Good luck!

@autumnlove: I didn't fast for my one-hour test last time and my result was 149 I think. They wanted it below 140, so I took the three-hour and failed it too

@autumnlove: Sorry you failed but glad you know without taking the 3 hour.

@Dandelion: Not that I know anything but maybe if you have a good diet and excerise - you can still pass the A1C and still be GD?

I was told I have GD through the one hour and 3 hour test at 10 weeks. My doctor took a A1C at 31 week... and it was 5.1 which I think is pretty low since I control it really well.

Just a thought why they might not trust A1C when determining GD. I have no idea... I just wanted to point out I have GD and a low A1C.

@Dandelion: Ah I see your point... if someone doesn't know they have GD then their A1C would creep up over the course of their pregnancy because they aren't trying to control since they don't know.

Right the bigger the placenta gets the harder it is to control your GD so the farther along you are and don't know the more and more... with even a good diet it would be harder to control.
