What week of pregnancy did they do it?

I had an induction at 39 weeks, 6 days because of gestational diabetes and they thought he would be big. He was 9 lbs, 2 oz and I gave birth by c section (failed induction) the next day.

C-section at 39w1d according to their due date (39w4d according to mine). The earliest they would schedule was the 13th and I scheduled it for the 14th so one of my fav doctors could do it.
I knew he wouldn't fit vaginally. My doctor said I made the best choice because they ended up having to vacuum him out during the c-section.

Induction at 39 weeks. They would have went straight to a c section if I wanted it. I wanted to at least try and I was able to deliver vaginally (over 9 lbs).

Scheduled c section at 39 wks 1 day - I didn't want to try vaginal. I KNEW he wouldn't fit and afterwards the doctor said I made the right choice. He was 10 lbs 9 oz. At my hospital, the earliest they will induce or schedule a c section (other than medical reasons) is 39 weeks.

They wouldn't automatically induce me because of family history of LGA babies, we all thought I could do it on my own. I was induced at 39w5d after two days of unproductive natural labor. Resulted in c-section at 40w0d.

@oliviaoblivia: did they actually diagnose you with LGA?

@T.H.O.U.: at 33 weeks they knew she was over 6.5 already. My mom delivered three nine pounders without meds and is smaller than me so I figured I could do it too. Even though DD's predicted birth weight was 9.5-10.5 my OB wasn't super concerned. I didn't gain much weight and had an easy pregnancy, I still wonder why they didn't offer an induction earlier. Not like the one I had worked, but still.

I had my c-section at 39 weeks. He was 9lbs 2 oz. we had to go through all the heel pricks if LGA, but his blood sugars were perfect, he was just big (as were all my other children...)
My doc said they couldn't do it earlier than 39 weeks, regardless of how big he was.

@oliviaoblivia: yea. That was my concern as well. I wanted to try to induce and do it on my own but I wanted to do it soon enough that it wouldn't be an issue.

I had GD so I had a scheduled induction at 39 weeks. She was already 8 lb 1 oz (same size her brother was at 40 weeks 1 day!) So I'm very glad.

They say 39 here too. It's making me a little paranoid because I really don't want to go into labor on my own beforehand. I'm about to see the dr that was there when I lost S so maybe she can ease my worries a bit.

I had a big baby, 10lbs8oz, and they refused to induce me early. They scheduled me for 42 weeks, my water broke at 40+4.
They had guaranteed she would be a minimum of 9lbs. I have a family history of large babies (I was 9lbs14oz).

@Dandelion: if I would have gone into labor earlier, they still would have done the c section. Have they already determined the baby is large? At 37 weeks I had an ultrasound that said DS was over 9 pounds. At that point, I had orders for a c section in case I went into labor early. I forgot the term that was used.

I was induced at 38 weeks due to GD and the associated risk of the baby being very large, despite growth scans indicating that she was a normal size. It took a week to induce me and she was born at 39 weeks, weighing less than 6lb.

Scheduled C-section at 39 weeks and 5 days. LO was breech and we didn't find out until 38.5 weeks, so there wasn't much time left!

@Mamasig: I'm only almost 28 weeks now. But DS was 6.5 pounds when he was born 8 weeks early and S was 10 pounds and died during labor (hence my fear of labor). I have no reason to believe that this baby won't be big also. I'm only 5'1 so big babies are an issue for me.
I know that they'll do a c if I go into labor on my own but I just have a fear about actually going into labor with a big baby again.

@Dandelion: Oh, I'm sorry - I didn't know. I totally understand your fear. Hopefully, you won't go into labor early. I have a coworker who was 5 weeks early with her 1st and then her second was 1 week late.

I had a scheduled c section due to breech baby, but it was done at 38 weeks 4 days due to GD. They were expecting her to be on the large side of average, but ended up being 5 lbs 8 oz.
