Would you trust your freezer stash in there? I have about 130 oz and its taking up a lot of room in our kitchen freezer. We have an old (Like 15+ year old) fridge/freezer in our laundry room. Should I move my stash out there? Or maybe half? I'm afraid it's gonna die on me!

If youre really worried - Move half. I have mine split between 3 freezers. Also, are you storing to maximize space? I have these plastic file folders that hold 84 oz. each and if I have 2 it takes up about 1/3 of my freezer.

@MamaJ: IDK about how long a fridge lasts, but I think my parents had their old fridge my whole childhood life!
We recently got back DH's old fridge and IDK how old that one is, but it's in our garage. I moved most of my small stash out there because the door doesn't get opened so I hope the milk stays longer out there. I'd probably do half.

Our "main" fridge was an older one (like... 20+ years) and most of my 1000oz stash took up the whole freezer-- I never worried about it dying on me

How often do you go into the older freezer? Would you notice in less then 12 hours if it had died? I would think that if you checked it at least twice a day then it would be fine (aka you would still be able to use the milk). But I agree wtih only moving half.

@MamaJ: you can get an alarm that will tell you if it stops working!

I'll be using our older fridge of unknown age (maybe 10 years?) to store my breast milk, because it's going to take up too much room in our main fridge. Like the PPs said, if you check it every time you put milk in your stash, and maybe get an alarm like @Mrs. Yoyo: mentioned, I think you'll be fine!

I wish it did because we have 250 oz in my kitchen freezer and we had to start cycling through because its taking up all our room for food!

@shopaholic: yes, the freezer door in the kitchen gets opened a lot which is also why I want to move it!
@T.H.O.U.: we hardly ever go into that fridge. We really only use it to store sodas for my inlaws and food from Costco!
