What would you choose?
I'm generally not a fan of names after big cities/states. I've met a few kids named Paris, London, Asia, India, Dakota, Georgia etc..
If I had to choose I might go with lesser known places like Tirzah or Blaine. I also really like Judah and Morocco (Rocco). I recently thought Penn was kinda cute.

I'm bad. I'd cheat. I'd just name my kid something that was already a first name like Sydney, Adelaide.. etc.

I would want it to mean something to me. If I had a boy maybe Lewis? The town my husband and I went to college in/met in was Lewisburg. I'll have to think on an appropriate girl name...

We named our DD Paisley for the town in Scotland. 
I do get a lot of people asking me if I named her for Brad Paisley (popular country singer)... Uhh, I like him but not that much!
I love Savannah (it was on my list) and Georgia (also on my list). I also really like Marin/Maren (as in Marin County in California) but it got vetoed.

Brooklyn for a girl. I like the name Brooke and Brooklyn isn't a far stretch.

My SIL's boyfriend has the same name as the city SO and I live in and it gets confusing! Haha.
If I was going to name a kid after a place, I'd want it to have special meaning to us, and at this point, I can't really think of any places that have meaning to us that could work as names. The only place that has meaning to us that is close to being a human name is Rupert, and I don't think I want to name my son that!

I really like the name Austin, but I have no tie to that city whatsoever. I can't think of any places that we have ties to that would work as a name, so I'd just go with one that already is a name (Austin, Charlotte...)

I love Charlotte, Savannah, Georgia & Paisley. I love the idea of a "place name" because I love to travel. Have a harder time thinking of boy names though.

My daughter has the name of a town in our state, but we didn't even know it before (very small town.) I like several names that are places too!
Austin, Sutton, & Leighton (techincally a street name in our city)

@MrsKoala: hahah I prob would too. There are sooo many cities with normal names. So it wouldn't be difficult. I didn't know Adelaide is a place- that's a top name for me!

DH loves the name Aquinnah - it's a place in Martha's Vineyard where we got engaged. I love the meaning behind it (obviously) but we plan on owning a place there one day and I think that's a little weird. It'd be like naming your kid Brooklyn and living in Brooklyn. A little too close to home... I like Quinn since it's similar and has meaning without being too obvious. Let's hope we have a boy though since neither of us want to compromise on that, LOL!

I grew up near a town called Stanton and I've always thought that would be a great first name for a boy. DH would never go for it, though!

@belleoftheballe: Marin was in our top five but we planned to pronounce it like "mare-in" not "mar-in".
We also strongly considered Lucia and Charlotte.
For a boy, I'm not sure, I guess Hudson?
Hmm, let me think of some more different ones... Avalon, Ashland (where we got married), Sedona, Soquel, Brighton, Sutter, Sonoma, Vail, Camden, Bandon, Petaluma, Aspen, Calistoga... Ok, I'm out of ideas!

Place names for us based on places we've lived or lived near would be Morgan, Clara, Clayton, Scott, or Bethany.
Other random ones that are fun include Helena, Lathrop, Gasquet, Shasta, Chestor, Hamilton, Nord, or Burlingame.
@78h2o: What part? I lived in the area for 3 years, and have good friends in Felton, Boulder Creek, etc.
