do you have a dbl stroller?
DS will likely be 2.5-3.5 when we have a LO#2. Just trying to gauge if it's a necessity.

Yep, but LO 1 just started walking a few weeks before LO 2 was born and I do not enjoy baby wearing.

For us it was a necessity because we live in a walking city with no car. Charlie was 22 months when Olive was born, but we didn't start using the double stroller until he was closer to 30 months. We tried the buggy board but it didn't work out, plus he still napped and we really needed the double for naps.
He dropped his nap shortly before he turned 4 and now we've been able to get by with a stroller + buggy board.

My DS was 2.5 when DD came along - I bought one used off CL - we used it maybe 3 times and then I sold it!
I think if I was a SAHM it would have gotten more use - park trips, walks, mall outings, etc.
When out I would wear DD and push DS in the stroller if needed

Kids are 2.5 years apart, and we have managed without one so far. DS1 just turned 3 and DS is 6 months old. I wear the baby, and most of the times DS1 will walk or sit in the shopping cart. I'll reevaluate the need when the time comes.

@yin: I'm thinking we'll be the same! We have an umbrella stroller now for DS... the only times I feel like we'll really need it is for vaca or day trips like the zoo. And maybe the mall (which we don't frequent a lot half of the year due to weather!)

My kids aren't here yet, but we have a double snap n go and the bumbleride indie twin. We are having twins, though, so it's a little different!

@mrsjyw: will your son sit in the stroller? We are having a at time right now - he won't sit in it, an we want to go for walks!

We purposely bought the City Select when I was pregnant with DS in antipication of 2 kids close in age in the future. Hope it gets used!

I didn't think it'd be so essential for us since we live in the suburbs, but it's been so useful for us! My kids are 26 months apart. They love sitting side by side together and we use it often to go to the park, mall, outdoor places, after dinner walks, etc.
I think it has a lot to do with the fact that J hates being worn, and N loves being held rather than walking on her own (much easier for us to just push both of them in a stroller). He is as happy a a clam in the stroller though. I think you can wait until the baby arrives to figure out if you really need one or not!

@hellobeeboston: he'll sit as long as we don't break the seal!

I think it's only really necessary if you have a lot of situations when one parent is taking both kids out. When we do an activity with DH we will often opt to take two single strollers instead of the double.

Yes...but I only needed to double jogging stroller with the 3 year difference.

@Baby Boy Mom: I haven't thought of taking two singles out but that's a good idea! I'll need to do that with #2 & #3.

Mine are the same age gap as yours, we have sit and stand. The baby prefers to be worn so I don't use it much, but it's nice to have when ibid need it and I think it will get more use when the baby is out of the infant seat.

Mine are 19 months apart so having a double was a must for the first year, I borrowed a sit-n-stand for the first 6 months because I didn't want to buy the infant carseat attachment for my city-mini double. From #1 we had an umbrella stroller and a snap-and-go and we used those a lot on the weekends at first also. I LOVE the city-mini double though, I literally used it every single day last year until it got too cold. Now that it's warmer I'm back to using it every day for neighborhood walks and at the zoo. However now that they are almost 2 and 3 1/2 for short trips (from the car into a store or church or gym) my older child walks and I'm back to using the umbrella stroller for the younger one.

My boys will be 20 months apart and I bought a double stroller. There will be plenty of times I will be solo with them. Plus, my 1st son never liked to be worn. Who knows it this one will. I don't want to have to wear him if we are out and about.

Mine are 3 years apart and we live in a city with no car and I use the stroller every single day. We have a wheel board that attaches to the stroller, so DS stands on that and we are able to go everywhere. I think if LO1 had been younger than 2.5 when LO2 arrived, I would have considered the double.

We got a used one so the cost wouldn't sting so much if it didn't get a lot of use.

@HLK208: Yeah, it's the best! So much easier to maneuver and we can split up in different directions if either of the kids have issues. Also, I'm excited for your #3!

I don't plan on getting one yet. Our kids will be 35 months apart, and Chloe likes to walk everywhere. But we enjoy loooong walks in the summer, so I do think having a double would be a good investment for that.
Is there a brand we should consider? I want to get it second hand. Or is a stroller a stroller when all you're doing is walking around the neighborhood?

We bought a double stroller (Mountain buggy duet). DS #2 is due in June and they will be 21 months apart.

No need. They are 21 months apart but we'd just baby wear one while the other was in the stroller. We only use the stroller for running.

I will let you know, but I went ahead and got one off craigslist. I anticipate lots of walking to the playground. I got a double jogger but I"m kind of intimidated to job pushing two kids!

We have a tandem joovy caboose sit 'n stand stroller, and we have used it quite a bit, especially when we have all day trips. But for short jaunts, i'll bring a single stroller for the toddler and baby wear.
