I have 4 kids including my step kids.
We bought a Buick Enclave - seats 7. We have taken a vacation together and we had plenty of indoor room but had to buy a small hitch on the back to carry our stuff. When we don't need all the seats I keep the 3rd row down so I have extra trunk space =)

@Mamaof2: @cyndistar3: Do you guys only have one car that fits all the car seats and kids?

@autumnlove: No, we can fit everyone in dh's truck but it's a bit of a squeeze.

We have a Toyota Highlander and its not bad...it works...but it's tight! There's a third row that we don't use because we always have a double stroller, bikes, scooters or Costco trips to fill up the space. If B wasn't in a booster seat, we wouldn't be able to fit 3 across the middle row.
I think if I could buy something else, we'd get a Tahoe or Suburban.

@HLK208: the Highlander looks nice! Who sits in the middle?
Haha, I'm not even TTC yet but overthinking stuff like cars!

@autumnlove: hahaha we bought the highlander before we started trying too.
B sits in the middle since his booster doesn't need anchors and the other two car seats do. The middle seat is really narrow but luckily Ben is skinny and we found a seat narrow enough to fit in there. Or else we would have had to buy E a narrower seat too.

@autumnlove: Don't do the highlander! Unless they've added a captains chair option & you plan on giving up the stroller. Three across is a PITA & unless you have captains chairs, they either climb over the seats or you're always moving seats out of the way (and they have to buckle & unbuckle themselves in the 3rd row). With the third row up there's no trunk space. The third row is also not usable for full grown adults. It's a great vehicle with two, but not more than that. If you're going with an SUV, I'm a bit ashamed, but I loooooved the Yukon Denali XL, captains chairs, third row of real seats and a huge trunk. Now it's obscenely expensive once you add all your options (the one I test drove for a secret shopper trip was >$80,000, but it had everything!) & not good on gas, but they had a hybrid option a couple years ago so you might be able to find a used one. Honestly, I'd go minivan if I were you, but I'm gonna think for a few on SUVs that aren't quite so crazy.

@mrs. bird: Ya, I think it might be too cramped since LO 1 won't be in a booster yet! I like the Odyssey and Sienna but DH isn't ready to embrace a mini van!
