What did you buy that was brand new just for them? I'm thinking a baby book and a swaddle blanket? I purchased a few clothing items but I think I'm done unless I see something I can't resist!

Absolutely we will reuse! I have all of LO's things tucked up in the attic. I may be heartbroken if the next is a boy bc is have so many girl things!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
we just sold out little lamb seat, so maybe a newborn bouncer? probably clothes - only a few. infant car seat! ours expires in 2016, don't think we'll have another by then.
this is assuming i can talk A into another! lol.
cantaloupe / 6751 posts
Hmm, we will prob reuse almost everything - it's all in such great condition. Only things we may buy are swing (sold ours) and sleep sacks since they are pretty worn. Hoping that our next is a girl as well!!

we don't have #2 yet but hubby and i have talked about what we will need the second time.
rock n play (LO didn't like his bouncer or swing)
swaddle blankets
coming home outfit
baby book
lovey
clothes if/when we need to fill in the gaps
more cloth diapers depending on the age gap
hope that helps!

@littlebittyhouse: I am eyeing a RNP too! I just hope DH will be ok with another piece of baby gear!
@sorrycharlie: I hope you can talk him into it! You make pretty babies!

I think because your two will be so close in age and same gender (right?), you can get away with barely purchasing anything new! I've heard others get new baby bathtubs, new bottles.
Probably you'd want new nipples (for the bottles), pacis/soothies, teething toys, a new "lovey"? I'd maybe get a cute new car seat cover?

@autumnlove: I am hoping for #2 to be a girl but if not...
I will buy swaddle blankets for him that are new so that he will have something different in his newborn pictures, and personalized stuff, like shirts that say "little brother..."
things I will get new either way:
1-new swing (hate mine, selling it on CL as soon as LO grows out of it)
2-new bottles (bought different brands but realized I love Avent! so new time around its only Avent)
3-New bouncer: pretty sure with the way we use this one, it will not be in good shape by the time LO #2 comes along
4- new bathtub (the kind that goes on the counter-top with a connector hose, instead of in the tub, because my back problems are getting ridiculous
omgosh @autumnlove: I'm kind of mad at you right now...You got me wanting #2 already!!! This is NOT good
coconut / 8299 posts
We reused most of our baby gear except:
- Sleepers (had to get some girl ones this time!0
- Crib sheets
- Pacifiers
- Bottle nipples
- Some new pump parts
- A&A blankets
That's about it so far. I was able to reuse most of my things, even for a different gender!
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@shopaholic: Yes! I just don't want her to get the complete shaft....lol!
bananas / 9973 posts
@autumnlove: Definitely some new outfits of her own for: coming home, family portraits or professional pictures, etc.!

@autumnlove: wish you lived in MI...i'd give you my RnP for free...We've used it twice. No joke...

#2 I plan on reusing all the furniture, swing, R&P, pack in play, clothes (if a girl & in season), blankets, bottles, strollers.
I will buy a new carseat (DD is a puker and the seat is just gross no matter how much I clean it) and if it's a boy I will be new clothes, bedding/room decor, and some boy blankets.
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@TurtleDoves: Awwh. Does your DS prefer a flat surface for naps?
clementine / 959 posts
I'm going to get them each their own letter and number posters, as well as a personalized growth chart to hang on their wall. I got all of these from etsy for DS.
My mom will knit something for each of them, and I'd like to make them each their own Xmas stocking.
pineapple / 12234 posts
We bought everything new except the high chair, crib and changer! It was hard because they are 3 years apart and different genders.
All of our DS's things like the bouncer, stroller, car seat,
exercauser and pack and play stayed at my parents house while we bought new gear for our house. But if we have a third, they will probably get close to nothing lol.
So we bought, a car seat, a swing, a front carrier, exercauser, crib mattress, crib mattress protector, dresser, double stroller, blankets, bottles, clothes and swaddle me's.

i sold everything that was big and rebought it used for olive. also a completely new wardrobe -- didn't reuse almost anything for olive because my mom bought a ton of girly clothes.
we did buy a new crib (but should have transitioned charlie to a toddler bed because we ended up doing so a couple months after olive was born). i also bought a baby bjorn bouncer which was great. new bottles. other than that... i didn't buy much!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@autumnlove: aww thanks! I hope so too! I think I'm starting to sway him..lots of talk of "needing 3 bedrooms for 2nd baby.." and he doesn't argue anymore
pomegranate / 3414 posts
Pretty much everything except clothing (first was a girl, second is a boy). DS has a lot of pink blankets
nectarine / 2886 posts
Yes, we plan to reuse for #2. That's how I justified buying nice stuff for #1 ;P
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
I'm a cheapo..... If I have another girl Ill reuse everything and only buy what I need. Most of los stuff now is hand me downs anyway.
I don't even feel the need to buy a new coming home outfit.... Especially if its the same season I'd love for them to wear the same thing.
pomelo / 5178 posts
For DS I bought some more sleepers, new swaddle blankets, new bath towels, crib sheets, and new bottle parts. We were team green with both kids so most all of the newborn was handed down.
pomegranate / 3890 posts
yup reusing everything. if we have a girl next time, i will be creative and use some boy clothes to mix together with girl clothes. all his big stuff is gender neutral so thats no big deal.
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
We didn't have to buy hardly anything. We got a new bathtub because we had given ours away and a coming home outfit just for M. Other than that we're reusing it all. We tried to keep our carbon footprint and costs low.

New car seat (X has used a convertible seat from the get-go, & will for years probably)
If it's a girl, clothes & room decoration type things. A few girl-specific toys, & books, maybe.
And I've been telling DH that we're hiring a sleep coach from day 1 with baby #2, when the time comes. I'd rather have another kiddo use hand me downs 100% of the time than have us walking around like zombies with 2 kids to run after.
pear / 1895 posts
This is why I won't buy gender-specific anything! Especially things that are good quality, like organic and/or wool clothing. Once we have the baby and know the gender, the only things I plan to buy that are gender specific will be on clearance. That way I can reuse almost 100% of our first baby stash.
We did just get a baby quilt made for this baby. I'd like to get one made for each child.
pomegranate / 3329 posts
I can't say that we'll be buying all of these brand new but what we'll need for this one -
Pack n play
Highchair
Crib
Carseat
Double Stroller
Bottles
Paci's
Swing
Dh saw a RNP and thought that we could definitely use it!!
Clothes wise I bought most of lo's used, and plan on doing the same for this one.
kiwi / 549 posts
Double stroller! That's another on my list if X is still in a stroller when we have a 2nd.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
Here is our short list of things we will look for:
- Second seat for our B-Ready stroller
- Infant bath seat (sold ours)
- Infant Swing (sold ours)
- Bouncy Seat (would love to try a Bjorn)
- maybe a RNP or Co-Sleeper?
watermelon / 14206 posts
if this is a girl, we have a short list...carseat, a&a blankets and a new stroller.
If it's a boy I have my work cut out for me.
grapefruit / 4800 posts
We're reusing most everything - most of our big items are gender neutral and we're having another little girl. I'm buying a few more winter things in small sizes since our first was a spring baby and this one will be born in late fall. I'll probably get more A&A swaddles since our first LO loved them literally to pieces.
GOLD / papaya / 10166 posts
We didn't have a swing, so we'll do that this time. I'll still buy new clothes and stuff if it's a girl because most of the clothes I have are so stained and/or faded. Not sure what else we'll buy - it depends on the house we move in to.
bananas / 9118 posts
We will reuse pretty much everything, even if it is a girl. Unless my SIL gets pregnant with twin boys again, we've got plenty of early baby clothes.
Rock n' Play (never knew about these before)
A going home outfit
If a girl-
A carseat cover
A few bows
pear / 1554 posts
We'll probably reuse a lot of LO's things that we kept but we will have to get a crib. I also gave away most of LO's newborn and 0-3 months wardrobe because I thought it was highly unlikely we would have another girl, i was wrong. So now I have to replace all that. I also gave the same friend our bassinet and bouncer so we'll have to replace those too. Plus, pacifiers, bottles, crib sheets.
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
I bought a second crib, RNP, dresser, chair, double stroller, some rompers and dresses (DD was a winter baby), crib mattress, crib sheet, wipe warmer, changing pad and changing pad cover!
clementine / 830 posts
We will reuse most of the big stuff since it was all gender neutral and in great condition - RNP, swing, car seat (N is still in it actually, he'll switch to a convertible in a few months). I don't plan on a new crib, the new baby will sleep in the travel crib or pnp until N transitions to a twin size. I probably will not buy a double stroller until #2 is born and we see what our needs really are. I'll buy new bibs and coming home outfit, if this one is a girl then some girly clothes.
Just a funny story - my friend reused all her DD's stuff for her DS so I'll see pictures of him in pink bibs that say Diva!, Daddy's Proncess and I Love Bling!!
pear / 1699 posts
If #2 is also a boy we won't need much at all. I'll buy a double stroller, an Ergo, Avent nipples and a new furniture set for DS and give the baby his. If it's a girl I'm sure I'll go overboard with clothes but will still be able to use all the gear from DS. Either way #2 will get a new nursery (same furniture, new everything else) and baby book.
