We are planning on handing out candy if anyone comes by the house early - before 6:30. After that we are turning off our light because it's bedtime for M.
What are your plans for handing out candy?

We won't... we're in a new apartment building and so idk if we'll even have T or T'ers but I just won't answer the door. I might have to put up a sign since DS will be sleeping too.

We turn off our lights once she's in bed but we'll still have a few people ringing the bell. DD doesn't wake up anyway so it's fine.

Yup. We're in an apt building and they're doing trick or treating between 6 and 8. LO is only 11 days old and doesn't have much of a schedule yet, so I imagine he'll be awake.

We have a night owl, and he is a deep sleeper, impervious to sounds when he is asleep, so we will hand out candy all night.

Yep, but we're going to sit on the porch so we don't have people knocking. DH is going to disconnect our doorbell.

I hadn't thought about what to do... LO goes to bed between 8 and 9, so T or Ting should be mostly done by then. I think last year we didn't get anyone after 8:30 pm.
It's supposed to rain like crazy here, so maybe no one will come and I'll have to eat all our candy myself!

We're taking both kids out trick-or-treating. Hopefully DS (7 months) will be ok staying up 1/2 hour or so past his bedtime. After we put the kids to bed, we'll just sit on the porch and hand out candy so the dogs don't bark when people come to the door.

We did last year when LO was 4 months; it wasn't really an issue. This year not sure what we're doing yet since it will be past his bedtime to go out, and he is a much lighter sleeper- maybe put a post-it on the doorbell...

Yes but the dog's more of an issue than t or t'ers!

I'm still preg, but DH is gone away at work offshore until Nov 15, and even though I never open the door when I'm by myself, I was thinking of handing out candy.
And then I watched Law and Order yesterday and they had one of my biggest fears about answering the door- where a woman killed a pregnant lady and cut her baby out so she could kidnap it. Totally irrational, I know....But that's why I don't answer the door when DH is gone! I saw that on some show before - it happened in real life - and it's never left me.
Whomp whomp to the handing out candy thread!

Last year when LO was little we sat out front with the monitor after we put her to bed so people wouldn't have to knock and wake her up. It was fun!

Yes, we're handing out candy. We're also taking LO for a walk through the neighborhood. We have like 6 people coming over to celebrate LO's first holiday. She's 25 days old.

We moved to a new apt so not sure if we will have trick or treaters or not. I get home late-ish from work, but mom is flying in and letting herself in.
I left candy in case any people come.

We don't really "do" Halloween in New Zealand and Baby was having a bad evening last night so I put a sign on our door that said "Please don't knock on the door, Baby is sleeping"!
I felt a wee bit mean but I just couldn't handle the knocking and the resulting dog barking as well as a raging Baby last night!

I did tonight! She sat out With me for about an hour. Then i put her down and she fell asleep, no real issue. We continue to have pple knock for about 2 hours after she went to bed. It didnt seem to bother her.

I don't imagine we'll get an Trick or Treaters here, but we spent the past few nights at my IL's house (I was concerned about the effect of Sandy on my wall of windows), so I'm not prepared for them anyway--no candy. I thought about going out and getting some today, just in case, but DH has the car and it's cold, grey and rainy, and I didn't want to take DS out for a walk today.
If I had gotten candy I probably would leave the light on, just in case. DS is a night owl, so I wouldn't worry about him being woken up. But it's probably for the best since the weather is so gross--chances are we wouldn't get anyone and then I'd have a big bag of chocolate to eat myself!

@Leialou: Yes! I saw the same one! And I saw another show where the woman survived, and then told the story about how she was basically kidnapped and had to fight off the other woman when she came at her with a scalpel! CRAY CRAY!

@PrincessBaby: yeah wasn't it in milwaukee?? I remember my SIL sharing that lovely story with me I heard it while I was pg too... ugh.

Nope! DH won't be here and I really hate opening our door when I'm alone...
