As you guys may be able to tell, I am really wanting to get on board with the no shoes in the house rules but am trying to figure out the logistics! Most of the time we wear slip on shoes so its not a big deal but my husband is the worst offender and he wears sneakers a lot.
We have an open concept house and we come in and out through our front door. We have a small foyer but not really any place to store a bunch of shoes. Also no place to sit down to put on shoes.
Any good storage ideas?

I would just put a mat or small rug down in the entrance way. Just keep the shoes on there. I don't think it really matters if it's an open concept or not. If people see a mat on the floor by the door, they know it's for shoes!

We just leave our shoes by the door. There are only 2 of us so only a handful of shoes. I Keep my dress shoes in their original boxes in my closet.
When I was living on my own I kept a small shoe rack by the door for guests:

By our front door we have one of those cube looking storage shelves. The bottom row of cubes is for shoes. By our back door, we just have a good sized mat and leave them there. Extra shoes live in our room, but our most frequently worn shoes are by the door. We don't sit to put of shoes on, we just bend over or squat to tie them. It might seem like a pain at first, but it's so much better than cleaning the floors everyday!

Shoes are by the door...We also have a shoe rack against the wall and in the closet as well. We take off our shoes and just kick them to the side or place them neatly on the rack or in the closet.

@MrsBrewer: This. We have a pile of shoes at the front--it also signals guests to take off their shoes.
I really have to get DH to take his combat boots off when he gets home. It's difficult for him to remember but those track in not just dirt but HUGE rocks and chunks of dirt. Ick!

We normally come through the garage so the shoes stay there. When we have guests, the shoes just hang out around the front door. Maybe put up a shoe rack?

We have plastic trays that hold our regular shoes. We also have a bench to sit on.

I sell storage containers, purses,totes, so I just a mini utility bin monogrammed with Shoes on it to put near the door.

It is not a pretty solution, but we have a big tupperware container where we dump all of our shoes. This is due for a big upgrade, and I'm on the hunt.

We just slip them off and put them on the floor. But I recently got a massage at a spa that had no shoes allowed and I thought of your posts because they had a neat thing to store your shoes before you even came in the door.

We have a shoe rack from Target at both the front and back door. But somehow shoes just end up piled on the ground in front of the door anyways.

We have wicker baskets at our front and back doors that have enough room for each of us to put a couple pairs of shoes. The rest of our shoes are stored in a closet.

We have a rug in front of the door and a small bench right next to it. When we didn't have the space, we just had a rug next to the door and people would leave their shoes there.

We also have white shoe cubes in our walk in closet on two of the walls.
