...how do you keep the track from skipping on the loop?
We've been using an old smartphone with a white noise app, but the phone isn't working anymore. We've tried using an iPod nano, but there's a skip when the track loops, and I can't seem to figure out a way to prevent that. I need the track to play continually all night.

We use the white noise app so it doesn't skip. The app just plays all night.

We love the iDream white noise app! We have a sound machine at night but use this in the car and when we aren't home !

DH has a white noise app on his iphone. But we don't use it overnight, just when we are out of the house. We have a plain 'ol white noise machine for nighttime and naps.

By a skip, do you mean a split second pause?
What i did was program the track so that the volume gets softer as it approaches the end of the track, and then gradually starts to get louder at the beginning of the track.

Do you mean when the track ends? The pause is so brief that it's never seemed to bother LO.

@Freckles: hmm. This might work. The alt. track we tried faded out at the end, but didn't fade in at the beginning, and it jolted LO awake!

@allison: We use an ipod touch. But, if I were you I would get one of these sound machines instead of using the nano. If we didn't already have the iTouch then we would have bought this one. My patients use them all teh time and love them.

@babynumber1: We're just trying to make work what we already have. It seems like we've bought SO much baby stuff lately! If I can't get this to work, though, I'll probably end up with a machine like that one.

@allison: I edited the track so that it gets quieter about 1 minute before the end because there's like a 5 second pause at the end of the track. Editing out that last minute made a world of a difference and sounds much smoother. There is still a blip but nothing that would startle LO.

We do this. But we have an iPod touch and downloaded a white noise app.

@allison: we edited the track so it doesn't fade in or out or have a pause! if it still has the pause, i would try to make it fade in! i think DH used garage band. we found a free trial track that was a minute long and then looped it.

@birdofafeather: I don't know why we can't get the pause out! Even when the track is edited without one, the ipod leaves a gap when it loops.
I'm wondering if I just edited the track I have (that fades out but not in) to not fade at all, if that would work. I think it's an hour long, so it wouldn't be very noticeable, probably.
We have the added complication that it must work for ALL of us, because LO sleeps in our room. DH is a heavy sleeper, but I'm not so much.

@allison: totally! i'm a light sleeper too and this worked for us!
i found this work around, maybe it will work for you? you go to the info on the song in itunes and set the start and stop time? not sure if this will transfer to the ipod, but i think it should!

@birdofafeather: do you remember where you found the track you're using? The one we have, though it's an hour long (ideal), won't get loud enough for some reason!
