I taught while preggo. On my feet for 8+ hours a day, 5 days a week....and I had to be induced, sorry

Hmm I'd never really thought of this in relation to going into labour. I have a job that I sit sometimes but am generally up and down a million times a day and mostly standing/walking. I worked until 4 days before LO was born and went into labour at 38w2d.

I'm a pre-k teacher and I rarely sit down at work. I had a scheduled c-section at 39+4, so he didn't come early. I didn't have any contractions or other signs of labor beforehand either.

I don't think that will affect it but being so active probably will help you be prepared for labor! When I read your post I finished the sentence with... "I would be such a bitch :)" I was so super sore! Good job being active! I wasn't working but exercised everyday and had to climb lots of stairs and walked a lot... DD came exactly on her due date!

I am a nurse as well, I was put on modified bed rest at 34 weeks because the shift work/long hours on my feet was exacerbating my PIH badly (would have been as early as 28 weeks, but I modified my schedule a bit/used vacation hours to decrease my shift stretched to keep myself at work longer).

Wow, I'm so impressed with you teachers that managed to work right up until close to due! At 30w I was SO done, and ready for end of academic year.

I'm a nurse and had my baby at 37w6d. However, I went off work early at 31 weeks, though I was still quite active right up until delivery.

I was busy taking care of a toddler all day, and the baby arrived at 39 weeks + 1 day. He is my second and labor was very quick (less than 4 hours from start to finish). I took it easy with my first pregnancy, and LO arrived at 38 weeks + 4 days. I don't think being on my feet helped labor come any faster though.

I was a teacher and lo was born 5 weeks early. I was on modified bed rest for a bit though and then told to "take it easy" but i was probably on my feet way more than they wanted me too. Thats just the way ijt goes for teachers (and nurses)
