How did you change your therapist? We are thinking of switching her SLP because it is not working out. How do I do it? My coordinator told me that I have to call the agency or I have to switch agency, which is fine, but then what do you do despite listening to my complaints? I know Bee changed it for Olivia, I wish she would explain how.

@ncmz: I would call the agency and tell them why it's not working out and that you'd like a new therapist. That's what we were told to do if we wanted a new PT. But we've been very lucky with our PT so far.

I am surprised that your coordinator is not being very responsive. This should fall under his/her umbrella of duties.
The easiest thing to do would be to switch to a different therapist with the same agency. Just call and express any concerns you have (therapist not showing up? not communicating well with you?, etc) or tell them that you just don't feel like it is a good fit. This should not be a problem... it happens. Every therapist has a different style, and sometimes it just doesn't mesh with a family.
If you are unhappy with the agency, I would line up a new therapist first. Call around or get a referral from friends, etc. Again, this is where your coordinator SHOULD come in. He/she should be able to provide you with some options. After you line up the new therapist, just call the old agency, let them know that you want to discontinue services (no explanation is really necessary unless you feel like you want to lodge a complaint), and have them send your child's info (evaluations, progress notes, etc) to new therapist/agency. You may have to sign a release for this last step to happen.
