I'm so sorry you are dealing with this! LO1 loved it too, but her cousin HATED it. She eventually grew out of it, but it was tough riding in a car with her. My sister just eventually grew used to the screaming which sounds awful I know

Mine got a lot better once we removed the newborn insert, but would still cry a good deal. Once we switched to a convertible at 7 months she liked the car a LOT more.

i'm so sorry that's rough! one of my nanny LOs hated the carseat, this sounds totally insane, but putting a heating pad in it for a bit before loading them up seemed to help. at home they were swaddled & cozy or being cozied up to a warm body most of the time, so unwrapping them & sticking them in the seat seemed to set 'em off, warming up the seat took the edge off. of course that only helped for so long & then the fits would start during the drive, that didn't stop until switching to a convertible seat so they were higher up & could see out the window hope this phase passes quickly for you guys!

@JessKas: YES! Mine hated his car seat but when we removed his newborn insert, all of the sudden he tolerated being in the seat just fine! I would try removing the insert (if your baby is past the weight recommendation for it) - I guess it was putting DS' back in a weird position or something.

yeah, mine didn't like the carseat as a newborn either. it was rough--made me not want to go anywhere. one thing to check is the crotch belt--i heard of some people moving it to the bigger/looser position and that helped. the smallest setting might be too tight, even for newborns. sorry i don't have great advice. the crying every time we were in the car stopped after a few months, but long car trips were hard until recently (LO is 2 years old).

yep! it was better by 7 or 8 weeks. We took a 4 hour trip and she was ok with me back there with her.

Yes, I dreaded car rides for about the first 12 weeks (we rarely left the house anyways since it's freezing in Chicago). But then about 3 weeks ago, I noticed that he didn't cry when being strapped in anymore! Whoa! He'll still fuss occasionally, but is better when he gets his paci. Although when I'm driving and he's alone in the back, the paci falls out pretty quick.

@sorrycharlie: I really think it helped......try 5 mins for a couple days, then 10 mins, then 15....

In the beginning the only thing that helped was someone sitting in the back with him. It got better around 4 months, I think. Now at almost 9 months, he still sometimes fights it but most of the time he falls asleep or talks to himself.

Mine hated t for a few months. I don't remember exactly when she grew it of it, maybe 4 or 5 months? It took a little while. I think what actually helped was using the car seat in the stroller. I was totally surprised that she preferred being in the car seat attached to the stroller, instead of the flat bassinet, since she hated the car seat in the car. But once we started doing walks with it, she started tolerating being in the car better. But this was in the fall, mostly, not the dead of winter like now.

Yes! LO HATED the car seat. And I hate to say that he didn't outgrow it until almost 6 months. He just wasn't happy in there unless he was sleeping, and that wasn't very often. Unfortunately, we just sat and listened to him scream. Going anywhere was hellish.

My LO hated the bucket. She never napped, always screamed.

We moved her to a convertible, and she is very happy to see out the windows, and naps in it ALL THE TIME!

Wish we would have tried it sooner!
