...how much PTO (or sick/vacation time if it isn't lumped together) did he/she take after baby was born?
Dh's company only officially gives him like 3 days for paternity leave, and we're trying to think about how much PTO time he should take on top of that, since we'll want to save some time for vacations and emergencies during the rest of the year.... For reference, I won't be working until lo is about 4 months or so as I'm a grad student and have a responsibility-free summer (yay!) except keeping up with dissertation work as I can, my mom will most likely be around to help a lot, and dh works at home, so while he has set hours and responsibilities, he will at least be in the same apartment even while he's working.
Then take all of July off when the program shuts down for those that have enough vacation.
we probably won't use it since dh has enough paid leave to cover whatever chunk of time he takes off, but thank goodness it's there in general since many employers aren't as generous with paid time off
