If you're absolutely, definitely done with having kids (as in, i'd be horrified and crying if i found out i was having another)...what's your current form of BC?

Not there yet, but DH will get a vasectomy once we're done.

We still have another kid to go, but DH will be getting a vasectomy. UNLESS my last pregnancy ends in a C-Section, then I will get a tubal, but I don't foresee that happening.

I tried to get an IUD, but my OB couldn't place it (something about my cervix being curved). SO i'm stuck on BCP's. I am 4 mo PP and terrified I'm going to end up pregnant. I am horrible at taking the pill

I would be horrified and crying (per your post)
if I found out I was pregnant now and I have an IUD. My husband was planning on a vasectomy, but making such a permanent decision makes me nervous. By the time this IUD expires, he will be in his 50's though, so the chance of more babies will be unlikely, and he'll get it done then.

@lamariniere: @mrsjyw: @littlek: @swurlygurl: @yoursilverlining: We have been thinking about the vasectomy route but recently read an article about the link between vasectomies and lethal forms of prostate cancer. (http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/07/17/a-vasectomy-may-increase-prostate-cancer-risk/) It's very new data and not sure how credible it is, but i guess we'll have to wait and see after #2 comes!
@Mamaof2: How was the recovery? Any side effects since?

@Freckles: Oh man!! We have probably another 2 years or so until that's a problem, so hopefully there are more studies done on that in the meantime.

@Freckles: I was told that it might be a little more difficult than recovering from my 1st c/s but actually it was easier. It took about 3 extra minutes for her to cut my tubes after I delivered DD.
No side effects at all!
Its soooo nice not worrying about contraceptives!

@Freckles: that sucks! Although the rate was 19/1000 v 16/1000 but still! Dh got a vasectomy about a year ago. They used a laser and healing was quick!

I would be horrified and crying if we had a positive test right now (though I'm sure I could come around to the idea of having a second--but it would be a total shock and is not in the plans!!) and am 99.9% sure we are one-and-done, but we are also relatively young and so is our baby so there's a small chance we could change our mind someday, so I'm on the Paragard IUD. It lasts for about 10 years (I've had it for 4 months now), so I'll keep it in until then (or whenever I have to have it taken out if I have a medical reason for it having to be removed), and then DH will get a vasectomy.

We're not completely one and done, so I have an IUD for now, but once we decide for sure D will be getting a vasectomy.

I'm on the depo shot until my 6 week pp appointment (not that I plan to DTD before that point!) and then I'll get mirena. DH will most likely get a vasectomy after that.

Abstinence (or pull-out method during non-fertile times) until my BCP are safely pushing hormones through my body for more than just a couple of weeks.
