DS is 15 months and has a rough list in my head of 10 or so words that he says consistently/daily.
When did you start (if at all) counting or making lists of words?

At 12 months I started keeping track of them in a book I had but by 16 months when DS's language exploded I gave up!

We have kept a rough list since about 12 months old. The problem now is that I keep forgetting to add to it!

I don't keep an official count. But in anticipation of their 18 mo check up, I wrote down all the words I heard them say in a day or two, just so I have a ballpark number if the ped asks. It's way more than I would have guessed, so I'm glad I did.

I don't keep a count either. I just had a discussion with my mom about LO's speech development. He knows objects and can express what he wants. We're working on two word phrases right now. It's called receptive language. We got him to say "quiche" this weekend as well as "more food." For 18 months old, he's well on his way for language development.

@mrsjyw: I made a list before her 15 month appt in case they asked me..which they happened to ask! she wasn't concerned though and said that up to 5 was good. Olivia had more than that, but she said they just look for attempted speech for the most part!

@mrsjyw: I started around 12 months. Now at 18 months she has way too many words to keep a count!

I think I started at 13 months.. only because DD had so many words!

I started keeping track a few weeks before his 15 month checkup because I know they'll ask.
