Looking for advice or to see if others had a similar issue with sleep training. We just finished day 6, CIO with check and console, first three nights we'd actually pick him up to soothe now just a little belly rub calms him. While I do think it’s working to some extent, we aren’t getting the “no cry results” I see others having and somehow are winding up with MORE night wakings.
As background, our son is 12 weeks. That’s early, but I feel like at 16+ pounds his feeding/sleeping capacity is robust and his size make our 3-4 hour ball bouncing nighttime routine unsustainable. He also is fairly capable of self-soothing. Bedtimes have gotten better but there are still tears after 5 nights. More worrisome is he has actually increased the number of times he wakes during the night. Before starting he consistently woke once at 3:40 to nurse, occasionally he’d wake up twice. Day 1 woke up once, day 2 STTN (hallelujah!), Day 3 woke twice, Day 4 woke twice, Day 5 woke up three times, Day 6 woke three times.
We aren’t trying to night wean him, so I just go to nurse when he cries. Am I doing something wrong? Anyone see obvious issues I can fix in our sleep log? Is this normal and will get better on its own? We do a bath, nurse, story, bed routine and don’t plan to nap train until nights are under control. Help!
