Ladies - thanks so much for all the love! Not too many people know about our situation or know the right thing to say (if you know what I mean), so it is just such a wonderful feeling to be able to openly share with all of you and have such great feedback and support.
@jholler25: Thank you - that is just the sweetest thing!! Feeling good so far! P.S: You have the BEST pregnant mama style. Hope I can steal some fashion tips from you soon!
@raintree: Wishing you all the best today!! I'll be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed!
@ChuckNorris: The wonderful thing about our blood test next Sat is we will get the results that afternoon. Super quick turnaround time! (whispering...) I may POAS that morning, too, just so I know what to expect. I still want to see my two lines someday!

Thanks for all the well wishes, Ladies! Today went okay. I actually woke up in the middle of the night last night with a terrible sore throat and now have a full blown cold. Of course not a big deal except I am paranoid that it will mess with my bfp. Was very groggy going in today because of the poor night sleep. The procedure itself was not a big deal--I experienced minor cramping. DH's sample was worse than his SA--40million, 40% motility (no morph studied today, but this was the only borderline criteria in his original SA, which had 75million, 70% motility!) Several funny things: (1) DH decided to start taking pics beforehand in the exam room in case we wanted to show our future child where s/he was conceived LOL (2) DH decided to take home a probe cover for the ultrasound machine as a souvenir (very mature of him--I think he thought it was a condom) (3) the doc who was on call and performed the procedure was actually in DH's residence hall at college--awkward surprise!!! Anyway, afterwards I just laid there for awhile. The doctor told me to stay 5 or 10 minutes but DH wanted me to "marinade" longer. We then went to see an early matinee of The Master (yawn) and have been relaxing ever since. Even got my nails done. One surprising thing was that the doc told me absolutely no high impact exercise. I am a runner, but I am kind of relieved the doc made the decision for me of what to do during the TWW.
Anyway, thanks for listening to my novella. I look forward to just letting nature take its course now and to reading up on everyone else's status. Wishing you all the best!

@chucknorris. Two things--I saw your update from a few days ago. Sorry to hear you were disappointed in the visit. I know your doc is worried about morph. I think the importance of morph is a topic of some debate, but the WHO recently updated their criteria for morph to a 4% cutoff. Just wanted to pass this along in case your lab uses the old criteria, which many still do. http://infertilityblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/sperm-morphology-new-guidelines.html
Also, thanks for posting the link to those funny posts. Loved it!

Joining this thread because I'm now TTC again. Woohoo!! Last time I left off, I was just starting cycle 8. So I'm on cycle 8!
I had already seen a fertility specialist. A little about me...
-DH's SA was abnormal in morphology. He also has some *cough cough* performance issues.
-I had a HSG that was incredibly painful and hope I don't have to do that again. The result were normal and all clear.
-Dr wanted us to try IUI and thats when we (our marriage) went downhill and stopped TTC.
Now that I'm back after a 3 month break (marriage is doing A LOT better) and I'm already halfway through my cycle (too late to start IUI) so we are on our own this month.
If no BFP this month, I will call the fertility clinic.
This was the plan that the dr gave me...
-Call on CD1
-CD3-7: Be on Femara
-CD12-14: Ultrasound (first month only)
-CD10-18: take OPK tests
-Call when I get a positive OPK
-Schedule IUI next day
So the only thing I need to ask the doctor is when does the DH need to go in to make his 'deposits'?
I'll call the doctor on Monday and ask.
Anyway, this first week of TTC again is actually my fertile period so fingers crossed that we can BD every other day... maybe?
I've been avoiding almost all TTC threads while on 'break' so I have a lot of reading and catching up to do.

@skipper2010: I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I really like it. She's very inspirational.
@GreenThumb: Fingers crossed for two lines! Will you be testing before Saturday? And yes, I'm finding people OFTEN don't know what to say about our various situations.
@raintreebee: So glad that everything went okay! Your DH is so cute. "Look honey, this is where you were conceived!!" Hahaha. I hope you enjoyed relaxing! So you didn't like the Master? I was curious about it, it looks like one of those movies that's horrible but will win all the awards during award season. LOL. Fingers crossed for a speedy TWW and a BFP! When do you start testing?? Are you testing out your trigger shot? That's super interesting about the morphology. I live in BFE so I'm sure they are using the old style. Thanks for the info!
@bluestriped bee: I'm glad you're back! I was not following your story before (am new ish to HB!) but it's always good to have another added to this wonderful group, although I'm sorry you have to be here! Congrats on things going well in your marriage again - that must have been so scary! FX for a BFP this month and that you don't have to go the IUI route! =)))) Welcome back again!

@raintreebee: Oh, also, I'm sorry about your cold! I know Jaguar from WB got a cold once in her TWW and another time early in her pregnancy, I hope it doesn't affect anything for you!! =)
AFM I'm CD 18 I think.... I get CH's soon on FF, so that's cool I guess. I definitely have no hope that it will happen "naturally" at this point. But I'm okay with that! I'm just anxious to get started on meds now! Also, my best friend, whose wedding I'm in, had to move up her wedding!!! YAY! (Albeit the circumstances are absolutely awful, but it's good that she's moving it up for a lot of people). She REALLY wanted me to be pregnant (like more than ANYTHING) at her wedding, and, if all goes well, I will be! So that's good news!

In other news, there is a problem with my insurance... I got a bill for all my visits with my RE and my EMB (yikes!) and it's $522+$150 so far - not including October. I have to call my insurance company tomorrow, ugh! Thank GOD all my labs are comped by my employer!
How's everyone else doing?
pomelo / 5228 posts
Hi Everyone! I've decided its time for me to come out of hiding. I've been lurking (after being active) for a few months in an attempt to lower my baby fever when things weren't working as quickly as I had hoped. It somewhat worked, but I've found myself lurking more and more anyway, so its time to come back.
And unfortunately, here I am at the Infertility thread... 7 months of TTC down, hopefully not too many left. I let myself get too worked up the past few days, since I felt my boobs hurt more than normal, and I started to see some veins pop up. Another loop my body threw me for!
Anyway, I just made an appointment with my OBGYN, since she said to come see her if I didn't get knocked up after 6 months of trying (we tried for one extra "lucky" month). I have no idea what the appointment will entail, but she did say that AF has to be over, so I can't go in until next Monday
So can anyone give me an idea on what to expect for my first appointment? I hear she likes to do a lot of testing, so hopefully I can get some answers quickly.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@bluestriped bee: @Mrs.Someone: welcome to the thread. It's nice to see new faces, but I also hate it. Infertility is tough and I wish you didn't have to join us. I wish this thread didn't have to exist at all!
@mrs.someone: I spoke to my gynecologist about not getting a BFP at my annual exam, so my experience may be different that what yours will be. All that happened was she referred my husband to have a SA and scheduled a blood draw for me to get tested. Then she discussed the results over the phone. Since everything is normal with me, I haven't had another appointment with her. My husband and I have been seeing an urologist.
Ok, here is an update: It's been 8 days since the IUI. I'm trying very hard not to symptom spot, because everything I've noticed can have another explanation. I'm also trying to stay positive and tell myself that I will be seeing a BFP next week. I'm not going to test until me period is late, because I can't bare to see a BFN.
nectarine / 2705 posts
Hi everyone! I've been out of town for a bit, so I'm behind on everyone's updates. Things are good with me. My husband's SA is this week and I'm trying to allow myself to have a little hope that maybe we can conceive naturally after the HSG I had last Monday. We'll see!
- - - - - - - -
@mrsfarmer: welcome to the thread! Good luck with the reverse psychology thing Let us know if you managed to make it work for you! (ps - I was drinking Fertilitea last winter and really liked the taste of it...I wish it was the magical trick to getting a BFP!)
- - -
@spaniellove: I would have been a wreck if I came out of my first appointment and didn't feel convinced we had the right doctor. Glad you were able to work through it with your husband and you feel like you can move forward with them. Ask lots of questions, and take the time you need to process it all. They really do load you down with a lot of information on that first appointment.
My doctor also told me that they would only transfer one embryo for IVF. Since we are on the younger side, they don't recommend more than one. Sounds like we're being told the same thing - so that's comforting right? Comparing notes helps.
- - -
@skipper2010: of course you can join - happy that you feel comfortable to share your story. Everyone here is super supportive. Did you end up having to do an HSG? It's annoying that the pill can mess up our cycles so much, isn't it?
- - -
@chucknorris: I am amazed at the amount of information you get at your appointments. And that you can retain it all! It's helpful that you can share it with us - I'm learning so much through all of the conversations on here. I hope you are able to do what you feel comfortable with and that you enjoy your upcoming vacation with your husband.

@greenthumb: I'm so glad to hear that your FET went well! I hope you had a nice and relaxing weekend. I'm thinking lots of happy thoughts for you this week!
- - -
@raintreebee: I can understand why you were sad and frustrated. I'm glad to hear that the IUI went well and your husband sounds like he was good company to have during the process
- - -
@alie: any news on your bloodwork? Hope you're doing well!
- - -
@bluestriped bee: happy to hear that the break from TTC was a good thing for you. Best of luck as you hop on the roller coaster again - hope it's a short ride and you get a BFP soon!
- - -
@mrs.someone: welcome (back) - we're here for support, so I'm glad you said hello! My OBGYN started the fertility testing process with day 3 bloodwork, but when I made the call to my insurance to talk about what was covered for infertility I was informed that I had to be seeing an "approved provider" for things to be covered by my insurance. I moved on to an RE a month after that bloodwork and now everything is covered. I'm just telling you this as a heads up so you can be sure that you're covered.

@leialou: What are you favorite things to do in the fall? Carving a pumpkin? Baking pumpkin bread? Just trying to help give you some distractions that will keep you from symptom spotting Thinking positive thoughts for you!

Thanks @Leialou and @sweetooth!
I actually did just call my insurance and they sent me a long webpage about whats covered. We do have pretty good coverage, but it said after a year of trying Not sure what my doc's plan is, but who can really prove how long we've been trying for, right?

I have been MIA due to a conference and I'm not much of an internet person over the weekends. So many posts!!! :)))))
I want to say Good Luck to everyone who is in their TWW and whether they had IUI, FETs and everything in between
I am pulling for you GreenThumb and @Leialou: )
Welcome newbees - sucks to here but grateful to have this thread at the same time. @Mrs.Someone: When I talked to my OBGYN last July, we went over what I've been doing (timing BD, OPKs, etc). I saw her early in my cycle so she ordered bloodwork to check hormones. She then gave me a referral for HSG and husband's SA.
AF is scheduled to come tomorrow or Wed. I am not hopeful this month and it's hard to be optimistic as time goes on. I had crazy jabbing pains in my boobage area last week but that's pretty normal. Today it's not so much. I've had cramping on and off too so..... yay.
Found out last week that a coworker is pregnant. With twns. So that's awesome.
Whenever I come out of the TWW and anticipate the next cycle to start I get really bummed out as I'm sure many of you can relate. *sigh* on to cycle 13.

@Mrs.Someone: Hi! Seems like we're on a similar path. I'm in my 7th month TTC and have a follow up appointment with my OB/GYN next week. I also called my insurance last week, and they sent me their infertility treatment coverage information. It says nothing's covered until we've been trying for a year, and that year has to be documented by a doctor. I think that means that whatever you've told your doctor is what they go by. I'm planning on bringing the insurance information to my appointment so that I can be clear on what could be covered (blood work, for example) and what isn't (RE visits, IUI, etc) until the 1 year mark.

@Leialou: So exciting! I have high hopes for you this cycle *fingers crossed*

Hi ladies! I'm new over here, I normally hang out over at WB but I thought I'd give HB a try and I'd like to join you.
We're currently in month 13 of TTC, CD 37, don't think I've O'd for this cycle.
Background: I was diagnosed with PCOS 10 years ago. I used to have irregular cycles (well looks like it's back again) before starting BC right before the wedding. After coming off the BC in September 2011, my cycles have been ranging from 30-34 days, of course until this cycle.
I'm currently on my third round of Clomid. 1st and 2nd rounds I had confirmed O by progesterone draws at 7dpo. I'm waiting for AF to hurry and show so I can schedule an HSG (which I'm terrified of).
Hubby had an SA last month, which my doctor emailed and said it was "essentially normal" - whatever that means. So I'm waiting for the actual results to show up in the mail.
I'm going to go back and try and read the entire thread to hopefully get to "know" you ladies a little better. Lots of love and baby dust to all.

@Leialou: I'm really hopeful for you! I know how hard the waiting can be, too. But you will know really soon! Everyone keeps telling me to stay busy and distracted... I wish I could!
@:Yellow.Clover: Welcome! I'm sorry that things have been tough with TTC. I hope you get some more answers soon!
@MK0180: I know it is hard to stay positive month after month, but it is always weird how those AF symptoms can mimic PG symptoms, so maybe this is it!
@Mrs.Someone: Welcome to you, too! As others have said, my first appt. to discuss TTC with my GYN was pretty basic. He looked at my temp charting/discussed timing/cycle length/my cycle symptoms and determined that I am ovulating. So, I skipped the blood work and went right onto an SA for my DH and an HSG for me. We both have issues, so we were immediately referred to a fertility specialist. I wish you the best of luck with your appt!
@ChuckNorris: CH's are always a good thing!! Here's hoping this month is your month!
I'm trying not to symptom spot (yeah right) since it is only 4 days after my transfer, but will admit I'm going a little crazy wanting to know now! I will likely POAS on Friday or Sat before my blood work on Sat if DH agrees. It is seriously going to be tough if this doesn't work. We'll have to save up some cash and wait until spring I think. I'm also considering going to another clinic but hopefully it won't come to that!

@sweetooth: No bloodwork news yet! If I haven't heard anything by Wednesday afternoon, I'll make a few calls and see if there are any results yet. For now I'm just keeping busy and distracting myself with some MAJOR home organization/cleaning projects and getting ready to go out of town this weekend. Hope all goes well with the SA! My husband's will be next week...
@bluestriped bee: @Mrs.Someone: @yellow.clover: Welcome! Hope you don't have to stay too long!
Good luck to everyone who is currently in the TWW!

@alie: When was your bloodwork? Sometimes they don't call if everything is normal, so you wouldn't hear anything until you ask.
kiwi / 526 posts
@Grace: It was only this past Friday - they told me it would take about 3 days to get the results. I will be in total shock if everything is normal, ha!

@alie: Probably three business days though, right? So you shouldn't expect to hear anything before Wed at the earliest, no?
kiwi / 526 posts
@Grace: Yep, that's why I'm not calling until Weds afternoon at earliest I'm not too anxious about it... I am confident I didn't ovulate before cd21 this cycle (boo) so that won't be any shocking news. But I'm curious to see what the other test results are (I don't even remember what all she ordered).
How are you?? Any updates?

@alie: Nothing yet. Had my day 3 FSH on Thursday, once that's in, they will put the referral through, so hopefully I get some appointment dates in a couple weeks.

Not the greatest week over here...SIL had her baby last night and I had to endure days of emails from MIL: "she's in labor" "whoops, not in labor" "oh she's in labor now!" "your nephew is here!" FML. DH's first words upon waking this morning were "I don't want to exist today". We are sucking it up big time today and visiting her in the hospital an hour away because she really wants us to go and it can't wait until the weekend.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Trailmix: @Leialou: and @Raintreebee: how are the IUI-ers doing about halfway through the TWW?
@spaniellove: I'm sorry that you're struggling with being excited for the new baby I think some people (your MIL) don't understand how inconsiderate it can be to rub your face in it with the constant updates.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Rachel: I've really tried to be supportive throughout her pregnancy, and besides the gifts we've already given them we're taking a huge bag of gifts with us today. I'm trying. What really made it concrete for me this morning was seeing the name (thank goodness not a name I like at all) and the weight. It hit me that this baby is TWICE the weight my neurologist predicted our baby would be - she told me that because I have to stay on my seizure meds, my child would probably be around 4 lbs. It didn't mean much to me since I was 5 lbs, but when I thought about the unfairness that not only does she get all this but her kid is twice as big it was too much.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@Rachel: I'm 10dpo and doing ok now. I'm not going to test until 18dpo. I can't stand to see a bfn.
@spaniellove: I'm sorry you're having a bad day. Hopefully new baby snuggles will make you feel a little better, not worse.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@MK0180: I was SUPER bummed as I head into cycle 13. Has AF made an appearance since you last posted? I feel your enthusiasm with the baby news. In fact - I love your enthusiasm "So that was awesome"... Do you think you'll continue to try without any medical assistance?
@yellow.clover: Welcome I chuckled a bit when you said that your doctor said the SA results were "essentially normal". Um, yeah - doc? Can you be a little more specific? As for the HSG, I just had mine a little over a week ago and it was a little painful. But overall, it was worse in my head. Deep breaths during the procedure helped me.
@GreenThumb: Still thinking SUPER positive thoughts for you!
@alie: Where ya headed? Someplace fun? Hope you have a great escape from it all
@spaniellove: You're so amazing for going to visit the new baby and for bringing more gifts. Only stay and visit for as long as you can handle.
@Trailmix: @Leialou: and @Raintreebee: thinking of you guys!

I was greeted with yet another baby announcement on facebook today. I thought I managed to block everyone that was expecting... Maybe I should just ban facebook for a while.

@spaniellove: Ugh sorry That's no fun.
@sweetooth: We're headed to CT for a family wedding - I love just about any wedding where I'm a guest and not the planner, so I'm looking forward to it
@Grace: I hope you get your results quickly so you can move forward with everything else!
My bloodwork results are in - the doctor's office called about an hour ago. Everything is normal (which totally shocked me), other than the fact that I didn't ovulate. Which I could have told them... I'm on cd27 and I still don't think I have this month. I'm really surprised and excited that all other levels are normal though - she may have even said 'perfect' (or maybe I imagined that). For some reason I was expecting them to say that I was totally out of whack.
Anyway the new plan is to go forward with the SA for my husband next week, and as long as all that comes back good, we'll move forward with Clomid for me next cycle.... whenever that may be. And then another progesterone check on cd21 to see if it did what it's supposed to do.
I'm excited to have a real plan!
kiwi / 526 posts
@sweetooth: I know what you mean about facebook! I have just about everyone on hide now.
Today, while at the shoe store - after getting the call from my Dr but not yet listening to the message - I ran into a friend who blurted out she was pregnant. I'm sure I said congratulations but I doubt I looked like I meant it. I hate that I can't be excited for my friends! I really want to be... but instead I'm just jealous and annoyed.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@alie: yay for having a plan! And for 'perfect results' Enjoy CT next weekend. I was up in Boston last weekend and the leaves were already looking pretty.
It really is hard when you keep getting news from others, isn't it? Does this friend know about what you're going through?
My best friend is due with her second child around the time that I finally get to have my follow-up appointment with the RE and figure out what our plan is. I want to be there for her, but I also wish I could be where she is too. I'm so jealous! I always thought our kids would grow up together and be having major milestones together like we did growing up. (I've known her since I was 4 years old)
kiwi / 526 posts
@sweetooth: None of my friends know - I haven't told anyone! (thank goodness for hellobee). We'll see how things go with the first Clomid cycle... if it doesn't go as I hope it will, then I'll probably tell a few close friends just so they know why I'm acting like a crazy woman. My mom will be in town later this month, so I might end up telling her as well but I haven't decided yet....

Having a tough day today. I decided to POAS this morning and got a BFN. I'm scheduled for my beta blood test on Saturday and was just hoping to see those two lines before my test. We'll test again tomorrow and Sat morning, but DH and I are both kinda devastated about the BFN today. I'm 7 days past my transfer of 5-day old embryos, so kinda like 12 DPO. Could just be too early, but I can't help but have a sinking feeling. Where do we go from here?
honeydew / 7230 posts
@GreenThumb: 12DPO really is early! I still really believe you could be pregnant and you know you have ALL of us crossing our fingers for you!!
pear / 1986 posts
@twodoghouse: Thank you! I know it's still early... I think after having had so much disappointment maybe we are bracing ourselves for the worst just in case. And with all the "fake" hormones in me right now, my emotions are hard to keep in check.

@Greenthumb Ugh, I'm sorry, I completely understand the disappointment but really, 12 DPO is too early to definitely count yourself out...thinking of you!!
