@Mrscb Holy Crap!! Fingers crossed for you!!!!! And no matter what happens, this is still a wonderful sign!

@Grace Thank ya, darlin'! Now let's get you on that baby train too!

@Raintreebee I can see both arguments (for and against another IUI) but I'd firmly be in the camp of 'go for it'. IUI is SO much less invasive and less expensive than IVF, plus it's a much shorter timeframe. Why not try one more IUI, in case it works and thus saves you so much time, stress and money? In the grand scheme of things, waiting three more months to try IVF isn't the worst thing in the world...just my two cents!

@MrsCB: I've been off HB for a just a bit and I miss this?! I've never seen a second line - I'm so happy for you! Fingers crossed and positive thoughts that everything continues to progress for you.

@spaniellove: "we are the best of friends and love that we're such a good team" - hold on to this positive thought about you and your husband. You'll get through this.

@MrsCB: Again - I am so excited for you! Sending you lots of positivity for this Friday

@marionberry: I hear ya on wanting good news. But you know, maybe this information is just an infection and the antibiotics will be all it takes to clear things up before moving full speed ahead. It is hard to take a break - I'm just trying to think of it as a stress-free holiday The new year will bring SO many good things for all of us. It just has to!

@Raintreebee: Waiting 3 months does sound like an eternity. But I think it's sweet of your husband to consider giving your body a break. Can they confirm that you do have cysts? With the hysteroscopy? Because knowing that something else is in there taking up room for your healthy baby might help you consider the break, instead of continuing IUI. {hugs!} The decision making never gets any easier, does it?

Hi Guys!! I'm sorry we all have to meet on this difficult path of trying to get pregnant but I'm glad we have the support of each other. Well I guess I can chime in here now!? Had a doctor's appointment today. As most of you know, I got pregnant right off birth control, mc'd at 7 weeks, and having been trying ever since. That was 7 months ago. My OBGYN did a blood work up at the beginning of October to check my levels. My FH and LH with my inconsitent cycles makes him believe that I have PCOS and am struggling with ovulating. He said he feels I have a 5% chance of conceiving without intervention. That I was lucky to get pregnant easily before. My options are to 1) continue trying because 5% isn't 0%, 2) Clomid 50 mg for 3 months 3) Go straight to a specialist.

DH and I need to discuss it tonight but I know I want to take the Clomid path.

@MrsCB: Yay positive test! Hoping the tests continue to progress!!

Whew I just barely managed to schedule my CD3 bloodwork with the clinic for Friday! They also scheduled DH and me for genetic testing. I realized I needed to be aggressive with them, so I asked when I'd see the doctor again and they scheduled me for a consult on 12/12 to discuss our next steps. It's such a relief to know that finally after this cycle we'll be able to move forward with IUI or IVF.

@MrsCB: What's the sensitivity limit? Someone else (can't remember), uses increasingly less sensitive tests to see if the HCG is increasing. Oh, I'm so excited for you!!!

@ladybee: Hi! I don't post here often, but I had to chime in when I read your story. I just recently got diagnosed with pcos after having long/mostly non-existant cycles after coming off BC last year. Ran lots of testing, and the next step was going to be clomid. BUT then I read about pregnitude which is a new supplement for girls with pcos that helps with ovulation and egg quality. I've researched it and more women ovulate on that than clomid. I started taking it and just a couple weeks later I ovulated on my own, the earliest I had Od since coming off the pill, and then got my BFP a few days ago. I just want you to know you do have options and CAN get pregnant naturally.Pregnitude is basically in the B-vitamin group. Here's 1 link about it, but there are plenty more on google. http://pcosdiva.com/2012/07/de-mystifying-myo-inositol/

@Grace: Some things say 25miu/ml, some say 50. I figure either way it's an improvement over 6, like I had on Tuesday.

@MrsCB: I think that's a great sign. If you were a 6 and now you're getting positives that has to mean you are at 25+ now. Congrats!!

    grapefruit / 4079 posts

@skipper2010: thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into that!

@grace: thanks, even though this is not where I dreamed of being I'm glad I'm getting some sort of answers. I think I'll look into a RE if I'm not pregnant within 3 cycles.

@spaniellove: Sadly, I think you have to be agressive to stand out and to be taken seriously in these kinds of situations. I'm glad you got your blood work in.

  18. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@ladybee: does it have to be only 50mg? I started at 50 but didn't ovulate until 100mg. I have to say that working with the RE and having a monitored cycle was really really helpful. It sucked when I didn't respond to the first dose because I kept having to go for bloodwork and ultrasounds. But what was great was that I knew what was happening and I wasn't sitting around taking opk's hoping for results (like the previous 5 months :-S).

When the 50mg didn't work the RE had me go right to 100 (without having to wait for the next month) and then with the monitoring we knew when the follicle was ready to trigger. And that was great too. I was so nervous about doing the shot and it was totally painless. Plus, then I knew I'd O about 36 hours later.

  19. ladybee

    grapefruit / 4079 posts

@mrscb: Yesteday I was just so excited that he was listening to me and willing to do something now I didn't care what he was saying. Now I'm thinking I should have said I wanted to go to a RE. I'm thinking I can start the 50mg on Sunday like he said and start looking for a RE in the process. I'm not sure if OPKs or charting will help me since both always show ovulation for me. He told me that I could move straight onto a RE if I wanted so maybe I'll call on Monday and say I've thought it over and would like to. I would like to be monitored closely.

  20. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@ladybee: Well if charting and opk's show you always ovulating, then maybe 50mg would be enough to just give you a stronger ovulation. I hope it works for you! If there's any question I can answer about the RE process, let me know.

  21. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@ladybee: Maybe you can try to get into an RE as soon as you can and take the Clomid while you're waiting since it can take a while to get in for an appointment. The waiting (between appointments, tests, etc) can start to feel like you're accomplishing nothing, so having the Clomid might at least feel like *something*. Charting/OPKs can still help you keep track of where you are in your cycle unless your OB is definitely going to monitor you in the meantime.

@MrsCB: This is so, so awesome. I'm pretty sure this means your HCG has gone up!!!

  22. ladybee

    grapefruit / 4079 posts

@MrsCB: Thanks! I just never thought this would be us. Especially after getting pregnant right off birth control. Now that PCOS has been mentioned it does sort of make sense. I may take you up on that offer of answering questions!

@spaniellove: I think I like that plan. I can't imagine how you feel waiting for all the tests. I bet it can feel like its taking forever.

  23. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

I'm so relieved to have finally gotten this b/w done! What a lot of fuss for a simple test! And I didn't realize until we got there that not everyone does the genetic testing, especially not both the husband and wife. It was just important to me that we both get screened for Fragile X even though I'm not sure what a positive result would change.

@sweetooth: @Trailmix: Thanks so much for the advice. No cysts so we are moving forward with one more iui, this time with injectables. It was a real pain getting the meds in time over the holiday. They are supposed to be here tomorrow. Fingers crossed. I would write more following everyone's updates but I sliced open my finger today and had to go to ER. Doh. typing one handed is tough.

@ladybee: Sorry that your journey has been difficult and that you have to join us on this thread. But hopefully Clomid will help. I second what @MrsCB says about monitored cycles. I will be starting a monitored cycle in January and I think it will be good to know what's going on while taking a drug that can affect people differently.

@spaniellove: Glad you were able to get the bloodwork taken care of and you're closer to starting IUI or IVF!

@MrsCB: Still OH SO happy for you

@raintreebee: Hope all of your meds came in. I bet that was tricky to take care of over the holiday weekend. I'm so sorry to hear about the sliced finger! Was it a cooking accident? Lots of luck for your next IUI

I got a call yesterday for an open appointment to have the hysteroscopy done on Monday. So - here goes nothin'! Let's get that uterus lookin' pretty for the new year I feel like I've been a goofball as the surgery approaches to get through it. But if I'm being honest, I'm nervous about it. I've never had surgery. Think positive thoughts for me tomorrow. I'm hoping this is step 1 to a successful pregnancy!

@sweetooth: we will all be thinking of you tomorrow! I have a friend who had a similar procedure two weeks ago. She said it wasn't too uncomfortable. Hoping your procedure goes well & you are able to start the new year with a BFP soon after!

@sweetooth Surgery is scary but, like you said, hopefully it's the first step towards getting pregnant! I actually think this is better than having the appt scheduled a month in advance and have to think about it that whole time. We will def be thinking of you tmrw! Also, I know a girl who had this surgery (I think) and got pregnant 2 cycles later after trying for almost 2 years...this might really do the trick for you too!!

@sweetooth: Totally thinking positive surgery thoughts for you! It may seem kind of sudden to get that call just a day out but before you know it, this will all be over and you'll be all ready for your BFP! Can't wait for your uterus to be all pretty!

@MrsCB: Did you ever find out about Friday's beta?

  31. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@spaniellove: I did and it wasn't good news :-(. Turns out it was a chemical pregnancy. It's been a really tough couple of days. I was so excited that the digital was positive, I ignored the fact that the wondfo had gotten lighter than the day before.

I'll go in for another ultrasound and b/w tomorrow and I'm assuming I'll do another round of Clomid. IDK if we can be lucky enough to conceive 2 months in a row, though.

DH was so sweet when he was comforting me, telling me he wished he had been nicer to me while it lasted because we only got to experience it for such a short time. (not that he'd been bad to me, lol, but he wished he had been extra special nicer).

  32. spaniellove

    honeydew / 7916 posts

@MrsCB: I am so sorry...huge huge hugs to you. I really didn't think this was going to happen! But don't rule out the possibility of getting pregnant again this next cycle; I've heard you can be extra fertile just after a loss. I'm hoping you get your sticky baby very soon and your DH gets a do-over.

  33. ladybee

    grapefruit / 4079 posts

@MrsCB: I'm so sorry. After our loss, everyone told me the same thing @spaniellove said, that you're extra fertile. It's even in one of my baby books so don't count yourself out yet. I'm sending tons of hugs and thoughts your way. I had a loss at 7 weeks and I know the pain. You and DH will get to try again.

@sweetooth: I would do much better with a procedure that I had little time to prepare for. Otherwise, I think I'd be an axious nutty mess. Good luck tomorrow! We'll be thinking of you!!

@MrsCB I'm so sorry, that must've been so disappointing to hear I had a chemical back in June and it was hard. Not to diminish your pain but just to focus on something positive, this is still a good sign, it means things were really close to working! Hoping the next cycle is the one that sticks!

@mrscb: So sorry! I think too that it's great to think of it as your body saying it's almost ready. It seems like I've read about so many women on here saying they got a BFP not long after a CP.

Oh and because this group is probably the group most likely to understand, had another friend get pregnant right away (found out today) so feeling a bit down. What's worse is DH is blaming himself and telling me I need a new husband. This is so hard sometimes.
