So I'm kind of annoyed that given the IUI I won't get to surprise my husband with our BFP. Is anyone planning anything cool to do, despite the fact that your DH may not be surprised?
pear / 1786 posts
@marionberry: I will actually do HPT before even calling my RE for a blood test. I don't go in automatically for a test. Will DH be with you when you go for your test / get your test results?
pomelo / 5041 posts
@kentuckygirl: Yep, he'll be with me! My only option would be testing that morning or late the night before but it would only be 10-11dpo and may be a little too early to come across on an hpt. I think if I got a negative too I might be a bit devastated to go to the RE's office and hear the same thing again. I'm thinking maybe I'll secretly get him something for when we find out and it will still be a sweet surprise gift even though the BFP won't be a surprise?

@marionberry: sounds like a great idea to make it even more memorable!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@marionberry: That sounds like a cute idea! For IUIs my RE doesn't do betas unless AF doesn't show and I request a test so you bet I'm testing at home.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@spaniellove: I'm so jealous that's the way it works for you ladies. The only reason I can think of for the scheduled beta is to get more money lol. I'm excited to know early though.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@marionberry: Is it not part of any bloodwork package you've paid for? For IVF they make you do a beta, but it's included in the bloodwork package.

Just wanted to add...I hate being on progesterone, especially this Endometrin. If I weren't allergic to the base in the injections I would actually choose another 2 weeks of injections. It's like having a nonstop heavy AF. Plus, the progesterone makes me burn up at night so bad that with the nightmares I started having, I actually dreamt that I woke up and found all of my skin blistering and peeling off.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@spaniellove: our office doesn't have any package at least for iui. They might for ivf though. I'm so sorry you're having such bad side effects. That's got to be awful. Did they even think you had low progesterone in the first place?

Hello everybody! It's been a long long time since I've posted - I needed a little break and the holidays also kept me busy.
So here's an update:
I was on clomid from CD 3 - 7 and I also had to do the Ovidrel shot on CD 12. We then did the IUI 36 hrs later. I had one good follicle on my right ovary at 21 (I think that's the number) and DH had a really good count (50 mil!)
Two days ago I got my first ever BFP - after 15 months of trying I never thought I'd see a second line and was starting to second guess that those things ever existed! Had initial bloodwork done yesterday and numbers look good. I go in for bloodwork again tomorrow to check HCG levels and thyroid. We are cautiously optimistic since it's very early and we've been trying for so long to get here that we're not celebrating yet. I guess the silver lining with infertility is that you're monitored a litte more closely so you can see where you are and if, from the getgo, it will progress. Anyway, I've been a bundle of nerves lately just because of the unknown.
I've skimmed through posts (man, ya'll talk a lot :)) and so many IUIs, meds and everything! I really hope that there are some great news within the next week or so :))) I am going to hang out and lurk around a bit since I'm sort of in limbo land.
As far as symptoms: I always have sore boobs right after ovulation that last the entire TWW. This time, the boobies didn't start hurting (and I mean searing pain) until about 9/10 dpo. However, I was sure that AF was going to start because I had/have cramping and I even wore liners to bed thinking it could start at any moment. I still feel like AF could be here any minute. My boobs are not as sore anymore and I've had a constant mild headache. But anyway, good luck to everybody on this board!!!!

@MK0180: Congratulations!!!!! So excited for you & DH!!!!! I LOVE seeing long time TTCers get their BFP!!!! Happy & healthy 9 months to you and please stop by the thread & let us know how you are doing!

@MK0180: Congrats!!! Fingers crossed for a sticky little bean! It must be so exciting to see those two lines after all this time. I'm so glad to see you graduating from this board and am really glad the holidays were good to you!

@kentuckygirl: @spaniellove: Thank you!!! When I saw that 2nd line creeping up I was shaking and crying and was just one blubbering mess. DH thought it was a negative and it took him a while to realize it was a positive! - it was such a surreal moment and even now, I keep it on my counter to remind myself that no matter what happens, I actually got a positive

@MK0180: Congrats! Its so exciting to see a graduate And I'm sure your story comes at a great time for the other ladies around here in their IUI TWW.
As for me, I'm trying hard not to test! I've had inlaws in town for a week and a half (leaving Saturday), so DH would rather I wait until the weekend (AF is due on Sunday). But I'm pretty convinced this month. I've had a cold for a few days, so I'm not sure if I trust my chart, but my acupuncture appointment made me feel pretty hopeful yesterday. She wouldn't give me an answer, but she seemed to do some extra stuff and made it sound very important that I kick the cold and stay on my herbs. My thinking is that if she felt nothing, she would have told me I could stop the herbs for this month. Anyway, we'll see if I can hold out a few more days or not.

@mk0180: Super congrats! So happy for you! Your comments about symptoms made me feel better, as I too usually have sore boobs the entire TWW and they're just now barely starting to feel sore. I've also had cramping off and on. Crossing my fingers it means the same thing for me as it did for you. I just love it when one of us long term TTC'ers gets a BFP!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@sweetooth: Thanks for doing this! I don't really have a date for results. But I do have an IVF consult coming up 1/9.
@marionberry: @kentuckygirl: Did you have any soreness from the trigger at all? I felt like someone rubbed sandpaper across my nipples! It's finally going away, which makes sense since the trigger is testing out.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@spaniellove: Nope I never had any nipple soreness really. But I swear over the past few days my nipples look larger. It's probably a weird mind trick, but I really do. Sorry if that sounds weird lol.

@Ladybee: IIRC you have an RE appointment today...right? GOOD LUCK girl!

@Mrs.Someone: @Trailmix: @alie: @sweetooth: Thank you so much!!
@marionberry: Thank you! Yes, the symptoms were different this go around - I am praying for you!!

@spaniellove: It was her appointment today! @Ladybee: How did it go?!?!?!
@mk0180: Thank you so much for the prayers. Lord knows I could use them..mine haven't seemed to work. Was this your first IUI? Oh and 50 million sperm is a lot! We only had 20 million.

@MK0180: Congratulations!!! What a great way to start off the new year! Hopefully this is a sign that a bunch of us will get our BFPs soon.
AFM: I went in for a follicle scan on Saturday and found out that my follicles hadn't grown much and my lining was still thin. My doctor told me to keep using OPKs until Thursday and if no positive, then this cycle would be cancelled. AF showed up today. I only had a 17 day cycle, so it looks like I didn't ovulate this month. I have never had a month where I didn't ovulate, or one that was so short! On to the next cycle. I called today and now have to go in for a baseline ultrasound. She wants me on injections this month (menopur) and viagra to thinken my lining. Hopefully this month works!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@justdarling: I'm sorry. That has got to be hard. The one good thing about these cycles of BFNs is that at least as soon as you get your period it's just days before you're back to trying again. I hope the injections and viagra work out for you!

@sweetooth: Grace graduated?!?! Man I've been away from this board too long. We are 2DPO of a natural unmedicated cycle - I o'ed on my own 2 cycles in a row! Next cycle we are doing Clomid 100 mg + Trigger shot + timed intercourse. I am going to try to hang out on these boards more!! =)
kiwi / 545 posts
@marionberry: Yes this was our first IUI - given that they say within 3 cycles it will work we were prepared for at least 2 more months of this. And DH's numbers - yeah totally flabbergasted. We did abstain for 4 days (unintentionally - we were stressed from work and I wasn't sure about if I'd ovulate on my own or had to take the shot) so who knows if that attributed? They say any number over 10 mil is good so I think you have great odds
@justdarling: Thank you! I am sorry to hear about your scan but glad to hear that you have a plan for this month - hope it works
pomelo / 5041 posts
@ChuckNorris: Glad to see you back! Hoping everything goes well for you this cycle. Woohoo for o'ing on your own!
@Mk0180: The 10 million number was what they told us too, so DH felt good about it. Our DR has us set to do up to 5 IUIs but I'm hoping we get lucky and at least hit it by 3. So exciting that you hit it on your first try!

Hi! The appointment went really well. He was super kind, easy to talk to, and considerate. He said that I definitely have PCOS, that he doesn't think a diet change will do too much because I am a normal weight (take that primary care doctor), and that he guarantees that I will be pregnant within 6 months. He really feels that we got pregnant by ourselves is a good sign. We just need to perfect timing.
Basically the plan is that I will wait for this cycle to end and if I am not pregnant I will take generic Femara for CD 3-7. Then we are supposed to have sex CD 11-18 either ED or EOD. He doesn't want me to bother with OPKs or charting. He said that if I'm not ovulating consistently I will not get pregnant. The pill will either work or it won't and if it doesn't I won't get pregnant even when I do ovulate so not to worry. I don't think I can give up charting though so we will see.
If I am not pregnant by the end of my third cycle (which would be next cycle) he wants to do a SA and HSG. He said that he doesn't even think it'll come to that. He was great!

@ladybee: Well that sounds like a fabulous appointment! I'm sorry about PCOS, but it sounds like you have a great plan to help you get KU! FX for you!

@sweetooth: I like having the graduates on the list. Can we add @Greenthumb, please. They give me hope!
I wonder how @twodoghouse & @mrs. bird are doing?
apricot / 363 posts
@sweetooth: thanks for doing that! My information is correct.
@spanielove: it looks like we have a similar schedule with IVF. I had my official IVF consultation last week with the nurse and coordinator. DH and I meet with the RE on Tuesday to sign the paperwork and pay. We went straight to IVF though and didn't undergo IUI treatment. You know a lot more than I do about the meds and process; I've certainly done research, but nothing extensive. I'm getting nervous and excited though. Do you feel more prepared (as you can be) going into IVF with your experiences with IUI?

@ladybee: I didn't mean awesome that you have pcos, but awesome about getting you pregnant in 6 mths!

@ChuckNorris: Yep! 8dpiui currently. Test on 12dpiui at the RE's office.
@Ladybee: As I already emailed you, YAY, SUPER EXCITED for you!

@spaniellove: Those nightmares sound awful! I hate progesterone too, mainly because its in suppositories and the sore boobs when it may not be "for real"
pear / 1786 posts
@Mrs.Someone: I am impressed that you are doing so well at waiting to test. I completely understand not wanting house guests there when you test!
pear / 1786 posts
@ladybee: It is reassuring to have your RE be so positive and reassuring. Also great to have a plan in place!
@derevival: When do you expect to start your IVF cycle! Best of luck to you. Please let us know if you have any questions about the injectable meds!
@justdarling: So sorry you had a short cycle but hopefully you feel better having a good plan for this cycle.
@Jennimac: How are you doing?
pomelo / 5073 posts
@kentuckygirl: I'm doing all right. We are waiting to find out if we got lucky this month. I'm just waiting. That's all I feel like I'm doing right now. : / I'm keeping up with y'all though!!!! Can't wait to hear more good news!
