@marionberry: Thanks! Yes we'll start again (for IUI #2) in a couple days, so at least there's that!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@kentuckygirl: I'm glad! I'll be following your (and @spaniellove:) progress during this next attempt. Can't wait to see my IUI buddies get BFPs.

@sweetooth: 4-5 dpo right? Any weird symptoms? I had cramping for a few days after the IUI and then appeared to implant on day 6.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@marionberry: No symptoms at all over here. I'm 5dpo today. I wish I did have some so I'd feel like I know for sure that this is working. Time will tell. I'll know for sure in 9 more days. Not that I'm counting or anything
How are you feeling?
pomelo / 5041 posts
@sweetooth: Feeling good actually. Really tired and peeing a lot but that's about it.

How are you ladies today? It's rainy and dreary here and that kinda fits my mood on CD 2. I was excited to read about a 16 month TTCer on WB that got her BFP yesterday! I love seeing long time TTCers get PG, it gives me hope!
I wish I had tried to call my specialty pharmacy yesterday about my next round of injectible meds. I assumed they were closed but didn't even check. On the other had, the RE may decide to change something. Last month the RE were going to loan me some meds so hopefully that can do that this cycle since I'll need to start them tomorrow night and won't have time to have them shipped.

@marionberry: Glad to hear you're feeling well!
@kentuckygirl: It was a dreary, foggy day here too. That's great news about a BFP for a 16 month TTCer. Gives me hope too Today I treated myself to some new yoga pants and went to my yoga for fertility class, phase 2, tonight. A nice way to start week 2 of my TWW.
Glad to hear that you have a backup plan for your meds. The place I get my meds shipped from can do it pretty fast. You never know if they could still ship it to you in time. Hope everything goes well at the start of your next cycle!

@marionberry: Thanks!! Actually, the DH was actually wondering if he could bring in his own deposits. I would have to get the okay from the doc first. DH did say that in the room where he does his deposits, he can hear the front desk people talking (not about him) but just random conversations. He can't really concentrate.
@sweetooth: Thank you! Yeah, what my doc said to me is starting to bother me.

So I went for CD 3 visit today. As soon as I arrived, they started talking about the possibility of a cyst developing during super stimulation cycles and lingering into the new cycle, meaning we would have to wait a cycle if I had a cyst. Fortunately, I do not have any cysts, but I wanted to mention that to you all who are using injectibles, so that you aren't as surprised as I was that it could happen and cause you to miss a cycle of trying.
I am moving up to 3 vials of Menopur, instead of 2 vials per day. My RE wants to see 4-5 large follicles instead of the 2, that I had last cycle. She also is putting me on an estrogen patch to increase my lining. Here's hoping that this is our lucky cycle. This is the cycle that Jenny Renny predicted would lead to a BFP when I got my reading back in October. At that time, I was hoping she was wrong so that I got my BFP sooner. But now that we are in my January cycle, I am hoping there was something to her reading.

@kentuckygirl: Glad to hear you didn't have any cysts! I can't remember, did they do a 7dpo u/s? I hope Jenny Renny was right for you and this is the magic cycle!
@sweetooth: You're starting the yoga again! Woohoo!
@bluestriped bee: As long as you live relatively close by, they should allow your DH to bring in his samples. Our urologist and RE (both close to home) have always asked us if we want to do that, and it makes things a lot easier. He'll probably have to just do it at the clinic for IVF, although I think there is the option of providing a sample to freeze. And what someone said to you about not using frozen samples just made no sense...
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@spaniellove: yeah, I think he can do that as long as there is no traffic. In traffic, it can take 45-60 min but without traffic he can get there on 30 min.

@kentuckygirl: Good luck with your new cycle. I actually got a cyst from Femara. I was supposed to do injectibles this cycle, but can't due to the cyst. Hopefully this thing resolves itself quickly!

@bluestriped bee: If you think the time issue may become a source of stress, maybe you could look into staying at a hotel closer to the doctor?
pear / 1786 posts
@marionberry: @spaniellove: Thanks! I am trying to remain hopeful but it gets hard.
@justdarling: I remember reading about your cyst, but it didn't register that cysts are pretty common. I am so sorry you have to wait a cycle!

@sweetooth: Hi! How are you feeling? Will you POAS or go in for bloodwork? Thinking of you with fingers crossed!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@kentuckygirl: Hi I'm feeling good. I'll be going in for bloodwork next Monday. Thank you for thinking of me! I'll be thinking of you too this next cycle. I hope you respond well to the additional meds and that Jenny Renny is right on the money
@spaniellove: Yep! And it was SOOO good last night I'm glad I signed up for the next class. Are you finding ways to take care of *you* during the next steps with IVF?
pomelo / 5041 posts
@sweetooth: I'll be counting down the days until you POAS! Are you charting or anything in the meantime? I found out on a Monday with bloodwork too so it hits a special place in my heart. Wishing nothing but the best for you!
@kentuckygirl: I know it gets hard. I hope you (and everyone else) are close to not having to deal with this struggle anymore. The stress doesn't stop at pregnancy though. So I think this is good training for the next 9 months.
@bluestriped bee: I went in the room where DH tried to give his deposit and it was kind of creepy. Small and dark with an old tv and porn. It doesn't surprise me he couldn't get it done. We lived too far away in traffic but found mid-day traffic made it possible to get our sample there in time. Early morning on a weekend works great too!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@marionberry: Thank you! I won't be POAS at all - just bloodwork for me. However, if I'm as lucky as you - I'll definitley POAS afterwards I'm not charting, or doing much of anything this week except for the progesterone and trying to eat well and get good sleep. You know, pretend like I'm pregnant! That's what I'm doing

Hi everyone! I'm so behind on our thread, I feel bad!
I'm sorry to those who had early AF this cycle! I can never decide what's worse - AF arriving early and taking you by surprise, or AF arriving late... leaving lots of time for wishful thinking beforehand about a possible BFP. I guess both are equally mean.
@sweetooth: When will you do your bloodwork since you are not POAS? My fingers and toes are crossed for you!
As for me, I had the most perfectly positive OPK ever today! The test line showed up immediately, even before the control line, which I've never had happen before, and I usually don't get a positive OPK until CD19-21, so to have it on CD16 is an improvement for me as well. I think the Clomid's working, which has renewed a bit of excitement for me.

@marionberry: Oh, good idea to have deposits on the weekends.

Oh, I found this funny infertility blog. It definitely made me laugh some of the things she said. I've been feeling really down lately and this gave me a good laugh. Even though I feel like crap and am a little frustrated that I can't get pregnant while close friends are getting pregnant left and right, reading this blog really lifted my spirits. We are going through some tough stuff and it really sucks but we all need a laugh here and there. Especially when she understands where were are coming from.

I might get her book if I continue to like her posts.

@marionberry: Oh, you asked this question earlier about how many IUIs I will do before starting the adoption route. Well, I thought my insurance covered IUIs but in reality, it only covers infertility testing... not the actually procedure. Darn!
We have money to pay out of pocket for the IUIs but I don't know how many IUIs I want to do. I need to talk to the DH. Considering the Dr didn't think 'we've had much trouble yet', I beginning to think we should wait a little longer and try more IUIs until the dr says so. Although, we don't have money trees in our backyard so the DH and I will have figure out how many IUIs we want to do. I guess I am annoyed that the Dr said that I don't need a sperm donator. If I want a use to sperm donator, why can't I use one? Ugh, why do I have to get approval from the dr? I have to get approval to have my DH bring in his deposit from home. I have to get approval to use frozen sperm. I'm starting to get this feeling that even though I am paying pretty much out of pocket for everything that I am doing it they way the doctor wants.
Ugh, yeah, I know. I can be a push over and I really respect doctors and so I pretty much believe whatever they tell me. I think I need to start being more firm about what financially we can do and won't do. The dr says that it might be me and not my husband but yet why isn't she doing tests to figure out whats wrong with me??
Oh, shoot, getting too frustrated and angry again. I need to go read that funny infertility blog again to make me laugh and the bring me out of this mood I'm in.

@bluestriped bee: Ha, thanks! I haven't even thrown it away yet because it's just so pretty that I want to keep checking it. I'm pathetic Thanks for sharing the funny blog!!!
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@alie: uhh, I was going to say you should frame it but that's just crazy! Lol
honeydew / 7916 posts
@bluestriped bee: I'm sorry this is all so frustrating! How would you feel about doing some testing and getting concrete answers before you spend more money on IUIs? Have you had an HSG and your FSH/E2/progesterone, etc tested? And has your DH had 2 SAs? Legally I think your dr does have to approve any kind of donor and you might have to meet certain criteria for them to do that. But...all this testing should have happened before you put out your money for IUIs, and your doctor should already know what's going on.
If you're not comfortable with this doctor it might be time to look for another clinic. Although some things will be the same with every doctor/clinic, you should be able to find someone more proactive and interested in diagnostics! I just hate to see you waste your money and energy on treatments without knowing what you're trying to treat.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@spaniellove: I've had an HSG, blood tests and ultrasounds. That's pretty much it. Are there other tests? DH has had 2 SA.
Yeah, I'm beginning to think we should find another clinic.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@bluestriped bee: I'm going to guess they tested for the things I mentioned. Did they say everything was normal? And the SAs were normal?
pomelo / 5228 posts
@alie: Yay, glad you're making progress!
@bluestriped bee: It might be worth trying to acupuncture/naturopath approach, if its covered by your insurance? I know I preach too much about it, but they look at fertility issues from a different perspective, so it might be worth getting a second opinion.
As for me, I just got back from the naturopath with a bunch of news I didn't want Because of my MTHFR, she wants me to take this month off, since I'll be "detoxing". At first she said it was OK to continue, so I'll see what my acupuncturist thinks (I shouldn't have asked!!) Also, shes putting me on progesterone suppositories after O, and suggested a gluten-free diet because of Hashimotos
Lots of things I'm not thrilled about...
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@spaniellove: They said I was normal. The DH's SA came back with low morphology. Yeah, so I have no idea why my dr would tell me that it's usually woman infertility and not male IF that is the reason.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@Mrs.Someone: That's a good suggestion. Maybe I should try acupuncture. I think it's covered under my insurance. I need to check though. I don't have anything against it. I just thought I never needed any kind of intervention because my drs told me that my test were normal.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@bluestriped bee: I agree with everything @spaniellove: has said so far. If you've done all of that (the HSG, the SAs, the bloodwork, the ultrasounds) then you should know without a doubt what is wrong or know for sure it's just unexplained infertility. If your RE is saying she thinks it's you, she must have something that would point her in that direction?
IUIs weren't covered for us either so it was all out of pocket (and that included any diagnostics or lab tests, etc.) and I agree it's hard to fork out the money, but if you can afford it our RE suggested 5 IUIs before IVF. He said after 5 your odds were bad. Don't give up too early.
Also, if you don't like your RE I recommend you switch. Ours was so amazing that I just hate hearing about people having bad experiences with theirs. It's so expensive that there's no point in wasting your time and your money.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@bluestriped bee: The low morphology definitely points to him. And if that's the case it could take a few IUIs with clean sperm to get a baby, but it should certainly be doable. Is he on FertilAid for Men? I had DH take it, along with Motility Boost, and his numbers were pretty great. I know @spaniellove's DH took it too.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@bluestriped bee: @marionberry: Low morphology supposedly doesn't have much of an impact, which might be why the doctor isn't so concerned about it. Still, you could try Fertilaid or Fertility Blend.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@alie: Don't feel bad It's nice to see you around again! And with great news! How exciting to have a perfectly positive OPK! Glad to hear that the Clomid is working for you. To answer your question, my RE had me schedule the bloodwork a certain number of days after ovulation. So I'm trying my best to just ignore symptoms (because I'm on progesterone) and not test at home until the bloodwork. No use getting my hopes up.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@marionberry: @spaniellove: Thanks for the suggestion about Fertilaid but I'm a little wary about having my DH take more meds. He's already on enough medication and his doctors closely watch what he is on now. I don't think his doctors would approve.
That's why I was hoping the dr would be at least open to us using a sperm donator considering my DH's health history.
I do need to schedule an appointment with her and tell her that we most likely won't be doing IVF. I think she needs to know what our plans are and see how she can work with us to make the next couple IUIs worth it (well, at least give it the best chance.). (As I've said before, I have nothing against IVF. We just decided that we will go with a sperm donator or start the adoption process.)
nectarine / 2705 posts
@bluestriped bee: Great find with that blog! Thanks for sharing. It's nice to be able to laugh about all of this sometimes. Also, I think looking for another clinic could be a good thing. Second opinions are helpful. I'm like you, I want to trust my doctor. But maybe this is one of those times you should trust your gut.
@Mrs.Someone: I bet the gluten-free diet will keep your mind occupied during the TWW Lots of recipes to try and research you can do. When do you see your acupuncturist to know if you have to take this month off?
pomelo / 5228 posts
@sweetooth: I saw my acupuncturist this afternoon, she agrees that we should take the month off So I guess the gluten-free thing will be my distraction for the next month!
