@mrsdoily: Welcome! Hope your stay here in this thread won't be long!
@Mrs.Someone: I did call the acupuncturist, we have been playing phone tag with each other. I wish she had a receptionist so I could actually schedule something instead of having to wait til she calls me back to schedule something. I'm sorry but I'm just frustrated and want to see her soon. At this rate, I don't think I see her until after my IUI is done. I really appreciate you giving her name but IF has made me really frustrated with everything. I'm impatient, I'm sorry.
@spaniellove: AF came today! Thank god. Yesterday, I was really light headed. I was getting a little concerned that something was wrong. Well, AF came so all is well and not light headed anymore. The nurse will probably call me back tomorrow to schedule my Day 10 ultrasound which will be Feb 5th. I think they may trigger on the 5th or 6th. Then IUI on the 6th or 7th. Man, this late AF really made things tight schedule wise. I am hopping on a plane to Maui on the 7th at 10a. Eeek! Real close! Maybe they will trigger on the 5th and IUI will be on the 6th.

@bluestriped bee: Have sooo much fun in Maui!! That's where we went for our honeymoon, and we've been dying to go back ever since. Hopefully that tropical paradise will be a perfect distraction for your post-IUI TWW
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@alie: Thanks! I've never been to the island of Maui before. I was in Honolulu about 6 years ago. Yeah, it will be a good distraction.

@bluestriped bee: I'm jealous, you are going at the perfect time for whale watching!! We went on one of the Teralani boats; it was a lot of fun even though we were at the early side of 'whale season'. If you want any other "must see" suggestions, let me know and I'll put together some recommendations for you
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@alie: We are only going for 5 days but, yeah, any recommendations would be great. Thank you!

@bluestriped bee: I'm sorry its been so frustrating! I think its somewhat the nature of the business where receptionists aren't very common. Unfortunately she doesn't do email either. Its just that first appointment from there, because if you stick with it, its weekly and you just make the next appointment as you go. Either way, I hope this whole IF thing is less frustrating for you soon! So jealous that you're going to Maui too, you'll have to post photos for us to live vicariously through you
As for me, just got back from a dinner party with a pregnant couple, and a couple with a 3mo old. Lots of baby talk, but I survived. And I found out that SIL 1 is either newly pregnant or working on #2 already (and SIL 2 is due soon). I'll be pretty bummed if I'm not pregnant by the time I hear about SIL 1 being pregnant

@bluestriped bee: Thank goodness AF finally showed and you're feeling better. Hopefully the timing will all work out! Do you have a backup plan worked out in your head? Maui sounds like a wonderful distraction from the 2WW.
@Mrs.Someone: That kind of thing is so hard to take. Hugs to you!
Did anyone watch Downton Abbey last night? Besides the obvious sad part, I've been sad about the Matthew/Mary infertility storyline (although it's only been 3 months, so that's relative). But I was so cringing when Matthew asked the doctor if his past injury could affect his fertility and the doctor said his problem was anxiety and they'd have a baby when he just relaxed. UGH! OF COURSE!

@mrsdoily: I admire your strength! I'm so sorry for all of your losses. Welcome to the group, it's a great source of support.
@bluestriped bee: Yay for AF finally showing up! I hope that timing works out well with your IUI and your wonderful vacation plans. I echo everyone's sentiments that it sounds like the perfect escape during the TWW.
@Mrs.Someone: Wow, good for you for being strong through all of the baby talk!
@spaniellove: I don't watch Downton Abbey but that portrayal of fertility makes me cringe. Do you watch Grey's Anatomy? I think that how Meredith is handling getting pregnant after her fertility issues has been pretty realistic.
@alie: Do you find out any news this week? If Clomid did the trick?
- - - - -
I had my day 3 visit yesterday. Follicle count looks good, and I took my first Clomid pill last night. I go back in next Saturday for early monitoring. I anticipate the IUI occurring next week. I hope we can get the timing right this round. My biggest worry right now is the Bravelle injections. Ovidrel wasn't too hard, because it was pre-filled. The vials and needles for injectables make me so nervous.

@sweetooth: Yep... if no AF by Thursday, I'll test, although tomorrow I am pretty sure will be 14dpo. In the meantime I don't really don't know what to think, so I'm trying not to think at all. It's so hard to know if the things that have seemed different this tww are Clomid side effects, pregnancy symptoms, or just nothing at all.
Good luck with your injectibles this cycle! They would make me nervous too, but I'm sure you will do great
honeydew / 7916 posts
@sweetooth: I don't watch Grey's but have read episode guides. (That's cheating, I know!) It makes me sad that the "relax and it'll happen" is probably accurate for the time and still happens today. As for the Bravelle, you get the Q-Caps which are cool! Is a nurse giving you any training? It also helps to watch some videos online. It's okay to take it slow (my first day it took me 15 minutes, although I was mixing 3 vials together) and you'll feel like a pro after that although I hope it's a success and you never have to do it again!
nectarine / 2705 posts
@alie: @spaniellove: thank you both for your votes of confidence!
@alie: I know what you mean about not trying to think about it all too much. It really is hard to interpret the symptoms when Clomid is in the picture. I hope that AF stays away for you and this is the beginning of good things.
@spaniellove: I did notice Q-caps in the package. I was sent some links for training videos and I'll be sure to watch those before next Saturday when I will have the chance to ask a nurse any questions in person. I don't know if there will be any training, but I might ask. Glad to hear that you're feeling like a pro! I took your advice last time and made sure there was a nice clean, relaxing spot to do the injections. Thanks for the continued great advice

@mrsdoily: Hi! Welcome to the thread but I am so sorry to hear about your MCs. I remember you from here and WB (right?). Hope you have a short stay here and find some support. This is a great group of ladies!

@bluestriped bee: Glad you can move onto the new cycle now. I think a trip to Maui sounds like a great idea, post IUI. Sorry the timing is tough but hope it works out.
@sweetooth: Glad your visit went well and you have already started the meds for the new cycle. I remember thinking the injections would be hard, but it wasn't too bad. I found the Q caps helpful. Good luck!!!

@mrsdoily: Welcome, hopefully your stay here is short.
I've been really frustrated with the progression of my follicles. So I tried Femara this cycle, and they started me at 5mg, then when that didn't work they upped me to 7.5mg. I had to go in on Saturday to check the progress, and they haven't done anything. So I figured the cycle was over. But surprisingly, when the nurse called, my bloodwork still looked good so they want to give it a few more days. I go back tomorrow to see if they grew at all.
But honestly, I feel like this is going to be a waste of time. I feel like ventually my E2 will drop back down and the follicles will have gone no where. But for now, we're just dragging it out waiting for that to happen.
And I'm also a little annoyed at a response I got on an infertility thread I started. I've been waiting a couple days to respond so I'm not overly rude. Oh well, that's neither here not there, I guess.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@MrsCB: I'm sorry this isn't going as expected! I actually did see your thread and was hoping you'd get more responses. Are they testing your FSH for a Clomid Challenge Test? It's something that can be done to find out if a woman has DOR and might be less likely to respond to injectibles. (DOR doesn't have to be the end of the world; I have DOR and my response to injectibles is fine but I'm glad I didn't waste any time!)
coconut / 8472 posts
@spaniellove: My RE hasn't brought up a Clomid challenge test. What is DOR? Can the challenge still work if I'm Clomid resistant? I did have ovarian reserve testing, which all came out fine. I know you can have trouble responding to injectables if you have low numbers of eggs, but luckily that's at least one problem I don't have. I get a ton of follicles every month, they just don't want to mature.
honeydew / 7916 posts
@MrsCB: DOR = diminished ovarian reserve, which it doesn't sound like you have. Which would be why they aren't doing a clomid challenge for you. You probably would have mentioned this before, but do you have PCOS?
pear / 1786 posts
@MrsCB: Sorry, I can't exactly answer your question, since I seemed to have some response on Clomid. I obviously never got PG though. I did not respond at all to Femara so we moved on to injectibles. I do seem to have responded pretty well to the injectibles as I had 2-3 mature follicles this month.
nectarine / 2705 posts
@kentuckygirl: Thanks for the good luck! I hope you're feeling well.
@MrsCB: I think you handled your response well. I can see why you needed to take some time before responding. I piped in over on that thread - I guess I'm a bit of a hybrid this cycle. Clomid and injectables. I hope when you go in tomorrow you've had some good progress, I know it's so frustrating. Hugs to you!

@bluestriped bee: I'm jealous of your trip to Maui! That sounds like the perfect way to spend the tww.

@MrsCB: Just reread what you said about that thread - and I have to agree with @sweetooth, I think you handled your response well too.

@sweetooth: @spaniellove: Thanks :). I really didn't appreciate the post, it was kind like hearing "just relax", but I didn't want to sound too snarky!
@sweetooth: I hope you get some good response to your meds too. And good luck on your IUI!

@shutterbug: Where have you been and how is it going for you? Any changes in what you're doing? I just got my thyroid rechecked (which made me think of you) and it's gone down naturally (2.9 to 2.59) in about a month and a half but they're putting me on synthetic thyroid to get me down to below 2.5 as supposedly it's better for baby's health. So good news is, you can certainly get pregnant with a higher number, but they'll just work to regulate you while you're pregnant.
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@marionberry: aw you're so sweet to think of me! My dose was doubled almost 4 weeks ago because when my levels were rechecked they were still 3.5, so once AF comes in February I'm going to redo the CD 3 BW (including TSH) and make another appt with my gyn. I'm going to ask for a referral to an RE at that point so that I can get in there for April, which is the one year mark.
To be honest, I'm feeling like I'm not really even TTC anymore right now, and I'm just sort of mentally gearing up for the next steps (meds, IUI, etc, whatever we end up needing) I thought I'd be more sad about it, but we originally started TTC in April because we wanted a spring baby (seems so silly now, haha) so I feel like it's ok if it takes a while longer. I keep telling myself that once I have a baby it won't matter how long it took me to get there.
How's your little bean doing?? I lurked on your Sept mamas thread and saw that you had an U/S? So exciting!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@shutterbug: I don't remember, have you done an HSG and SA already? It seems odd that despite your hypothyroidism you'd be unable to get pregnant. This could just be my lack of knowledge around the issue though. I think it's good that you move on to an RE. They're oh so helpful and will really help you acheive your goal of becoming a mom. Sometimes OBs can be slow to act, at least that's been my experience. I really hope the month of April turns out to be a really good one for you.
Yes we had our first ultrasound yesterday and the "peanut" as my RE called him/her measured perfectly to its age (6 weeks, 4 days) and we got to see and hear it's little heartbeat (122 bpm). It was so great! We go back in 3 weeks for another ultrasound and then we're released to a regular OB...which I have to pick in the meantime.

@alie: I'm so sorry! I agree. Take as much time as you want. We'll be here for you. Oh, you should do something nice for yourself. Splurge on something you always wanted. I unfortunately did not do this for my first failed IUI and I was really devastated and in a crummy mood for a long time. I know it won't make the pain go away but that little something can lift you spirits for a couple seconds. Hugs!!
As for me, I'm starting my second (redo) IUI cycle. Starting Femera today. My day 10 ultrasound is scheduled for Feb 5th (next Tuesday). I hope my follicles look good, so I can trigger the same day.
I did find an appointment with an acupuncturist. She was able to fit me in tomorrow (!) and I might be able to see her again next week for my IUI.
@Mrs.Someone: Thank you for the acupuncturist you suggested but I decided to find someone else. I continued to play phone tag with that office. I missed her last phone call by seconds and I immediately called her back. No answer. Instead of waiting for her to call me back, I just found a fertility acupuncturist that's right near my work. She called me back this morning but I already have an appt for the other office on Thursday. Sorry, I couldn't use your acupuncturist. Thank you for getting me to look for an acupuncturist. I don't think I would have looked for them, if it weren't for you. I'm really excited and eager about my appt tomorrow.
pomelo / 5228 posts
@bluestriped bee: I'm glad you found someone who works for you! I understand the frustration about phone tag, so I totally don't blame you for going somewhere else. It doesn't matter to me who you go to, I just thought it would be a good thing to suggest, and I'm happy to motivate! Let me know how your appointment goes tomorrow.
coconut / 8472 posts
OMG guys, I have an 18mm follicle! I am so excited! When I went in on Tuesday they weren't sure I was going to progress any more and had me come in again today. I was so sure they wouldn't have grown at all or just one millimeter, but one went from 12 to 18! I even made the ultrasound tech check twice because I had 2 really close together last time that looked like one big one. But she was sure it was accurate :-D.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@MrsCB: That's awesome! My largest was only 19mm and I'm pregnant so you have a great chance. Wishing you tons of luck.
coconut / 8472 posts
@marionberry: last time I ovulated it was only 17mm and we got pregnant (though it was a CP.). I'm really hoping the egg is better this time since its already a little bigger.
I'm also really happy about the timing. I am leaving on Tuesday to visit my parents without DH and I was afraid that it wouldn't get big enough to trigger before (and get in lots of BD-ing, lol). But maybe I'll be able to trigger today :-). I put DH on notice already, lol. Now I just have to hope the bloodwork comes back good.

@bluestriped bee: Good luck on this cycle!
@MrsCB: Congrats on the follicle!!!! 18 is really good!
AFM I am in my first injectible IUI cycle. I just triggered last night and will have the IUI tomorrow morning. I have a question for all of you who have been on menopur. Did you notice your ovaries more when you were taking the shots? I would get an achy sensation about 10 to 15 minutes after the shot. Last night after I triggered, I felt them all night. This morning, not so much. I had 3 follicles at my scan on Tuesday which were 18, 16 and 15 mm. I'm just worried that the 18 decided to release early and we missed it. After 2 failed IUIs and the cost of the shots, I really don't want to screw this one up! I'm trying not to stress and just trust my doctor, but it's hard when you start feeling things. It's almost like symptom spotting in the TWW.
